Thanks for the vedio but why you lower the sunframe while you take out the compressor from top

Lowering the subframe allowed easier access to the mounting bolts and I wasn’t trying to maneuver around everything coming out of the top. I watched many videos before I made my decision on which ideas I would use.

I am having to do this exact thing on my '02 CR-V. If I understand correctly, you removed the compressor itself from below - and you took off the stuff up top just to allow for better access to the compressor lines and bolts. Am I correct?

Yes that is what I did. I didn’t like the subframe idea, but for me it was easier.

So does it work properly now? Usually the compressor rots from inside and ruins the entire A/C system. Wondering if I need to do all that.

The only thing wrong with this one was that the clutch quit working. I was fortunate. Everything seems to be working fine.
I found it easier to replace the whole compressor instead of trying to replace the clutch in the car.

So you did pull it out from bottom? Would there have been a possibility of pulling out just from top? Im asking because some guy on the Amazon reviews said thats what he did! Plus my unibody is kind of rotted around where the rear subframe bolt screws in lol.. Great video too!!!!

Sorry I just saw your question. I did, but yes there are others who did it from the top. With a unibody as you described, I would take the time to do the top. I barely got one of my bolts to go back up and that was a scary feeling.

@@yourownambition2450 WOW I could only imagine how scary that was! Its to bad how fast these cars rot on the bottom If it werent for that Id keep this car forever!!!

I just had to replace the AC compressor on my 2003 Honda CRV and I took out the radiator and electric fans. The AC compressor comes out the top real easy.

Do you compressor bolts bump into the subframe or not?

I’m going to do this exact job. Clutch gave out on my 06. Gonna replace the compressor. What preps did you do to the new compressor before installing? Added any oil, cleaned out the system, or did you do a simple replace and had a shop test and recharge the system? I will be using new Honda compressor O-rings as well. Thanks in advance.

Since the clutch just stopped working, I just replaced the compressor and then vacuumed it and charged it. I didn’t see the need to have the system cleaned, since there wasn’t any type of mechanical failure other than the clutch not engaging. Some would say that I should’ve flushed the system first. As far as the new compressor, I drained the little amount of oil that came in it and refilled with the amount that Honda does in the factory. I found that number online. I think it was something like 7oz, so I only put 5 in because the rest of the system already had some in it. Don’t follow those numbers. Please look them up. Good luck!
