  • The New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v4 is the racing shoe follow-up to the SC Elite v3 - and it's had quite the revamp.
    The Elite v4 sees New Balance make changes to the upper, midsole, carbon plate design and the outsole in a bid to make it a better match for the super shoe competition.
    Testers Tom, Laura, Mike, Nick and Kieran have all been putting the New Balance carbon racer through its paces to see if it's a better match for the competition and should be on your feet for your next marathon or big race.

    I just bought these because New Balance has a wider higher arch comfortable fit.
    I've enjoyed the RC/SC Elite line and New Balance shoes in general and will use these for faster long runs. Probably gonna get the Alphafly 3 for race day if they ever make them available.

    Been running in this for a while now, and i love it. Compare to V3, there is no more sinking feeling, unstable ride. The new one maybe taller but its more stable and definitely bouncier. No sinking feeling on this one and yet soft and comfy enough. I can compare the midsole to nike next% but maybe more comfy. The plate is quite aggressive and that helps propel me forward more. Its roomy enough in the toebox, has enough allowance for your feet to grow after running a few kms. Love the profile, nice looking shoe, a real head turner especially when i use it walking in a mall. My only gripe is lockdown. The toungue is too thin such that if i tie it tighter, i feel pain on top of my foot, and if i loosen it, it wont feet nicely. No heel rubbing whatsoever though, no heel slippage also. Got a different colorway though, i got the most conservative color, black and chalk colored midsole

    Hello!! Great piece of information, as always. Thank you guys for doing these reviews, and please let my pockets have some rest. Cheers from Colombia!

    My heels got complety crushed in these v4. I loved the v3 for faster long runs, never had problems with my heels in any shoe (nb, nike, adidas, saucony). Now I‘ve got 2 holes in my heels since 1 week already. I would recommend to check that before buying!

    I’ll buy this for training long runs. I absolutely love my V2 for longer runs in the training block.

    Excellent reviews. Very good analysis and I enjoyed listening to the different viewpoints. My big takeaway is it is definitely not a PB marathon shoe. That heel damage was terrible. I bypassed v3 and I'll bypass v4 too. The competition is so fierce these days and I'm thankful that is the case.

    These are the most beautiful plated shoes right now ! And that color combinations in the upper are 10/10 .

    I’ve decided to order these 🙊 $320 blind buy. They seem to be getting overall good reviews with some mixed feelings - I’m a US13 in a minimum 2e width - so if I wanna try a super shoe this is it. Could squeeze my foot into whatever Nike Alpha or whichever it was I tried but tight as anything. Wide size twisted my arm. Wish me luck. I’m not a runner these are for walking (my body is a mess) but I have to admit - I am extremely excited. Beautiful design and yeah I’m about to have my first “super shoe” probably my only ever 😂😂

    Wore mine for the first time in my tempo session on Sunday. Overall I absolutely love them. My Elite v2 were one of my favourite shoes, but were never a choice for race day. These I'll definitely race in. I did have some heel rub (not to the degree that Keiran had, but still a bit sore). I'm hoping that playing about with the lacing and possible heel locking will cure this.

    Seems like practically every major brand has a fast version 4 this year: SC Elite v4, Hyperion Elite 4, Endo Speed 4, Endo Pro 4, Adios Pro 4

      But the very beat wil be the adios pro 4, some elites are trainnung in them and the coments are fantastic, is nasically an evo 1 but denser and more durable .

      To my knowledge (and those of for example Kofuzi and Believe in the Run crew) the adios pro 4 is a adios pro 3 with a upper change; circulating pictures confirm this...

    Do you know whether NB will make a version of this shoe in a wider fit? They are the only brand that offer wider fits across most of their product line, I think the last model was offered in wide. (Saucony also has wide options in most of their shoes, but not their racing shoes). I'm really hesitant to 1/2 size up on a normal width shoe, because I think the placement of your foot impacts mechanics of the run, and if the foot is too far back in the shoe I won't get the benefit and might risk injury

    I still think there priceing themselves out of the market with these shoe
    I don’t see a reason to pick them up over the cheeper Nike vaporfly 3 or the slightly more expensive alphafly 3
    Not too mention the other brands super shoes like mizuno , adidas ,saconey

    can you compare this shoe against Adidas Boston 12, Saucony Endorphine Speed 4, Asics Novablast 4, and Nike ZoomFly\Pegasus\Invinsible series. thanks.

    • @jeroen1989
      @jeroen1989 Před 3 měsíci

      Apart from the boston, endorphin and zoomfly they don't compare; totally different shoes.
      Boston: heavier, higher drop, more suited for daily training with some speed sessions when needed. More dense foam. More durable.
      Endorphin: Less soft foam, higher drop, less propulsive plate and less rigid, more durable (1s and 2s at least).
      Zoomfly: only comparable by having a plate, furthermore just loses in every category from this shoe.

    I’m certainly NO expert on running shoes & even less if an expert on like top tier marathon shoes 😂 it does seem like New Balance have made perhaps a more accommodating comfortable - & perhaps a super shoe that maybe more suitable for more people? Like yeah top tier runners can use this but maybe more so your lesser runners hobby type runners looking for a marathon runner that they can go for personal beats but that will last a bit more and be a bit better for “general” people. If this is a successful shoe - I’d love to see NB do a version 5 - but perhaps they can also do a shoe like going crazy going as light and responsive as they can to maybe see if they can challenge the Nike’s? I’m getting interested though especially New Balance. Having wide sizes in their shoes available - & the 1080v13 being so successful for me (my favourite shoe ever and I used to play basketball - we are fanatic about our shoes) I’m really loving New Balance. I have big wide feet and arthritic feet too so extremely tough to find shoes. Extremely tough - but the 1080’s are it 👌👌 so excited to have this on the way

  • @jameswestmoreland9717
    @jameswestmoreland9717 Před 18 dny

    The Elite V4 appears to be something of a replacement for the SC trainer. Why bother with SC tainer when the FF More and 1080 are great trainers.

  • @dkmchui
    @dkmchui Před 3 měsíci +1

    First and foremost for most average runner this needs to be comfortable to wear and has enough room in the toe box. I would rather run with Superblast and finish the race a couple minutes slower then wear a pair of shoes that squeeze my toes in the entire race.

  • @jameswestmoreland9717
    @jameswestmoreland9717 Před 18 dny

    But that V4 price! I only paid $125 for the V3. But $250?

  • @fayecooper4277
    @fayecooper4277 Před 3 měsíci

    Got a pair right here… first run in them was a “tempo” and these things are a little too friendly for anything fast… fit is comfortable. the heel cup is deep but kinda of sloppy. The ride … meh…. I’ll use it for long runs with faster paces in there. Not a workout shoe.

  • @timtrenholm3698
    @timtrenholm3698 Před 3 měsíci

    Ya, that heel design screams heel lift. Some people will get along with it perfectly fine, but for those of us who traditionally can have heel lift problems, probably best to steer clear of this one.
