Today I pan and sluice Cedar Creek, which runs from Little Cedar Lake Eastward to the Milwaukee River. We also explore the science of surface tension, and hold today's paydirt drawing!
Really enjoying these trips out into nature. Just to sit an hear the babbling krik is lovely... Plus getting the kids involved in this ancient pastime keeps it alive. We've just had our rivers shut down by NRW grumble... Thanx Buddy :D
Good job man! Way to be on showing your boy how things are done👍. That was a good peice of gold for what you were finding at first. Also congrats to the drawing winner, looks like some cool stuff.
That's realy cool!! I liked your gold floating demonstration. So many people are always asking me, "What do you mean? gold don't float..." I will point them into your direction. I subbed Thanks and glad to see another Wisconsin Prospector. Im from the north on the edge of good old Lake Superior.
Heck yeah bro I didn't forget. As soon as the kid is out of school for the summer I will definitely have more time, and I will totally come up there to go digging! I hear there's more gold up north than where I am!
I finally got my first gold pan which is the Garrett gravity trap, I'm still figuring it out and haven't had much luck finding too much gold. But with time I'm sure I'll get better. It's nice to watch videos like these to give me hope to find some wisconsin gold, but anyways great video and goodluck out there! Also that pay dirt has an incredible amount of variety, I especially like the emerald!
If you look up how to find the paystreak in a river, basically it is a straight line from the tip of one curve to the next, if you dig along that line, people tend to have the best results. It's where all the heavy stuff trickles along the bottom of the river. Sometimes it's a few inches wide, sometimes it's a couple feet wide.
@@phoenixflame6048 And don't get discouraged! Just try a bunch of different creeks. Some will give you specks, and some will give you absolutely nothing.
I had to look up where cedar lake was, it rang a bell but I have never fished there. Cool video liked the footage and the show, you ever wonder how far down you would have to go to reach bedrock here in Wi? I know where I am south of you, we have gravel pits, and one they stopped digging a long time ago and it's a small lake that is one hundred and eight feet to the deepest spot and it is still sand and gravel.
I think it really varies! In nearby Lannon, they mine Limestone right on the surface. Actually, that gives me an idea. I might go check out a Creek in that town since it's right on bedrock!
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 it was nice when we went yesterday water wasn't even cold lol 😆 just a long drive 😅 planning on hitting a few places closer to my home town of Clintonville some spots look really good.
Great explanation to surface tension wonder how much gold is lost while river sluicing too bad a surfactant couldn’t be used while sluicing a river/creeks
I neglected to seal down that black flap which was there just to direct the water over the dream man and not under it. But because of this, I was worried that the heavies just get sucked under the black flap like a riffle, and then get lost. Ideally I should feed it up higher, though.
You don't have the heavy cheese head accent? LOL Like flower gold wiz. He sounds just like my brother that lives in Antgo wis. Just found your channel and like it I subscribed :)

Congrats James !!!!!!!!
Thanks dude !
the surface tension explanation was the best one that I have heard thanks
Great video, very informative, awesome looking gems in your paydirt as well, thanks!
Unbelievable how the water tension works. Enjoyed the video
The surface tension demo was the best ive seen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I feel smarter now!
Each one of your videos gets better and better love your channel
That means a lot to hear! I watch them like 10 times before I publish them to make sure they're not dumb LOL!
I liked you water tension expirament, and your paydirt is awesome
Fun Time. I will definitely be bringing some jet dry. So a few drops is enough for each pan. Great demonstration. Thx again.
About 5 drops for full pan yes. I keep a small bottle with me in the creek so I don't lose the tiniest bits test panning
Nice video. I like the science lesson! My kid actually has to do the experiment with the water and penny today! Too funny. Congrats to winner!
Enjoying the channel that looks so relaxing.

Great demonstration of the meniscus dome on top of the penny. Keep up the great work.

@@wisconsingoldrush8270 I haven't yet but I am trying it this summer. Rumor has it that they are here
Way to go!!! Thank you for the mathing lesson

First time I've ever won anything! Lol!
I really dig the channel, I'm definitely spreading the word.
Thank you, bro, that would be awesome! Congrats on the win, too!
Keep up the good work buddy!! Way to add some insight on the scientific side. Remember the invitation to come up north is still open.

Great videos. Picking up tips to try next month.
So interesting to see gold being found in Wisconsin. I live in Michigan and hope to be giving this a try this summer ! Enjoyed watching :)
Good luck hunting! I hear Michigan has some really good spots here and there!

I can't wait to find gold in a creek one day! Nice video!
Hey thanks man! Diggin in creeks is good exercise!
Looks like (cold) fun.
Well done! Great lesson🍻!
Thanks I hope it was informative!
Next week I’m going out for my first time and can’t wait. Keep up the good work.
subbed! cool vid my friend !
Good kob on the video bud. I liked the demonstration with the surface tension on the penny. Keep up the good work.
That's not a sluice! It's a single bed with some sluice mat. Enjoyed your process, looking forward to the next one 💛🏴

Awesome video 👍went out yesterday with Flour Gold Wizards. Video should be posted soon. Gota get together some time and go for gold.
Thanks! Should we hit Nugget Lake again when it gets warm in a couple months? Invite anyone who wants to show up?

I'm down for meeting up just about any weekend to hit a spot tho. You're like 2.5 hours north of me I think. Thats not a bad drive.

Put the material on the metal part of the Sluice and use the entire length of the Sluice. 👀🤔🤠🌵⛏
