Throw-over Saddlebags for my Honda Nighthawk 450

  • I bought these used generic throw-over saddlebags for Panther (CB450SC). Normally, I would carry my Ogio backpack but if I had to do a small grocery run, there wouldn't be enough space for milk, eggs, and bread. So the saddle bags should do the trick.
I did a quick walkthrough of the bag's features, fitted them on the bike, and did a short grocery run. They looked too big on the Nighthawk 450, and I wasn't a fan of the stainless steel studs, but for a third of the price of a brand new one, I can live with it.
Hit that like button if you liked it, and as always, ride safe and thanks for watching.

Yeah, the bags definitely do come in handy. Nice job.

I have some similar ones. It may be a pain in the ass, because I know it was for me. But I actually took the seat off, and laid them over, and put the seat on over them. Then you don't have the eyesore of these strapped together pieces of pleather hanging over the back seat. But for some reason, it really was a pain to get the seat to snap back in place. But, eventually I got it. They sit a little lower though. That's a rider specific issue though. Lol. I utilize my saddlebags almost everyday, and it's a necessity, because right now my bike is my only transportation. The zipper on the bags gave out on one side, so I carved some small holes in the fabric that runs alongside the zipper itself and put zip-ties along the whole thing. They hold just as well as the zipper did, so, so far so good.

+SamusMaXximus I tried that with mine but I was afraid to tear the "leather" or break a latch. I can imagine getting more creative with mine but it wasn't a necessity like in your situation. Sometimes, I literally just throw it over and don't even bother tying it down. That's some creative stuff you did there. I'd like to see it if you have a video of it.

How has the bike held up in terms of reliability? I'm looking to get my first bike and many have recommended this particular model as an excellent choice for a first motorcycle. Just looking to grasp an idea of what I can be expecting with a 30 year old bike and what to look out for with this model. Also, your introvert video really added fuel to the fire in regards to me making the decision to get a motorcycle haha.

Hey Brady, I’m wondering where you got the cargo rack for the night hawk? I’m having a hard time trying to find a sissy bar/ cargo rack that would fit my bike!

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT REAR RACK?! I’ve been looking for one for ages as I do food delivery and hate wearing the backpack.

It was already on the bike when I bought it.

I have some similar bags but took them off the bike for better appearance (I think)...I'd put them back on if road tripping (seldom anyway). I keep a lightweight Academy Sports backpack on the bike in case I need to carry something home. (Honda Shadow Spirit).

lakecrab I agree. These bags look awkward on this bike because of the short wheel base and think I'm going to take them off.

They don't look that bad all things considered. Also, how's it riding? Sounded like it is running better?.

MarkusReese I've noticed that the hesitation only occurs in low RPM's and only when the bike is not warm enough. The backfiring only happens when I'm going downhill... I know it's weird... but I'm thinking it's because fresh air is being sucked back into the exhaust and combusting unburnt fuel when going downhill?

would have been better to see how the bags perform, like stuff stuff. it looks pretty obvious tho they pack a lot of groceries. definitely enough groceries for a week for an introvert ;)
