    Who has told you that bollocks about 3 launches allowed on the DSG. There is a counter on the ECU but you are not limited to only 3 launches, you can launch it every day for the next 3 years and it wont invalidate your warranty.

    I agree about all round package. I have the manual and in comfort especially on dual carriageway and longer drives it pulls effortlessly. Overt taking is safe because you can get up to speed and out of the way. I've had so many cars, from a Nissan Nismo 370 with turbo and uprated Armytrix exhaust, a Jag, Cooper S, fast Fords like the ST. This beats the lot. But this is super practical for the whole family. And it's a sleeper. I get an occasional knowing nod and smile but most drivers would just think it's a regular five door hatch. I did seriously consider the Golf R but there are too many around.

      hey, how's the car been treating you? I'm considering buying a Cupra 280/290/300, but also the Golf R is juuuust a tad bit more, but I worry about torque steering on the Cupra

    I am always quite critical of car reviews, the obvious being it's only one persons impression and interpretation of a car but, this is a good, genuine and honest review. A coupe of points if I may, tyre noise, what brand does the 2019 come with? I have the 2018 300 which came with Continentals and to be fair on some road surfaces are quite noisy but nothing compared to my previous car, a 2015 Octavia vRS on Bridgestones it was awful! You mention the plastics, I have found that to be the case across most brands. The places we least see or touch is where they can save a few pennies because basically will the customer really care or notice, I don't but I get your point. My car is a manual so the DSG box I can't comment on other than it would certainly annoy me! The most annoying thing I noticed within minutes of picking up my car was.....No bloody sunglasses compartment!!!!! My Octavia had a nice felt lined compartment and the Leon has nothing, it's the small things mate isn't it :-) :-)

    @seugnimod9g Před 5 lety

    Thanks for the vid!
    About annoyance no 1, I think that if you compare to the same build of VW or Audi, you're paying around 8K€ less. I think that is a great price difference when comparing it with its "Brothers".
    About annoyance no 2 I can understand you because I also thought that was going to happen, but when you floor it in an auto, there is no way to tell it you want to race or not. I would just put it in manual and use shifters.
    Keep the videos coming, mine arrives next week :)

    Just got my new one last week. Have to say I don't have the kickdown issues with the dsg in Comfort with half throttle. It'll hold the gear within reason so dunno if something has been changed since you filmed this. I tend not to use the paddles but I know what you mean about how small they are, kinda pointless but I think the glue on extensions for the get in the way of the control stalks. Found myself flashing lights by mistake when trying to use them. The tyre roar is really bad though yeah. Totally agree on the modes, I tend to drive in comfort most of the time and jump to Cupra if I want to give it some. The sport setting never gets used. This car seems to get great fuel consumption. I'm going to be changing my e90 325d (3.0) at some point and I originally thought I would go up to 330d just to stay with diesel but still have an engaging fast car to drive. Fyi no I absolutely wouldn't get a 2.0 diesel because they're way too slow and I'm not driving boring cars yet at 23😂
    I do over 10k mile per year so normally I'd go diesel, but these 3.0 diesels are only OK on fuel. I'm getting 41-44mpg when I'm driving normal/hard sometimes, so really not that good. Can go up to 47-47mpg at speed limit on longer motorway run.
    Add to that I put premium in because its older and I wanna look after it, and I drive it harder so the DPF doesn't block up, I'm pretty sure my fuel bill will be about the same. So getting a 3 year old cupra I'd put probably 50/50 premium and normal unleaded, same as I do in my motorcycle.
    So there's no more than 10mpg in it, and I could get regular fuel as well (I never buy cheap supermarket fuel regardless), seems like a no brainer to me.
    Looked at the golf R and S3 as well but you're looking at £4k more for a used S3 and there are just too many golf R's on the road driven by dickheads.

    Can't say I've noticed excessive tyre noise. The steering wheel and paddles are the same across the whole group vw/audi included. The down shifts when you accelerate are like that because it's a hot hatch / performance car. The hard plastics at leg level and below are for durability, if they were soft they'd get ruined.
    You nailed it when you said you average over 40mpg, buying this car has been a mistake if you achieve that and with the gripes you mentioned. A steady drive for me sitting at 70-75 for 25 miles on the motorway returns high 30's mpg. You must be really driving it like a Sunday driver.

    As someone who came from a top spec Audi A3 1.8 Quattro, the build quality isn't that bad in comparison, the car handles and feels a lot better to drive in my opinion, the DSG box feels better than it did in my 65 plate A3, DSG works better with more power so it suits the Cupra very well. Paddles are the exact same as on my Audi too, with the same plastic. Honestly I think I've upgraded on the car, the interior may be slightly less premium but I'm also only paying £30 more for the equivalent of an S3, driving is so much more fun and connected to the road.
