Gentlemen: first of all I applaud your efforts at attempting to make it a quantitative test. The only problem becomes when both machines are not equal in their parameters, such as weight and horse power. ALTHOUGH: you could make this a lot more interesting and obtain useful information as well as answers to your question. Find out the power to weight ratio of each machine. Then use a test weight in the performance range of the lower ratio machine. Then increase the weight of the test weight until it's the same test weight to power/weight ratio of the bigger machine. Now your comparing apples to apples and will get a meaningful answer as to which machine provides better engineering performance.
It's painfully obvious that the operator was purposely skewing the results in favor of the Kubota. And the Kubota is a bigger machine! I don't even like CAT, but if you are going to make videos, make a fair comparison.
I think it’s a 305 long stick too they have no lifting capability but can dig great
You guys actually got Cat to upgrade the 2018 305 and put a video out as a rebuttal to your video! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have a question, Why are you not comparing the same weight class? I bet you also believe the world is flat.
You should have a cat 305.5 Not a 305 in this video.
butt hurt
Not a fan of either but it doesn't seem like a fair comparison considering that cat also offers a 305.5, just sayin. It's like comparing a KX121 to a 305.
Is it possible the new Kubota was purchased because the cat was broken and not even working correctly? Would have been nice to show the hours on each machine. Kubota was brand new, cat was a year old, could have 2k hours on it. (And yes, I was working on a Komatsu yesterday that has worn weak hydraulics at 2250 hours.) So even if the two machines were the same size (which I'm not sure about) comparing a used last years model to a new model is not very useful.
Helps when u ues the same size Machine
Fun video, enjoyed it. (But like someone else side, turn the phone sideways :). Bring on some more tests!!! Kapper
I would take the Cat to the dealership and have them check the Hydraulics it seems that someone may have messed with the pressure relief valve.
Couple of problems here. I'm not a CAT fan boy not even close, I prefer Komatsu but in full disclosure I do own CAT equipment, due mostly to the great support from my local dealer, Milton CAT and the not so great support from the local Komatsu dealer, CN Wood. 1) Even if they used a CAT 305.5 the Kubota would still be 500lb heavier. They aren't comparing the same class machines. 2) The operator of the Kubota is snapping the boom all the way back during the lifts, the CAT operator is leaving at least 5 degrees.
Dumb test. One's a 5.5 ton and the other is only a 3.5 ton.. big difference
+Gavinder Vliet - The Cat 305 is a 5 metric tonne (sp?). The Cat 303.5 is a 3.5 metric tonne. A metric Tonne is 2,205 lbs.
The small Cats are made by Wacker Neuson. The equivalent Kubota will work the socks off the Cat every day of the week.
I actually built a 6’ tall by 300’ long walk out of these blocks and the Kubota u55-4 did the job but I felt like I was maxing it out
filming vertically is a crime
What is the difference in cost between these two machines?
Crazy to see how bad it was outperformed, Not even close. But as far as an entire brand i would still choose the caterpillar. I dont think there is even a kubota dealer within a couple hundred miles of me.
The U55 is a 49.5HP and over 12000 lbs. The 305 is a 41HP 11000 lb machine. Obviously the U55 would outperform it in a lifting competition.
Hi, the Cat 305 weighs 11,217 and has 40.2hp and 31.5 max gpm flow. The Kubota U55 weighs 12,335 and has 45.2hp and 39.4 max gpm flow. So the even though the Kubota weighs 1118lbs more, they should both be able to lift approximately the same amount with the dozer blade down. As we can see here they can not! Ha ha
+Troy M if that 1000+ lbs is focused towards the rear of the machine then physics dictates it would be more stable with more weight on the front end with blade down. You also need to take into account total length of track to blade.
Because when you a dealing with giant machines in the 11,000-12,500lb range, 1,000lb means nothing, right? Too funny.
I'm confused Troy, you seem to think it was a fair comparison. It wasn't. The 305e is in the next weight class down from the U55 - even the 305.5 weighs 500lb less than the U55 and it looked like the operator was dogging it on the 305.
The operator snapped the boom completely back on the Kubota but left about 5 degrees on the CAT.
what are a few pros and cons of both machines? I'm currently looking between the kx040-4, maybe the u55 but it seems a bit heavy to pull behind 1ton truck. also highly considering the cat 305e2cr. great video too!!
I used to pull a 305 e2 around with a 1 ton, i dont think you'll have a problem. The major pro with cat is dealer support, as well as having an easier time finding parts and there generally is a lot more info about cat machines.
I pull a 304 and 305 behind a 3/4 ton and SRW 1 ton all the time. Just make the weight is balanced on the trailer - no problems. Any machine over 10k lb and you basically need to pull it with a 10K GVW 1 ton or 3/4 ton or in most states you need a class A CDL - a 14k or 16k trailer leaves you only 12k lb or 10k lb GVW cap for a tow vehicle if you want to keep it under 26k lb.
you should test the kubota u55 with the newer cat 305.5E2
I prefer my Bobcat E45. I am not sure if it would be an apples to apples comparison, but I absolutely love that machine. And my local Bobcat dealer is friggin' awesome to deal with. Because I purchased it outright with cash, they gave me a two year service for no cost. I got three sizes of buckets and the thumb attachment. We originally got it for laying drain tile in our fields. But we started using it for damn near everything. It's small enough to pull with a 5th wheel two axle with our Cummins Dodge with minimal fuss and strong enough to do some really big jobs. We are tearing down an old barn and this thing makes it fun. The blade on it is one of its best little secrets. Most just use it for an outrigger but it is so nice to grade with. I would not use it primarily for that, but it does it quite well.
My E45 died with the arm over a burn pile fully extended. The insurance claims investigator determined root cause was a partially seated control module connector harness at the factory . You couldn't pay me to run a Bobcat machine again.
If that cat was a rental check your hydraulic pump pressures I bought one from cat rental and the pump was turned down it was putting out 18psi and should have been 25 psi they turn them down for rental purposes.
Not just Rentals. I was at the dealership today and found they had ALL the sales models turned down until they are purchased? It was entertaining but frustrating.. I was testing 3 of everything 304-305.5 & all (even all three 305 & 305.5) performed WAY differently. One couldnt lift the tracks up... They said it was due to inexperienced buyers and safety///?..
Necessita la traduzione
Are these models even comparable? I'd like to see this woth the next generation cat machine
I know why you’re not moving the machines, had a world of problems with the tracks on my Kub...still do.
Worked with cat. All i can say it can do more, than your tests😉
Great movie! We are waiting for more :) I give sub.
truthfully I ran that 305.5E and was very disappointed. its plasticity and uncomfortable. The push blade is made of very light duty material. The blade on the machine I ran was bent to shit. That Kubota is a beast
I bought a 303.5 back in 2017 brand new. It has been a disappointment. I traded in a 2006 303 I wish I had it back.
Lifting can be very important, but the primary use of a mini is trenching. It would have been nice to see a comparison of them digging.
I like the test. Not a apples to apples but nice to see what they can pick up. My 2004 CAT skidsteer can't move the big wall blocks to good.
He sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger. 💪
doesn't the u55 match up better to the cat 305.5 when it comes to weight and performance. wrong match up. but hey the 305 did good considering the disadvantage. The 305.5 would of been an equal machine for weight and horse power. I did enjoy the video and wish to watch more comparisons. I am a cat guy because off great customer service
I currently own a u-55 and owned a cat 305.5 last year. The kubota out performs the cat and its not even close. With the cat i could barley lift my trench compactor off the ground a foot 3,600 lbs. The u-55 will pick it up as high as i can lift it. The has way more digging force and more power to the tracks.
Same horse in 305&305.5
Bud Raber ‘Same horse in 305 & 305.5’, you may want to check the stat on that. What spec sheet are you looking at, current or what year?305= 40.2hp & 305.5= 44.1hp... Yet that is not the huge difference. Check the lifting weights. 305=front/blade down = 5159lbs, the 305.5 front/blade down = 5710lbs. 700lbs is a big difference on a
I have a Kubota 121-3 SS that I love in my opinion you cannot buy a better machine than a Kubota look at what Bobcat running their engines for years Kubota and Kubota is the one that designed their new engine that they just stamped Bobcat on. Bobcat did change a little bit of the design but not much they changed out the Barons on the camshaft to where there's only 2 instead of 4 when they should have left the four
Must be something wrong with that cat, because it does a lot better in other videos.
The cat is smaller
There are two areas you didn't touch that should be noted. First, is hydraulics. Cats have better hydraulics. And second is service. KUBOTA has not grasped the concept of service after the sale. Sure you might get it fixed if you can get it to the shop, but CAT comes to the job site and fixes it right there. With URGENCY. These machines, even the small ones were purchased to make money with. In many cases the purchaser cannot afford downtime to make that next payment. THAT is the real world that excavator owners live in. KUBOTA has a long way to go to get there.
Should measure to center of block
ever gall the connector pins or joint with a chain? you'll hate life if you do. Chain on a bucket hook much better.
The Kubota has nothing comparable when tracking 😊and hydros.
CAT was so butt hurt they had to make a video of their own with an "upgraded" machine. Wow talk about self confidence
12,000+LBS Kubota compared to a 10,000(maybe 10,400) lbs Cat. Pretty even comparison????? The Cat 305.5 is more equal to the U55 or the KX057.
+GRAVESSHOCKER 11,000+ lbs. machine (depending on model 10,800-11,400 lbs.) to a 12,000 lbs. machine. Not much of differnece...
+Ryan Alston Yes, I meant to say 11,000 or maybe 11,400,, but if we are being accurate, the U55 with cab and rubber weighs 12,550, so either way the Cat is more than 1000lbs lighter with less HP. Not an even comparison, the 305.5(at 11,950 with cab and rubber) would be more equal to the u55. A 1000lbs in weight and less HP makes a big difference, if we went the other way, the Cat 305 would be more comparable to the Kubota KX 121. I'm not putting down either machine, I own both brands but I like my Cats a lot more.
Go onto Takeuchi's website, select excavators, then select the TB260. Under the picture, in red on right there is a "product comparison" which shows about 10 machines and their specs. Good info.
www.heavyequipmentforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=131495&d=1424552008 Here is a good comparison including the Volvo.
CAT 305E 11,217 Kubota U55 12,535When dealing with machines that max out at 12.5k lb, 1.2k lb is huge. A different class actually.
Looks to me like the cat stick might be a little longer which is great except it negatively impacts lifting capacity.
I call BS on this! I run 305’s all the time and if that’s all you can lift you need a better operator 😂
kubota is nice and parts probally cheaper too.
That pump has to be week on the cat
ues a cat 305.5 it would be different and be the same size excavator
blade down for one and not the other? you guys are joking right?
Damn, vertical video? Really? With that aside, great video content.
Not a legit test. The Cat had much more capacity than was being shown.
I'm a Cat owner operator. This was not a Fair comparison.
Not an even comparison so why bother unless dishonesty is your motivator?
APPLES TO ORANGES BOYS...PROBABLY SHOULD STICK WITH COMPARING LAWN EQUIP...I.E. PUSH MOWERS
This doesn't surprise me. Kubota has been the undisputed king of compact excavators for centuries now.
i just did everything they did on mine and mine did a lot better then the kabota
You can clearly see the operator setting it down. This test is fake.
Operated cat 308 and kubota KX80 both about 6000 hours. No repairs at the Kubota, full power. Very strong drive, very powerful. No leaks at all. Dry like dus. No cracks at the boom although heavy hammer and rock work. The CAT - leaks here and there, very weak drive, some repairs already including welding of cracks at the boom. I prefer Kubota!
cat fans are gutted !! interesting video
I own a cat and it’s fuckin junk IMO
Someone will be dabbling the tears as grown men do after any test on u tube that pushes heavy equipment.Everybody tests against KUBOTA,why is that people?
Not really a fair test, and yea it was a little biased
Guy clearly made cat lose
test a bobcat and kubota
HerrHalmakenreuter ..... Bob cat and Kubota are pretty much the same thing. they also both use same engine.....
헐 여기장비들은 어케 인양고리가 없네 ㄷㄷ....
Is the cat a kitten?
Doesn’t the cat cost a lot more? Hhmm not good cat
Its simple if you want to pronote kubota u let the kubota win if you want to promote cat u let cat win
Utter bullshit clearly the boom was pushed forward faster on the lift tests, I have the same cat and kubota they are equally capable of doing the same things, why not show the operator in his cab watch his hands your test is bullshit,
Just saw another video of the Cat 305e2 lifting 3,250 lbs about 10 ft high and 10 or 12 feet out. If the other video was accurate than the Cat beats the Kubota. Type "Myth Busters: Cat® 305E2 Mini Excavator Lifting Demo" in the search bar.
That was a seriously dishonest comparison. Or a great troll video.
Sent this to cat
Kubota 👍👍😊😊😊😊👌👌👌👌👌👌
Kubota all the way. I have a kubota SVL95-2 skidsteer love it!
that's 305 cat can do a lot more than that ..this video is not right
Update the relief valve. The CAT will be an entirely different - better - machine. Your CAT dealer will know exactly what to do.
The hydraulic force is limited on the 304 and 305 - there's only a few HP difference between the 304-305-305.5 yet there is a huge difference in lifting cap and break out force. I didn't realize you could 'update' the relief valve. I thought you had to cajole a dealer into turning up the hydraulic pressure out of factory spec.
This vidio is ajoke. I have a yanmar 35 that will do more than what these are both doing. It faiily easy to see this is fake
Kubota all the way
The blocks actualy weigh about 3555lb. 6x2x2=24cf, 27cf=1yd, 1yd of concrete=4000lb
k 2 c 1
Rigged. Trying to make the Cat look bad.
Kubota all the way caterpillar has nothing
this is fake
kubota all the way cat is a toy
Kubota way better than a cat. My kubota 40 loads and unloads those blocks in my f550 dump truck and carries them just fine.
Given the multitude of factors which may help to decide the brand and model type of mini excavator purchased, I doubt that this 'test' will provide any insight!
To exclude an excavation test in a test of mini excavators is irrational at best!
Фейк
Just seems like the operator wasn’t using the cat U cant hear the hydraulics the entire time. But with the Kubota u can
The yanmar beat the ass of of a kubuto!!!!! And not sure I believe this, Cat has some serious strong hydraulic
The yanmars we have been renting definitely don't hold a candle to our old u 45 with 6600 hrs on it.. Had a 35 and a 55
I Have ran both Kubota's are just yard toys
I'm buying a Kubota
the cat has to fully extend
4 minutes wasted watching bs
this is unreal kubota is crap
Agreed
Geo Thomas the cat weights a 500kg less, they had to put a cat 305.5 vs u55
Kubota must've paid These guys for this poor comparison
Doesn’t the cat cost a lot more? Hhmm not good cat
