Its even more sad knowing the incident might not have occurred if the boy was in the middle, they put that weightless boy in the front knowing the weight wasnt distributed throughout the raft. That thing was destined to go airborne 🤦🏽
I was born in Kansas but knowing the incident while being born in Kansas is sadder.
Anything that requires that kind of weight distribution or death should never have been in operation in the first place, if they did get it right that time that boy would have lived but it was going to happen eventually to someone else. This is why the designers are in criminal courts

The first one is a little unnerving considering a kid would be decapitated on that ride. The ones that look like the most fun are the ones where you get launched up in the air at the end. But the coolest looking one by far is the one with the sharks. That was pretty bad ass.

The first one was made by an idiot who admitted that the maths experts and physics experts were telling him it would never be safe, and he just ignored them and built it anyway. Every person going on should have had a weight limit and there should have been an age limit, but the owner decided to remove all age limits just before opening to the public. They re-opened the rest of the park 3 days after the boy was decapitated.

Sometimes the tallest waterslides can be a little dangerous, for example: On August 7, 2016, Caleb Schwab, the 10-year-old son died while riding Verrückt. The raft he was riding went airborne during the ascent of the second hump and impacted a metal support of the netting, decapitating him, and the other two passengers, both women, were injured in the incident - one suffered a broken jaw, while the other suffered a facial bone fracture and needed stitches.

I've been on slides and I can confirm that even though some of these look scary, it's only a few seconds and you will feel glad after.

It’s crazy to think there was always a chance of decapitation on that first one.
I would enjoy Massiv (the green-and-white-striped slide) more than the tallest ones. I've never liked the sensation of free-falling, and some of those record-breakers are ridiculously steep. The ones with a far more moderate grade not only last longer but are more refreshing, I think. Aside from Verruckt, which makes me sick to look at in light of the tragedy, this is a really well-planned compilation with a variety of slides around the world. I like seeing not only the riding POV, but also a backward view of the slides' heights from the splash pools.
That one is like a 10 mins from my house in Galveston Texas , it’s soo fun and 100% safe

That last one took too long at the end to get out of - that tunnel would've sent me into pure panic mode. Even with the cute little sharks and view of people shooting down the tube - all I'd be focused on is being boxed in with people in front and behind me. 😮
The video doesn't show the truth, if you do that is very nice and amazing experience look all these creatures from so close. I was there before 10 days.

I think this is the water slide that decapitated the son of a state legislator. I read that It opened in Kansas because only Kansas had such minimal regulation that it could be operated there.

Went to the iceland(striker slide) one on my school trip like 8 years ago.. it was really tall(taller than it looks in tbe video) but i never knew it was one of the tallest slides.. but. Trust me full tube slides are scarier.. i had a traumatic experience as a kid.. got stuck in the middle of one.. no one could see or hear me and my parents were anxious of me not coming down...finally another guys tube came and hit me and got unstuck since then never went to a closed tube slide
How did you get stuck? They’re pretty smooth and the water makes you slip down pretty easily

Made a mistake of pushing myself on these steep slides. The 1 second air time almost stopped my heart. The uncontrollable drop was another thing. Damn near killed me.

I almost lost my life on a roller coaster it was going so fast my seat belt came undone and I slipped through but luckily my mom was there if my mom wasn't on that ride with me that I couldn't have never seen Earth again never going on that ride again
I also had a similar experience on a drop tower, the shoulder harness was stuck and wouldn't come down close enough to me, my cousin who was already strapped in was trying to help me pull it down, but it wouldn't go down any further. Mind you I was a skinny little kid and I rode it before and knew I could easily slip out of the gap. We yelled for the operator and he literally waved us off saying "you'll be fine" and walked away! I couldn't believe it. Last minute my cousin and I got the bar down. It was terrifying, especially after having called out for help and was literally shrugged off. This was years ago, but now hearing about the drop tower accident that just happened at the Orlando icon park makes me realize even more how close to death I could have been.
Damn I'm really sorry about that. Did you report it to the ride operators? That's a serious flaw, maintenance would need to check on that. I'm glad you weren't hurt, though!

It has been down for several years and I think the water park is closed. I was so happy to see that huge tower home after what happened. I live in KC and frequently drive past it.

I've been scared of water slides ever since I got stuck on the way down on one. It was a closed one. No big injuries but I was fucking scared

Same thing happened to me. My tube was overinflated and I was too light to get it to move forward and got stuck. I was like 7 or 8 years old. Luckily the genius at the top sent two huge teenagers down to dislodge me. They barreled into me and I hit my head a bunch on the way down. I remember the park paramedics being very nice though.

I remember going to Sun N Fun Waterpark in Orlando when I was maybe 13... Lots of slides(enclosed tube rides and steep incline slides, whatnot) all similar to many here... Me and my brother spent all day, hitting as many slides as often as we could until we had to leave, many hours and severely sunburned for the rest of the vacation. That's been many years ago now, and watching these extreme slide videos makes ne realize as an older man, how much of a crippling fear I have developed for enclosed spaces. No way I would put myself into one of those tubes now, even though I know they are all pretty safe and I was able to enjoy it so much in my youth. I realize it is an irrational fear that has manifested seemingly from nowhere... but once that fear takes shape in your mind, it's hard to shake. Really strange

So 7:43 i live in germany, and today me and my family decided to go to tropical island. I was on this blue waterslide. It is for people over 15 and you have to weight 50-100 kg i guess. This waterslide is very nice, but it isn‘t scary at all. I had to wait 30 minutes to slide it down tho

They should call the 1st one the guillotine since it cuts heads off. I've been to turbo slide when I was stationed in Germany, that Waterpark is inside of an old zeppelin hanger. It's crazy to think something that flies used to take up that whole building.
