Abbys determination for revenge basically cost her everything. She gained nothing from killing Joel, and only got everyone she cared about killed murdered because of it.
I don't think Abby ever cared for her friends. If she did I would think she would have grieved and she didn't.
Both of them having the need for vengeance cost them everything in the end.
I don't think she regretted it. Remember it was her father who was murdered by Joel. Her mission of revenge had strong support and she saw it through aided by the idea that her dad was on the cusp of saving humanity.

They took a man's now adoptive daughter away from him at gunpoint to maybe find a cure that they have no means of distributing, all without even asking Ellie. They thought themselves as saviours but were in many ways as bad as those governing the surviving cities and outposts. They brought their ultimate fate on themselves, and they knew how dangerous Joel was and still just decided to escort out of the building rather than shooting him. They were doomed to fail.

If you really think about it, they most likely didn't show Nora's death because she's a black character. If we actually got to see Ellie smashing her skull to a pulp, there would be complaints about TLOU2 being racist. That being said, I'm black and I wouldn't have been offended by seeing Nora's death uncensored; Lord knows, this game has enough negative controversy as it is.

@@matthewbott3726 She didn't beat anything. By the final battle, she was already past the point of no return and lost everything. After all this, Ellie is broken and alone. Her worst fear realized. Letting Abby live after all this is not a satisfying conclusion by any means.

That would somehow makes the game somewhat redeemable but that’s not what they want you to have. They don’t want the players to be able to make a choice which is really strange in this type of game.
Did the first give you a choice when it came to Marlene?
Of course they didn't. Because they knew every one would pick the logical choice and kill Abby.
If they did a telltale walking dead scenario where you can choose and shows what percentage of people chose to kill or spare Abby I guarantee it would be a 99% for killing Abb. The other 1% is accidental button presses
I feel bad for ellie, she never forgave joel face to face, but that just made it sadder not accepting an apology from a person who is already deceased will linger in your heart forever. Just heartbreaking. And she actually still loves joel like her own biological father. But joel was like a father figure to her, so just the feeling not being able to apologize to your parents is already hurting me from the inside.

Robinson Huso a vaccine that probably would’ve been used for worse than you could imagine by the military and bandits. A vaccine that wouldn’t stop people from dying by the infected, or cure the infected. The vaccine might save lives but it would not save humanity. The only endured way for survival is if Ellie has kids and her kids have kids. But the fireflies would’ve killed her then and there to manufacture a vaccine which probably wouldn’t have been deployed worldwide. They would need large scale factories to mass produce it and they have one fucking hospital. The fireflies are smart, they just wanted the cure for themselves

They were stupid people too, part 2 they deliberately leave out the fact in the first game they did find people immune to the virus from the audio recordings but died during trials. And Marlene was power hungry too.

Additionally, they were liars who promised Joel guns in return for his shipment. Remember, he never did this for free, he just became to invested in his cargo ellie as a daughter. They couldn't even get him the guns he was promised and instead sent him on his way to die outside defenseless after stealing all of his belongings with no intent to return them. The fireflies were fucks and deserved what they got. They were the ones who threatened Joel's life first AND ellie's.

First of all, we just see fireflies in the end of the game. We never or see them in the mid game or early game, just in the end.
Second, fireflies could make a cure to this outbreak but because Joel's jealousy there won't be any cure

Using cutscenes and dialogue to expand the characters and their motives works, but they didn't do that. They make countless amount of people play as someone they loathe when so many of them would choose to just have them be killed. You have no motivation to progress with an awfully written character for their own awfully written causes.

Or, look at it this way, if Tommy hadn't put up such resistance in the first game, maybe he would have taken Ellie off Joel's hands. Maybe he would have let Ellie die for the cure. You can't say it's all his fault, but his decisions certainly shaped the story in more ways than one.

I could have understood your point at least a bit if Abby or one of her friends at least explained to Ellie why they did that, but they didn't and Ellie finds it all out only much later in the game when it's too late to stop. That bitch even has the nerve to act like Ellie and the members of her group should be thankful that they spared their lives. We all have an issue with how he died, we all expected him to die this game but the fact his character was disrespected and killed off the way he was was a huge back-stab to all the fans and supporters of the game. He should have died protecting Ellie either from people or zombies, but we didn't even get any closure between Joel and Ellie. This was a huge middle finger to fans and I hope the TV show is done differently. After the first game being as great as it was this was the biggest video game letdown I've ever seen. So glad I didn't buy this.
