I saw the movie the other night. No question about it, these two songs and the performance that went with it, were THEE most powerful parts of the entire movie. I was truly stunned about how good it was.
Its crazy to think that this was sung live on set!!! No pre-recording for this song in the movie!

Iv seen this movie twice now and I broke down crying both times while watching to this scene, the emotion they both portay in both acting and voice is unmatched in my opinion. I haven't loved a new musical like this in such a long time.
One of the most interesting versions of this song is by Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews which on CZcams is entitled "'A Boy Like That'-Julie Andrews & Carol Burnett at Carnegie Hall".

You really shouldn’t say original motion picture soundtrack. It made me think you were reacting to the original movie with Natalie Wood which I’m sorry is so superior to this remake. I went to the remake with a friend of mine. Now I saw the 2009 revival on Broadway of west side story and I honestly thought the original movie was better but experiencing it live on the great white way was an experience to behold. But this remake was a joke. A catastrophe. An insult. A bunch of bologna. A horrific scene to fathom. An abomination. We got to the cool scene and I couldn’t take it anymore screaming how bad this movie is since it was me and my friend being the only ones I the theater. She agrees with me and we walked out. Why ruin something when it was already perfect and all you could to was make it better. It can be done. Take beauty and the beast live remake. The only thing wrong with that movie was Emma Watson. They took the original and tweaked it ever so slightly.
But you’re comparing Emma Watson who was picked for her looks and heritage over Rachel Zegler who can actually sing? Natalie Wood didn’t even sing in the film
It's not a remake. It's another adaptation, the Spielberg's version is the adaptation of the Broadway Musical which the 61 movie wasn't.
You can have an opinion but calling it a joke ? Really ? You're just a hater.
First of all this version gives more context to everything and more character development, we actually understand why everyone act like they do, then the acting is WAY better, the actors ALL really sing and they all do it well which wasn't the case in 61. The Sharks are ALL Latinos and not white people in brown face. You're just a hater, probably mad that Latinos are reclaiming THEIR story.
