- I was challenged to make an origami display by Richard from Poor Man's DIY. He folded a white lab, in honor of our mascot, and the challenge to me was to make a display for it. That wasn't enough, though. Richard also challenged me to folding an origami crane, following his instructions. I opted for a fun design using dowel joinery.

That is so cool, Brent! Love the dowel joinery...you made that look easier than it was. Looks like you've got some good crane makers there at home with you, too!
Thank you, Stan! There were some struggles that I left out to keep things moving, but it really went pretty smoothly! I was actually pretty surprised. My assistants definitely made better cranes than I did, but it was fun working with both of them on it!
The precision work with the dowels is incredible!! We love your display! Jennifer and I were amazed how well you and your children made the cranes! Great job! Unfortunately, we had to deduct a point from your overall score because you glued one piece in the wrong direction even though you corrected it without explaining the funny error (that I have made myself countless times) LOL!!! WONDERFUL VIDEO!!!
Haha! I was wondering if anyone would notice that piece facing the wrong way! I blocked the shot a bit when I fixed it, so it wouldn’t have made sense without a description and I was trying without voice over this time. Thanks for the kind words about our work! The crane in the glamour shots is from my 11 year old, because she did the best one 😁
