On Ren’s twitch channel, there is an almost 1.5 hour video from his livestream on Illest of Our Time’s release date (March 29) which also was his 33rd birthday. Watching it, you will see just how humble a guy Ren is. He was brought to tears when he saw multiple reaction videos for “Illest” posted about 45 minutes after the video was released. Also Justin Hawkins did an interview with Ren this week and he is going to post the video sometime in the next few days on his CZcams channel.

Ren's mum is a vocal instructor. His Dan is a folk musician, his aunt Ruby Gill has her own channel on CZcams. His terrible struggles aside, it seems his life was blessed with the gifts of music from a very early age.
The Hunger is a fire track and the tales are brill! He’s such an amazing storyteller. Well he’s amazing at everything and beautiful inside and out like how dare he not leave some for the rest of us 😂🖤
It's so much fun to see a Hunger reactor saying "Bars!" and rewinding repeatedly before they even get to the golden ticket or the helter skelter. 😄 I just buckle up and lean back to enjoy the ride with them, cos I know how high the roller coaster of this song goes from there!
Ren is special. Whether he is rapping, singing, playing one of many instruments, or telling us stories as a modern day bard. There is just something about Ren. Hope to see you continue down the rabbit hole. Nothing but greatness down there. I suggest checking out Crutch feat. Bibi. Absolutely stunning piece of raw emotion.

As you know, I was itching to talk about the trilogy … so this is long 😜
Ren is such a storyteller! The imagery is so clear, you can almost see the characters. He’s able to switch between the narrator and each character so effortlessly. And the guitar melodies capture the emotion and each character so well. Ren said that he practiced the guitar parts for Violet’s Tale every spare moment he had so that he could just flow with it.
And yes, each of the tales were recorded live. It was filmed by the same person that did Hi Ren. Samuel Perry-Falvey did a fantastic job yet again! Even the bit when Screech got shot was brilliant. And in Violet’s Tale, every space added a different acoustical element. My favorite was when they used the tall stairwell. It added to the Violet’s tragedy. Came from an abusive father and alcoholic mother to an abusive boyfriend, which is often what happens 😿
A few things that you pick up once you know the twist and watch it again:
Jenny walked the streets late at night about a thousand times before, in high healed shoes … and it’s not until the end that we find out that she is only 14 years old. So it’s no wonder she wanted to escape 😕 I wonder if the sensation she felt when Screech was near was because they were twins or if she had feelings when bad things were about to happen. Maybe a bit of both?
Screech is understandably painted as a villain, but he was only 14 years old and clearly fell into bad influences. Also note that Screech’s best friend Patrick wasn’t home, and his girlfriend was busy … coincidence? Probably not. Jenny took after her mother by freezing and staying silent in the face of danger. Screech took after his father with uncontrollable rage. Can you imagine being in the neighborhood when Ren is yelling at the top of his lungs as Screech? 😹
It’s tragic they weren’t allowed to grow up together. Even though their mom was dead and father likely went to prison, you would think they would try to keep twins together. But they probably fell into a bad foster care system. I wonder if their lives would have been different if they had grown up together, or if the generational trauma and cycles of violence would have continued? The sad thing is, their stories likely aren’t far-fetched.
In Violet’s Tale, I didn’t really understand the two, zero, zero, five until later. It was 2005 … Screech was 14 … the original Tales of Jenny & Screech were released separately in 2019. Violet’s Tale didn’t come out until 2022. I’m glad Ren put all three together. It’s like a one-man 3-act play! Bardcore at its finest!
You should also check out the live version of the trilogy he did. Ren shared a poem he wrote that gives us a bit more sympathy for Screech:
“There is this lie that we have either Yin or Yang.
We are neither, and we are both.
We are Apollo, and we are Dionysus.
We are Jesus, and we are Judas.
We are the healing hands of Mother Theresa,
and we are the poisonous tongue of Adolph Hitler.

I also think it’s cool he added King Arthur since he was born in Wales. Welsh Bards helped spread the Arthurian legends … and he refers to his style as Bardcore 😉
Also … since he often refers to being influenced by the 90s I believe the “home grown” is a double. There was a band called Home Grown: “Home Grown was a North American ska punk/pop punk band formed in 1994 in Orange County, California. They released three full-length albums and several EPs before disbanding in 2005. Their music is often characterized as pop punk, lyrically favoring humor and silly or satirical subjects.” I could see him being influenced by that style.

This and Hi Ren are my favourite songs ATM. I feel like he shows more range in this one & I've never seen anything like it, playing different styles, singing & rapping while coordinating his steps & acting out all these different characters. It's hypnotic. Ren created little shorts about Screech's backstory (on tiktok I think) which have been brought together in a YT video.

I like how you did these particular videos back to back so you’re able to see the different stylistic facets of Ren in one sitting, makes it even more astonishing seeing just how diverse his talent is - I listened to the same two songs after hearing Hi Ren for the first time. By the way. Not sure you caught that Violet was Jenny and Screech’s mother, they grew up not knowing each other. So yeah, he killed his sister - lot of people don’t catch it first time.
I'd like to request this song (so you can know Ren better) and understaand the different layers of his art. This song "Patience" by Ren czcams.com/video/284ugnS_ruQ/video.html was written 8 years ago before he was diagnosed with Lyme Diseases. He had been suffering with M.E and bed ridden for 6yrs. 🤩🤩

Finding new reactions to Ren never gets old!! It's definitely entertaining to see how surprised reactors are when they hear everything he can do. Then learn about his story and start to find out through his fans how humble and genuinely grateful he is for the support and connection with everyone. The more Ren videos you do, the more fans will tell you how much we absolutely love that guy!!!

How long does it take him to write something like this? Well... about 4 years. He released the three parts over a span of four years, so I don't think the entire tale was written at one time. He just sort of kept adding to it until he came up with that amazing twist at the end.
Since you didn't comment on it, did you even catch the plot twist at the end?
Ren calls this style of music Bardcore and here's the origin story of the trilogy 🤩😁🤯
This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read in the paper one day with a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute in an attempted robbery and then being shot and killed by the police later that evening. It disturbed him, so he set out to write a commentary on not just senseless violence, but on how desensitized we are in today's society. This wasn't big news, it wasn't even front page, being buried somewhere 0n pg.6 or 7. The main example of this is in the words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with "It's such a Shame". We say these words all to often and just move on without a second thought. The article quoted the lead inspector at the scene say " So Young, Its such a shame" shaking his head, he walked away.
Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding another layer of commentary by Ren. Not only generational violence but making us think of how both these lives be so cursed. Born out of violence on the same day and then both killed with brutal violence on the same night. Also, his lyrics have multiple meanings if read in between the lines you'll more then likely hear something that'll make you think. Here's an example of things that made me go Hmm...🤔🤔
Example: Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Where as Screech mirrors his father Stevie in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily prone & provoked to violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. Yet, what made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits in their genetic make-up or Nurture, being brought up in the broken system of broken children?

I rather feel sorry for those reactors just now hopping on the RENegade train by doing MG3, but before they'd bothered to watch MG1&2, or the Tales, or even Hi Ren...they probably recognize MG3 for the artistic masterpiece that it is, yet completely lose out in all the significant and meaningful context that underpins the entire song, from the relevance of the hooded characters, to the refrain from Violet's Tale hummed on the beginning then sliding over into the Money Game 'theme' music, to the last to lines pulling from both trilogies..and there's only ever one first impression, and I feel for those who didn't know or just didn't bother to get to familiarize themselves with Ren's music, his story..like they lost an opportunity that they can never get back. But,
Happy Day for us, 'cause we've loved Ren since the get go, so Cheers! to us, and Cheers! to Ren for making all this incredible music possible. 🌈ᥫ᭡
