  • Today we'll be discussing what a possible renewal for Techter might look like. While I don't think a complete overhaul is necessary, there are a lot of issues with both Wand, Talis and our class identity.

    As someone who recently started pso2 base, I feel sad that we don't get the special effects of some of the elemental attacks. The elemental down is nice, but being able to group enemies with wind or electric attacks is an interesting gimmick and would honestly help Wand players. For example when having wand change to a certain element a certain ability could trigger after certain number of hits or something similar. Like healing for light or converging pulling in enemies with electric hits. Also maybe bring over some of the other elemental attacks from base.
    Note to the reader, I'm still new to base and play it with looking at guides to a minimum, so I might have gotten some things wrong.

    Imo techer need more support skill , I would really love something like haste to applied attack speed up to entire party , float to applied slow fall to entire party , aura increase critical chance and increase pb regen when attack , regen heal over time , dispell to cure status ailments instantly , reflect to reflect projectile once , bio to put poison ailment on enemy , slow to applied movement speed down on enemy . Bestowing elements to party members weapon too .
    Make Techer semi-mandatory for party who want to have easier time tackling the boss .

    For starters, the headline script did seem to indicate they're looking over more plans like this. I agree, the precedent is a positive trend. Grants was basically hard hitscan even in the old PSO. Once cast, it had a long animation, but was unavoidable.
    My problem with Wand on its own is that I feel there's a lack of differentiation between its two artes. I can recall the names of most PAs, even for Soaring Blades, which has a bunch that all start with R, yet I find I easily confuse Wave Crash and Swift Smash all the time, to the point where I will not be able to name them here either. XD
    While the AOE arte has a pretty satisfying thud to it, the gap closer feels weird compared to any other gap closer, and lacks punch. You have to charge it but then the impact is very soft, and the charge feels sluggish. The animation is actually pretty close to the sword arte Guilty Break in base PSO2, and I really wish it functioned and felt more like that. Once you had full gear on Sword, Guilty Break would fully charge in an instant, and send you flying across the battlefield running even faster than Phantom's Shift-Verbrechen (if I'm recalling the name correctly). The impact on the other end was very snappy, and as someone who favors melee combat I find that to be very important. I'd love it if some factor in Wand's tool kit would cause speed-charging maybe, or at the least, I wish that Wand's gap closer had a faster, further approach, and a much more suitable impact for the wait time. Otherwise, I prefer to just cast a charged tech and use the quick cut function to close distances, enjoying that nice, massive i-frame attack. That feels, physically, like I'm doing the same thing, but better.
    I think Anti could be modified to reduce status buildup or speed recovery instead, like the buffs in Leciel.

    • @Cathy5614
      @Cathy5614  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Yeah the gapcloser is definitely weird because its designed to be similar to Heavy Hammer from PSO2 (and on the topic of names, Heavy Hammer was a much better name). But Heavy hammer had vertical tracking and if that wasn't fast enough (it wasn't) you had Ilzonde as an option. Other weapons definitely have better gap-closers in that regard.

    These are just my ideas and thoughts on improving the support aspect of Techter on top of your ideas.
    Overemphasis Compound: Adds additional effects to buff based off of last element tech used. All buffs last the duration of Overemphasis.
    Foie: Increase potency 3%, Down Potency 5%, crit rate 5%.
    Barta: Creates 3 barriers which halves damage taken, prevents knock back and reflects back triple the damage taken. Each hit reduces 1 barrier.
    Zonde: increases attack speed by 25%, and a successful side step creates a lighting bolt counter.
    Zan: Creates a damaging whirlwind. Potency of whirlwind increases the more damage you do to the enemy. (Not sure what the increase cap should be)
    Grants: Increases all Photon Blast generation by 20%, reduces current PB cooldown by 30 secs, and increases PB Potency by 15%
    Megid: Reduces PP consumption by 15%, Creates an additional attack on targeted location after using a Photon Art or Technique. 3 sec cooldown between additional attack.
    I did think about adding the associated element to the party weapons to have more element down factor. Instead I think Wand Element Revoke Pursuit should transfer the dispersed element to your party weapons: Wand Element Revoke Shared. This should last about 5-10 secs.
    Techter Talis should get an additional perk to Tricky Capacitor called Tricky Capacitor: Fortress. This would allow you to hold the skill button and apply the cards to the party instead of doing damage. It will tank/prevent death once. Last 10-30 secs. Puts TC on cooldown for 3-5 mins.
    Thank you for the video, and I really enjoy the grandia 2 ost. Takes me back to my dreamcast days.

    i think a way they can condense compound techs into one button is you hold the button & either input up or down (or scrolling the mouse wheel upwards or downwards) then letting go the button to activate one of the cts you selected. if you want to instead activate the ct that's displayed on the sub, you can just press the button instead of holding it to activate it that way

    Feels more like the overall issue has always been that they just don't know how they want most of the ranged & tech classes to work. The recent band-aid in the form of the Long Range Advantage skill is more than evident they just don't seem to know what to do with those classes. Hoping they do eventually figure out what they're doing, but I'm not exactly optimistic about it. Good video, and hopefully they take more notes from the community.

    • @Nlghtmal2e_PSO2NGS
      @Nlghtmal2e_PSO2NGS Před 7 měsíci +2

    I mean they could just a make compound tech button that decides the type you throw out based on the last charged element you used. So if you throw out a charged Foie you get a Fomelgion. This way it lines up with techters main form of elemental change and doesnt require any additional inputs

    • @Cathy5614
      @Cathy5614  Před 7 měsíci +1

      See but there is one problem with this.
      There are many situations where i'd want to cast Fomelgion or Zandion even though the fight is Light/Ice weak bd therefore I wont be using their respective elements.
      Fomelgion can be pre-cast when the boss is untargetable, zandion can be great mobility (Solus P1 DPS check comes to mind).

    In NGS, the elements are kinda like a sideshow instead of being a mainstay like Base PSO2, I guess that at least made sense as they kinda gave up on Elemental exploits and ended the Elemental weapons on Neos Justitean, however with the advent of PA Customization, I guess Techniques could probably also be transformed or modifiable with the same system just like how Base PSO2's Tech Crafting like, maybe even have Wand PAs transforming into something like Ely Sion's potential or something interesting for Wand or Talis improvement from a Turret to like a Hero Talis style, since Bouncer seemed like a throwback to Base PSO2's Bouncer speed instead of Etoile.

    • @Cathy5614
      @Cathy5614  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I'm definitely coping that the reason they chose Fire/Wind/Light as the first tech elements for PA/Tech customization is to fix those elements lacking Burst damage for Techter and Bouncer. But if that's really the case then I'm all for it.
      I can't even imagine what changes they'd make on Talis PA tbh but whatever they are I hope they're substantial.

  • @slipperynugget8268
    @slipperynugget8268 Před 7 měsíci +1

    My main issue with Techter is that it just feels like a lesser class compared to everything else in NGS i don't know if it needs a major overhaul but it definitely needs something. Wand just feels like a less put together melee weapon compared to every other melee weapon. Aside from genuinely liking the class why would you play it when every other class is right there? I get that techter is supposed to be the "support" class so maybe they don't want to go crazy with it but in my opinion the support isn't strong enough to justify techter's limited options
    1. Go all out with support. if they want techter to be the "support" class then go crazy with it. buff Shifta/Deband like crazy, make them the only class that can revive, maybe give them a few skills that can boost elemental damage for everyone in your party. Make techter truly feel valuable instead of a Shift/Deband bot.
    or
    2. Fully commit to making techter an actual DPS with some minimal support skills like they are kinda doing now. Actually make PA's for Wand, maybe give it a unique gameplay mechanic like bravery or slayer and make talis a viable bossing option. i can't tell you how tired i am of spamming wave crash and the 4th normal OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

    • @Cathy5614

      I was honestly quite surprised Etoile's wand Weapon Action was not part of N-Techter. It feels like a missed opportunity to give our 2 PA's multi-purpose effects.

    I only recognized DigiCurling BGM this time o: Nice nice.
    As for your thoughts, I am inclined to agree. I hope techter gets its own set of nice improvements :) It's important to keep all classes fun to play (I have a bunch of friends that really want tallis to become more feasible to play against bosses).
    As for Bouncer, I am still cautiously optimistic. I like what I saw with Soaring Blades, but seeing nothing about Jet Boots worries quite a bit :v We will see what happens (I really want Jet Boot Mechanics to become more consistent. specially everything revolving around Element Set, Elemental Decline and Tech Casting... they need to fit better into overall Jet Boots gameplay!).

    I don’t know if its a good idea or not but i think TE should be able to put elements on other players weapons too… they could work it into when you apply it to your weapon it leaves a ring with that elements color/ effect or something that player can run through to gain a elemental change to their attacks or something I haven’t thought of how to flesh the concept out but idk i feel like if we are going to be support then we should have some sort of support. I love the idea of overemph having a “cleansing” effect. I think that would work great. They should add another Charge and shorten the refresh of it.

    After I watched your video about the sion classes I got a idea: it's too soon to bring them to the ngs (since they personified end game in every aspect) wouldn't be cool if Sega introduced specializations like guild wars?
    It would definitely resolve the problem of adding too many weapons on the loot table and could give players different ways of playing it.
    One good example I thought would make a specialization for hunter where he could use the talis as a defensive weapon making barriers for the party and an specialization to the gunner where it has a sword just like hero's sword gameplay.

    • @Cathy5614
      @Cathy5614  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Specs would definitely be cool if properly balanced and developed. I'm a bit concerned the devs might not touch that idea because their idea for a spec in PSO2 was "do you use Fury Stance or Guard Stance" and "Are you an Ice Force, a Fire Force or a Lightning Force?". Until they reduced SP cost on everything and you could easily have all important skills in the world.

      @@Cathy5614 what I was mentioning is something more than just "add more skills to the skill tree" and more like how character progression works in games like elsword and kritika.
      Like when you reach level 100 you can choose paths to the class (and since this is pso2 you can change anytime) that completely changes the gameplay.
      Like as I mentioned, a gunner path that turns into a talisless hero. Or they can even make a force path that turns into a melee battlemage. They could even use this video as a example for a techter path.

  • @Vexal50

    Honestly; Techter needs a minor renewal and Rod-Force needs a major one. How does the *dedicated technique class* have no unique interaction with techniques? Why is it the only technique using class that lacks a true single target option for lightning? Why is it so dang weak compared to the other options when the other tech classes are just as good at aoe? Oh and don't get me started on how Maintain PP Gain has become a useless skill because we have too much PP regen between Rod Impact (with refreshes whenever we use a Compound), our increased passive PP regen, gaining PP on counter, Photon Flare, and being able to regen PP while casting techniques. And if we still somehow need more PP, we can just convert our HP into more PP regen....So *why does this skill exist?!*
    Other classes I feel need an overhaul are Fi as a whole, Ranger when it comes to Launcher, and *maybe* Hunter when it comes to Partisan

    • @Cathy5614
      @Cathy5614  Před 7 měsíci +2

      See that's the funny part. Lighting Techs are fantastic on Techter because while we wait for uncharged Gizonde to proc Zonde Clad we just use PAs in the meantime. It legit feels like a element made specifically for wand with how well all 4 buttons interact together (Wand PA and Lightning Techs). But then on Force that same element just feels like a wet fart because they dont have PA and uncharged Zonde takes ages to build clad, not to mention if used in parallel with Gizonde you end up wasting a few clad ticks, worsening DPS in the process.
      And yeah, they went WAY too far with PP on Force, to the point where many Fo players don't even level PP Conversion anymore...
      Something i haven't mentioned in the video (I forgor) is that a lot of OG classes simply copied skills from PSO2 just because. Shifta/Deband Extension didn't need to exist (extends duration to 3min) the base skill should've had that duration from the start. But PSO2 had that skill so we gotta copy it over. Thing is, in PSO2 it made sense because everyone could use Shifta & Deband. Techter having a skill to extend duration make it "unique". Here, Techter is the only one who can use Shifta/Deband so whats the point of this skill. Same with PP Conversion. It was a PSO2 skill that Fo/Te liked because Te subclass was comfy but once Et came out the lack of PP recovery from Te subclass stung. So they moved Techters PP recovery skill to Force's Skilltree, only to release 10 better ways of restoring PP later. Fanatic Blade ironically is also an example of that. They wanted to copy over Photon Blade Fever but people were tech canceling that thing to spam it as much as possible anyway so Fanatic blade was born. When what they should've done is make Fanatic a temporary Jupiter Tullus effect, which seems to be the case based on the Bouncer renewal video.
      But yeah hopefully we will see some much needed renewals. Launcher i heard is pretty bad too

      @@Cathy5614 >But PSO2 had that skill so we gotta copy it over.
      I noticed there's quite a bit of this in NGS. Element Set itself feels like it only exists because JB could enchant itself in PSO2. Giving Double Saber the passive whirlwind feels like a reference to the skill ring that lets you passively create Whirlwinds, but due to how it's designed in NGS its just infinitely worse since the spenders are almost never worth actually using unless its to reset the expiration timer....and because of how much damage WW3 does passively (and even before WW3, this same issue applied to WW2) it makes the other Fighter weapons not worth using as a main weapon.
