    ------------------------
“A Boy Like That/I Have a Love” is part of of Bernstein's "West Side Story", orchestrated originally by Irwin Kostal.
Irwin Kostal, another great musician tied to Julie as you can see his name appear on credits of Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, The Julie Andrews Show and a few of her records.
AND he was the musical director of Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall, so he got to accompany these two great ladies with an orchestra here as well.
The Parallel Julieverse has written a great tumblr post about him here: paralleljulieverse.tumblr.com...

Periodically everyone laughs, because we're so used to Burnett being funny. But it's a very dramatic, dark song. They are both incredible

They sing it beautifully. I forget what an amazing voice Carol had. It’s not an easy duet.

SInging so pure and clean and so beautifully while sitting down. I can see Carol shouting as part of character and to be heard while Julie just sings and it, what a wonderful, funny and sweet contrast. They did the same medley many years later for President Johnsons inauguration.

None can't ever tell me this is not better than the original! It's BRILLIANT! And Julie's voice is freaking much the purest instrument! WOW! AND WOW!

It's really a pretty brilliant song. Operatic, and sounds very difficult to sing

This came at the end of a very long continuous medley duet taking the audience on a musical journey of the history of stage musical. From the first note forward, the medley was designed to showcase both their comedic and vocal skillsets. It actually was about 10 minutes long and they just sat on these stools on an empty stage and sang one song after another. The comedic highlight came from Julie trying to master the right accent for 'I cain't say NO!' from Oklahoma, only to endure Carol's exagerated cockney version of Wouldn't it be Loverly. My favorite moment is watching their complete control over their audience, right here. Carol's comedic turn here, gaining just reward in laughter, just stops, as she lowers her head to allow for Julie's bittersweet and genuine solo, and then the final hamony, perfectly blending the soprano and alto voices. Its the total command of that audience and their voices all through the duet that impresses. They are already very comfortable and experienced by this stage in their careers.

Julie sings Maria’s part in this song. Ironic, considering that she would famously go on to play Maria in the film adaptation of The Sound of Music. Although this song’s from West Side Story.
    What an icon

That was glorious! The early comedic expectation because of Carol - but it turned into a gorgeous and poignant performance. Those two beautiful women remain great friends to this day! This is a treasure.

From childhood, doesn't she call it freakish? Burnett holds her own, esp. for a latecomer amateur who didn't know she could perform or sing, talent will out.

Julie❤️and Carol❤️, what wonderful artists they are. But apart from their talent and beauty, I want to say that their dresses are really beautiful. I find it adorable the way their asymmetrical necklines are reflected like in a mirror, and their corolla skirts are delightful. I would love to know who designed and made them. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful videos.😊

I cant get over how small Carol's waist is. Sure, I know, corsets and all that jazz - but it's TINY! Watch the end in particular.

Bob Mackie. He began designing for CB when he was just in his early 20's. Very talented, so many of her dresses are wonderful. He did the curtain rod dress, too

@@G6JPGCher mentions on Carol's birthday special that she would wear Burnett's Mackie gowns on her summer series because they were the same size. Love how their sleeves intertwine here as they clasp hands & rise together to receive their applause,

They're both great singers, but I don't feel the message of the lyrics lends itself to comedic delivery. I wish Miss Burnett would have toned it down a bit at the beginning.

It's funny given the context of the original vs. Burnett & Andrews. But not for long, they of course make it their own, but without tragedy.
