Reasons why Diego Maradona is the greatest of all time:
1- every one was scared to face him while the world had legends like Platini and Zico but he was from another planet (said by Gary Lineker)
2- he was doing all this magic and unbelievable skills and control on the worst pitches! The pitches back then were much worse than nowadays!
3- he was fighting for the ball and never dives or look for a faul despite the crazy tackles and slides he faced! Every match was like a battle!
4- he created new movesets that never existed and he was using these moves in the right way with the right time and not showing off!
5- he went to Napoli and made the club into something from nothingness and got the cup twice!
6- his passing and stamina were on another level and he was the bravest of all time!
7- if only he's on his prime and plays in this modern time with these pitches, shoes and balls, he would shock the world even more! If you say now football has changed and the defensive style has improved, Maradona will create space and pass through every defense like he always did!

This is a guy who GREW UP with a soccer ball. He didn't learn this stuff overnight. He probably slept with a soccer ball in his bed. He learnt ALL the dynamics of a soccer ball without really understanding what it was he was learning ....but most important ....he loved what he was doing AND learning as he went along. It also helped that he loved showing-off his skills that no one else bothered to do. Let's all agree ...he didn't do anything else. He was uneducated. His love was only one thing ...soccer. He knew nothing else. Soccer was his conviction. He was more "educated" about the characteristics of a soccer ball than anyone else.....and very probably practiced MORE than anyone else on the planet. He actually USED his "tricks" in competition .....as opposed to those who could only attempt their tricks during warmup.
And just as importantly to his fame ....he did NOT do a whole bunch of "public interviews" in the English-speaking world. The English-speaking world did not hear any loud-mouthed, opinionated, arrogant comments from Maradonna. The English-speaking world watched his talents on the field of play ....where he let his skills speak for him .....unlike todays players ...who will remain nameless ....who think the rest of the world needs to know how great they are .....or the need to "explain" why they are so great.
The world has changed. Maradonna's life was not at all under the scrutiny of the rest of the world as today's players are. Maradonna and Pele will remain the absolute "GOAT"s ....bar none.

And actual average footballers earn more than 10 times more money than he earned...
I live near Paris where Neymar plays (PSG), who is considered as the 3rd best player in the world (after Messi and Ronaldo)... but no comparison is possible
He fails more than half of his dribbles, playacts constantly (Maradona was not protected by referees (remember Goikoetxea)), ....
      Maradona was in another world...

Unfortunately he was not able to handle the fame and drugs.

There are players watching whom makes you feel happy. They are few watching whom makes you feel delighted. There are even fewer watching whom makes you feel estatic. And then there is Maradona, watching whom you can't help but have tears of joy!

By far and away the absolute greatest of all time, no one comes close. His control of a ball was incredible and his skill when he dribbled was to die for. What a left foot, we'll never see his like again, RIP great one, gone but never ever forgotten
