Its nice to have a selection now in this genre, you can do logistics over harsh terrain or just explore over harsh terrain, snowrunner still has a place for those who enjoy big trucks, but this makes scout class much deeper and interesting.
Now if they could make a game with the physics of mudrunner, cargo hauling of snowrunner, and scouting from Expeditions they’d have some GOTY material

The lack of revamped audio is disappointing. That was a big weakness for me in snowrunner.

Really hoped for better Audio. Like in Snowrunner, for a game where you only hear engine sounds 99% of the time, the audio is pretty lackluster and sounds cheap. :(
Same, im pretty sure a lot of truck enthusiasts or just people that love engine sounds and whatnot always wanted more realistic engine sounds
Crazy because mudrunner used to have orgasmic truck sounds
the whole games a cash grab cheap corner cutting with pram wheels on for the new players
@@physical54321 yeah it really seems like it. Just a quick repackaging of Snowrunner for some money with barely any improvement.
I actually like the exploration aspect more than transportation, but since i have snowrunner and this is basically the same, i probably will not get it until it's 50% of on sale or less, because it's not 40€ worth for me.

I think you can use the drone on the discovery parts to get the 100% in the highlighted circle area. Instead if having to drive around in circles.
Binoculars work too. I'd really love to know what actually advances the discovery mechanic.
Good to know as those bits are tedious. Though doing it with a drone is not necessarily more fun either. At least it's faster!
@@ATribeCalledCars Just imagine it, you're out in the wilderness, minding your own business, its quiet except for the rustle of trees in the wind and occasional birds. And then all you hear is nnneeeeeeeeeeeeee as a drone whizzes by overhead, and then nnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee as it goes back again, flying in circles. Its those damn expeditions boys again.
Wow can’t believe they didn’t improve the audio.
Yeah... it's literally the weakest part of Snowrunner & they just copy-pasted it with no second thoughts

The audio has been my biggest let down. To me the game looks great, the driving feels slightly improved and audio is exactly the same. Better audio could have definitely given me the wow factor I’m not feeling right now. I still like the game so far. My favorite change is how mud builds up on the tires and gets rinsed off in the water. Also oil drips in water is also more noticeable. I love those little details.

To my surprise( i purchased on preorder on a whim, not smart, I know) it's working quite well on pc.
The game all feels odd to me having really liked all their old ones... Controls are annoying.
The physics also seem more hard physics than the soft physics, at least with some trucks some tiny rocks or a tiny piece of tree almost feel like hitting a hard wall.
Even Snowrunner was already a bit more arcade in terms of physics than previous ones but I totally liked it as the best one in the series but this one I'm not feeling it much and seem more crappy on all aspects...
@@guily6669 Definitely. Im also not willing to jump right in due to all of the changes and improvements its taken Snowrunner so long to achieve. On top of this the controls are different, so I wont be jumping in until I am genuinely burned out on Snowrunner.

Thanks for the honest review. I was going to press the button and purchase early, but think ill now wait until they have ironed out certain issues and multiplayer available. Back to running in the snow for me!
Will perhaps buy it if it’s going to be on sale with a huge discount. But for full price - no way in hell.

year 4 pass is avaliable to purchase for snowrunner, which means at least 1 more year of ''updates'', new maps and vehicles

I have played it for a couple of hours I like the improvements especially the winches and the water scanning radar it's very interesting but I'm sure the game will unfold with the season packs that come out
When you need to explore those areas you can do it with drone and binoculars. This makes it go way faster. Sometimes if you get to the right position you can do it in seconds

One thing that im very curious about is the low gears feels... did it actually work as more powerfull now in low gear since ration is higher like in real life or did they leave it like snowrunner where its only about wheel speed?

The game feels like alot better of a base to work on and improve than snowrunner did at release alot less bugs and issues to iron out before doing dlc etc so it has some proper legs under it for the future

Looking at footage from Failrace it seems like you can use the drone for those missions about exploring areas
That's interesting, I shall be doing that. Definitely suggests the driving isn't the best if we would rather drone it!
I’m loving this game
Really wish the game had cool off-road vehicles like Ford Bronco, Raptor. GMC AT4X, Jeep Gladiator, Wrangler. etc.
Exploring can be done with the drone and binoculars. No need to drive around the area.

I got it last night. To be honest I would still be playing Snowrunner if there were more trophies. Once I platinum them it seems pointless to carry on. This is the best best thing.
New achievements and some player XP progression in SnowRunner would be cool but I suspect we will never see either. Enjoy Expeditions!
First impression after seeing a few other videos and streams is that, once you remove the gadgets, it looks and feels like playing SnowRunner using mod maps and mod trucks. Another reviewer also mentioned that, for them, there's more management than actual driving, which seems a bit of an exaggeration. If true, that would be kind of a deal-breaker for me, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. I loved the video, great as per your usual, and the humour (biscuits and amphetamines, heh heh). Cheers! //Rick
I feel it does lean into money management way too much. Definitely disappointed by it.
I just found an Easter egg in expeditions if you scan a QR code for one of the stickers that you can put on the vehicle

That's the 4090, I still feel sick about purchasing it but games do look lovely! I haven't listened to nature enough yet, will keep that in mind.

This game needed a day 1 patch - the low res ground textures on console is real! And jarring! Can’t believe they released it like that. This thing *should* look great.
I also keep crashing while scanning using a drone, put me off playing today.

Me and my friend found that when you are doing an exploring an area task you can go in drone mode and the mission will fly by.
There is a ton of popping texture in very close-up areas on my series X

Yeah, bit rubbish.
This game is almost unplayable on series x. This game stutters alot. When driving it stutters, you can Even see the river flow stutters. It only occurs when connectet to internet. First snowrunner was down for months and now this. Was sceptical of buying their next game.
I'm also getting heavy stutter on series x every few seconds it's really annoying.
@@Messy564 wish THERE was money back guarantee, had my doubts, since SABER had so many issue with snowrunner. At least snowrunner works now
Stuttering is the standard Saber experience. Deluxe is when the game crashes.
I just use the drone to get the area percentage up. Drive a little more and use it again
Yep, this is the way. If your drone limit is 80 metres then driving into the middle or near-ish can help. Or just get nearby with the range-extending operator.
Interesting but I really cba with the drone and messing around discovering an area.. suppose I just like hauling stuff on snow runner

Too bad the super rigid chassis remain. I guess we'll still see people saying, how come Spintires is so old and was able to do so much, better.

Do not blame you, it is buggy and unstable too.
So I'm soft locked in a mission. For some reason I'm stuck with an off road truck and I can't switch to a scout. Like I can't get into my garage or quit the mission or something
You can change vehicles through the map screen when in a mission, it's another silly change.
So how did the IVECO massif works??? (Cotco canyon)
So I came home early because I was really excited to play the game, and as early as the tutorial, my excitement for the game was killed by the fact that (on series x atleast) the game consistantly hangs for a moment every few secends (at shockingly consistant and really short intervals) regardless of if I`m moving, staying still, or navigating a menu (the menus become unresponsive and than act wierd), making the game nearly unplayable for me...
I vary quickly quick resumed right back into snowrunner, and will continue to make progress on season 4, untill Expeditions gets a fix, because as it stands such a fundamental issue is unacceptable
When in game :
1. Press Xbox button, scroll right to profile&system
2. Go to settings, network settings, and go offline
3. Now reconnect and resume game
Worked for me and few others, give it a shot!
@@OfiLion this workaround is a no-go for me because I like to listen to a podcast when playing snowrunner, and more importantly, I have my younger brother`s xbox set as my home console so that he can have access to my library of games and gamepass, which means that if I`m not connected to the internet, I can`t play at all
So how the year 1 pass work? If i dont buy it can i still get it later? Or can i buy just one season at the time?
yeah they always available and on sale too sometimes, you can get everything seperately

Co-op /MP is fixed in Snowrunner... I've had a few sessions for 3+ hours each without any problems !
I know it's only a small sample, but it was soild. Now the new game we need MP asap ! I see there is a menu for mods. Is there anything in there yet ?

I just got snow runner since it’s on game pass Xbox but I want to try mud runner before expeditions
MudRunner is more of a tech demo, I would recommend Expeditions as it is very different but definitely more of a complete game. But MudRunner can be had for dirt cheap so I guess no harm in trying!
Does your Cotco scout sound like it has two engines? I hate the sound it makes.

Did they fix the issue with shifting into low gear and gaining no torque?
Do you have to save or can you leave and come back to it
You get auto saves so you can go back to a certain point. I had a crash during a drone scan but I was able to pick up exactly where I left off.
Can someone please tell me how they get that car? It says I need a dlc, but the dlc isn't in the shop. I don't understand
try to look for dlc on ps5 version of the game or vise versa go to ps4 version and see if dlc is there to click on and download

There’s a rather crappy bug on ps5 where the close up textures don’t load properly. Then when you move the camera to certain positions they load in. Hopefully there is a day one patch tomorrow
The big trucks and hauling big shipments in SR is my favorite part of the game. Scouting is honestly my least favorite part about SR. This might be a pass for me and I hope they return the the heavy trucking/hauling aspect in the next installment.
scouting was what made spintires interesting,not constantly doing missions
@@votpavelIt's ok to enjoy different parts of the game. You enjoyed scouting. I enjoyed missions. Perfectly fine to have those differing opinions. I'll wait for the next mission based game.
I think cargo delivery is my favourite too, way more satisfying than scouting. The physics system is not quite good enough for it to be as enjoyable (though improvements have been made).
The achievements seem to be pretty different from Snowrunner, game looks good overall. Snowrunner was my most played game of last year so lord knows I’ll be getting this and putting a lot of hours into it!!

Better than SnowRunner but I do not think quite to the MudRunner standard.
Having skipped Snowrunner (so far) this also looks like a pass. I like the gameplay features over MR, but after many hours of Spintires and Mudrunner, I think these will feel too easy - getting stuck does not look like it happens any more, except on hard terrain or rocks. Thereby 90% of the challenge is gone. Appreciate the video!
They should add the ability to slacken the winch to SnowRunner

This game is so many more layers of bad than I realized at first....
I had assumed that the trade off for removing the option to use mod vehicles for game stability sake (I assume), I figured they would've been able to figure out multi-player on this game first, THEN figure out SR later.
Nope.

discovering an area is best done with the binoculars and drones. Don't waste fuel and time driving around.
Can we use a Full H pattern manual trans with an actual working clutch? Thats the ONLY reason im still playing mudrunner. Cant believe they removed that FEATURE. Im not asking to make it mandatory. Im just asking for the OPTION!! FFS.. PLEASE!!!
Is it better same or worse than SR and MR?
I think SR is better but I haven't played enough to fully say. MR was more of a tech demo but I know some prefer the handling.
@@ATribeCalledCars Seems like this game will not have high replayability as the game design has limits. Once you find xyz seems it will always be at that spot. If they could add procedural generation for missions on the same map I think that would go along way.
the main issue is that it is just not soo different from Snowrunner.. it needs more new ideas and improvements
I agree, it is really not a standalone game from what I have played so far. But I will not rush out a review.
Audio is rancid i cant lie, rocks feel way to bouncy. And i feel locked to the main quest where as snowrunner id judt go get lost for hours

ppl dont realize some trucks do really sound almost identical.... they should elovate AMBIENCE sound.

No Man's Sky really is exceptional for value, basically unrivalled. I still need to do the latest expedition, but not had time :(

I was extremely disappointed by the engine sounds. I don't think I want to hear snowrunner sounds in a new game.
Hiya Ben hope all is good? I shall be buying the game but I also am a little concerned over expeditions controls. Overall you don't seem too impressed yet I have to say.
You sense well. I need more time to be fair but I am not as hooked. I think the high, intensity and visuals of Pacific Drive haven't helped. Makes me see how epic the SnowRunner sequel could be. Expeditions isn't that so far.
Hey Ben. I have now given expeditions a few hours of gameplay. 1st impressions, I'm trying to play it like snowrunner as so many actions have become ingrained and the user interface is different and that is annoying quite a bit. I guess I will get used to it. Binoculars I like, though a bit more range would be good. The drone is silly and has far too small a range and cannot elevate up enough at all. Also needs more zoom range. Lights on the vehicles at night are poor too. Finally the perspective of the vehicle as you play I find far to close and would very much like to be able to zoom out and watch from a distance whilst gaming. The water sounder is welcome back though. Currently I feel like expeditions is an entry level or tutorial game to snowrunner. I like it but I was hoping for much more. Some of the vehicles sound like tired out hoovers too. The bigger trucks need some old heavy diesel idle noises. Maybe a bit of turbo whistle. OK, done now. Cheers mate.
@@altuck4x4 That's a good summary, definitely some good stuff but feels like a training course for the mighty SnowRunner. It's a shame because there are some good mechanics to enjoy but I think it's more of a cash grab to prop up the Embracer Group. I was hoping to make my review this week but I've had so many crashes I went back to Pacific Drive lol. More good than bad, I think. Nice to hear your thoughts, as always!
@ATribeCalledCars Pacific drive is my next mate. Watching you review it is very colourful and a bit in your face. The audio is lovely i really liked that. The background and supporting white noise of it stays though the game is very good, impressed with that. OK, let's jump in and do this.
Laggy as all hell on console with a lot of game freezing and fps dropps, hopefully there is still a day 1 patch

I'd buy this game if they actually implemented proper front/rear/center lockers... and actually damage the differentials if used incorrectly
As an offroader myself, I understand. But I see multiple unrealistic things in the game that make me realize this is not a true Sim, but neither does it claim to be. Just because it doesn't have proper locker options, you won't buy the game? How funny.

This "game" is more of a dlc than a whole game, would have been awesome in combination...

I one starred all the maps in Mudrunner and had something over 100 hours. I have nearly 400 hours in Snowrunner and have completed all the base regions and some DLC and bought the game day 1. I’m passing on this, at least for now. Where are the classic American vehicles? Where’s the K5 Blazer or the F150 from Mudrunner? Where’s the 1500 from Snowrunner? If I’m only scouting, I don’t want to look at these ugly Russian vehicles like the Don 71 for hours on end. The only changes that strike my interest are the new winch mechanics and the tire pressure mechanics. If they add some old school cool vehicles, I’ll buy it. An American Wilds like expansion maybe?

@@ATribeCalledCars my tip in using don 71 ditch that thing. as soon as you get any other scout like lo4f. don 71 get dmg in normal driving and its axels get unhappy on slithes bounce
