I was wrong about safety in Denmark - you could be too

  • They tell you that Denmark is a perfectly safe country, with almost no crime, right? You could be wrong, as I was. Let me show you why that is not true.

    You can never leave something visible in your car and be sure the car has not been broken into when you return. Sad, but that is how it is.

      Yepp, now I know. I had to learn the hard way. I guess it is an adjustment process.

    Have had multiple bicycles stolen, but that's the worst of the crime I've experienced.
    Overall, I feel very safe at any time night or day

      The point is, there are much more thieves than in most other European countries.

  • @onetruth4926

    Yeah theft is kinda a huge problem in Denmark, but ppl here are extremely defensive and kinda brainwashed that they live in a utopia so they will just get mad when you point it out, nice country to make some money in and then leave for somewhere warmer (and for warmer people too)...

      Thank you for your comment. I needed it.
      I like the people in general, but I think it is difficult for any person who haven’t lived abroad to look at their own country objectively. It was hard for me and it for sure is hard for Danes.

    I'm not going down the ACAB rabbit hole, but I do more and more wonder what the police actually still does. Because catching crooks sure doesn't seem to be their main core business anymore...
    Having said that, it probably wasn't the best move to have your laptop bag in plain sight in your car. Regardless of whether you're in Denmark or in El Salvador, that's asking for trouble. Next time, just drop your laptop bag off at home, or at the very least leave it in the trunk/boot of your car so it's out of sight.

    • @beyondcloudbase
      @beyondcloudbase  Před 2 měsíci

      Looking back, it was obviously a mistake. I figured it won’t be to high risk for 10 minutes.
      I am actually most upset about the police not lifting a finger. I understand the chances of finding the crook is low, but at least they could have tried for half a day before giving up.

  • @mateuszzmudatrzebiatowski5495

    Thanks for the video. Do You think it is safer in Aarhus than in Copenhagen?

    • @beyondcloudbase
      @beyondcloudbase  Před 2 měsíci

      Difficult to say. I haven’t lived in Copenhagen, so I don’t know. There are probably statistics about which region in Denmark is better, but I don’t have the details. I would guess that smaller towns are better, but I have no data to support that.

  • @tdahli
    @tdahli Před 2 měsíci +2

    Hahaha ... that you thought it was an utopia or that any utopia exist is very funny. There is no country without crime and there is nothing the police can do about this in any country ... however frustrating that this may be.
    Denmark is still one of the safeste countries, but this does not mean that you can turn off common sence.

    • @beyondcloudbase
      @beyondcloudbase  Před 2 měsíci

      I did not expect it to be a utopia (Do I need a sign for irony?) but that is what the youtubesphere about Denmark is saying. And saying that the police can do nothing is difficult for me to understand. They could, you know, investigate. Their job is more than just writing speeding tickets.

    The data on theft reports is masked data on insurance prevaliance and local conditions for insurance payouts. Data doesn’t lie but you have to understand the dialect it is speaking…

    • @beyondcloudbase
      @beyondcloudbase  Před 2 měsíci

      This is an interesting angle. So what do you think the data says? If it is inflated due to insurance, why is that not like that in Germany or Spain or Norway?

  • @chlordk
    @chlordk Před 2 měsíci +1

    If you get stolen properties worth less than 100,000 DKK (15,000 USD) the police do nothing.
    95,000 male danes were convicted in 2023 and 30,000 male foreigners, so it could very well be a dane who did it.
    Greetings from Denmark.

      There was only 4223 in jail in 2022, I don't think it has gone up with more than 120k since then. And out of the 4223 was 45% foreigners. Where did you get your magic numbers from?

    • @chlordk
      @chlordk Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@pipperen9688 You'r right. The numbers are from statistikbanken STRAFNA3 and is about "convicted".

      I saw somewhere that only 2% of convicted thieves go to prison, but I can’t confirm it as I can’t find the data.

    Denmark is extremely safe. Your video makes no sense. It is one story because someone left his laptop inside his car at night at plain view. But yeah, Police is too slow to react.

    • @beyondcloudbase
      @beyondcloudbase  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Safe considering violent crime, but very unsafe when it comes to burglary and theft. That is reality, supported by data.

  • @kubluu

    The irony is that most crime in Denmark is committed by foreigners, or people of foreign descent. The prisons contain few ethnic Danes.
    Without immigration, Denmark would be closer to Japan, and wealthier too, since many foreigners don't work in Denmark.

      We all know this, but it doesn't fit well with his woke mentality. I left the crime ridden UK for a safer and more tranquil life in Hungary!
