  • Everyone wants more distance & to hit solid irons don't they? They sure do. This is a great drill that will allow you to get both. Imagine how good your game will get if you hit the driver longer and hit solid irons right on target.
    Although this is a simple drill it takes work. You don't do spend hours on this but why not do this at home daily when you are at the range and you can even think about this when you play. The more you do this drill the better you get at it.
    Along with this drill I give you a mental image that will allow you to understand the concept. This image is something everyone has seen before. So keeping this in mind as you do this great drill will allow you to remember it long into the future.
    So if you want more distance and hit solid irons start doing this today.

    Love the visual of the bicycle tire for the arc! I decided to purchase your Body Swing package and am so glad I did - full of great additional information to help me become the golfer I want to be. All I have to do is follow your instructions and practice, practice, practice! Thank you, Paul!

      Glad you liked it. Just do this daily until you get the arms extended. Make it a habit. Over time you will get rid of any chicken wing etc. in other words become obsessed with it. This will literally take your game to a whole new level.

    Paul, you continue to give us gems to work on our swing. All of these in sync with your “effortless swing” have helped me improve so much. And that “easy,loose” swing thought has helped me feel the club head and at 70, my distance with each club is better than when I was younger. And no stress on the body! Thank you!

    I'm a fairly long hittter, and it's usually by accident, and im not consistent with solid contact usually. I pictured my swing like i was holding a baseball bat when i used to play. I decided to go to the range with the way you were saying to do it today with looser arms.I can not believe the distance and the accuracy after doing this. I could never hit my low irons to save my life, and i was absolutely shocked how i was hitting my 4 and 5 irons today. I was consistently hitting my 4 iron right around 200 yards, which i have never done with tighter arms and trying to kill the ball. Plus, my back dont hurt either like it usually does at the range . Wow!! Is all i have to say, and thank you very much for the tip. I should've done this years ago.

    Hey Paul, thanks for all the great videos and tips. Just started watching your stuff yesterday, went to the range and hit a bucket of balls and can't believe the difference. A question I have for you is do you wear a glove when you golf, as I've never seen you wear one in your videos. I ask this because I've never worn a glove, it just seems unnatural to me, but have had a lot of people tell me recently that I should. Just curious to hear your thoughts on this. I actually just bought a glove today and was planning to try it out at the range tomorrow morning before I play and maybe play a round with it. Thanks!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety

      Very good. So glad you found me. I haven't work a glove since I was 16. Back then for a good leather glove they were $16. I was going through a glove a week and couldn't afford to wear one. The synthetic gloves were not like they are today. If they were I may still be wearing one. I just don't ine it necessary though. Totally up to you if you want to wear one or not.

    Hey Paul, another great lesson and thanks for all your work in making these videos for us. One question. Should I consciously extend my arms through the swing (it seems that would be using my arms to swing) or just let the momentum of the club head (completely relaxed arms) pull my arms to full extension? Right now it seems I'm consicously extending my arms. Thank you!!!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety +1

      Glad you liked it. At first, you need to extend them. Get used to it. Then allow the weight of the club to pull them to the extended position. N o one ever loosens up to the degrees I want so you need to help it. Beware of the fat shots.

  • @donisenberg3032
    @donisenberg3032 Před 2 lety

    I found something that has helped me to both extend more, and to loosen my wrists. When I take my grip, I interlock with two fingers of my right hand (I’m right handed) on each side of my left index finger, leaving only two fingers of my right hand on the club. I can no longer ‘hit’ at the ball with my right hand and I release the club head on both the back swing and the follow through because my left hand isn’t strong enough to manipulate the club. And because my left hand isn’t strong, the weight of the club causes me to let the club reach full extension as centrifugal force takes over. The club just swings freely as I turn back and through. I get great ‘whip’ this way.

    Another great video Paul - your Body Swing program and videos have improved my swing mechanics so much the last couple years , I realize it’s my putting that is keeping me from lowering my handicap further - I need to find a putting “coach” who is as excellent as the Paul Wilson full swing coach

      Thanks and thank you for the support. So glad The Body Swing is helping you. Putting is easy. My record is 56 in row from 15 feet so you have some to the right place. Putting is simple. You need to be target oriented. Imagine a ball in your bottom hand. Thumbs straight down the flat surface of the grip. Feel like you are throwing the ball at the target. That will move the face to the target. NEVER think about your stroke.
      Practice only long putts 30+ feet and 6 feet or less. That's it. Do that you will be great.

    • @dougpicciano6470

      Thanks Paul for your response and help - I use a claw grip with my right hand as this hand has gotten a little twitchy in my senior years - so my RH thumb sits to the left of the putter grip - will this still work with feeling
      Like I am throwing the ball at the target- or will putting both thumbs straight down the flat surface of the grip cure a twitchy right wrist/ hand?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety

      Well give it a try. Not sure it will work. You need the throw to the target so whatever makes you do that then do that. Just keep your mind off the stroke and it will work fine. Target target target.

    After watching your videos, I've been able to analyze flaws in my swing based on comments you make. I've always been an arms golfer, not using my body to generate speed in the swing. Following some of your tips and drills, I'm seeing improvement in my consistency. I want to video my swing to view my hands, arms, etc. through my swing in slow motion. Do you have any advice on any specific equipment to use (player) as I can't seem to find a video player that will slow down like your videos? I enjoy your videos and am seeing some improvement from your help. Thanks in advance.

      Glad you like the tip and are improving. That's what it's all about. As for video the iphone seems to shoot super slo mo crystal clear (I have an older Samasung Phone). I would think the new Samsung does the same. You need at least 120 frames per second to make it somewhat clear. 240 it is pretty crystal. We shoot with GoPro 7. You could pick one up on ebay for 200-300 max. You could also get a DJI Osmo. This is even better at 240. So it's not about the player. It's about how many fame you shoot it at. As far as the player on your computer or mobile device I have VLC player. Free player that had frame by frame.

    Great video and visual. Question. As a biofeedback idea if my knees are touching at the end of my swing does that ensure I used my lower body correctly? Thank you so much for helping all of us!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety +1

      Glad you liked it. Thanks. The legs touching is one of my positions. So if you start to make the move to touch as soon as you start down then yes it will get you using the lower body correctly. In other words, you can't whack at it with the arms then touch at the end. That's cheating. Making the move to touch allowing the powerless arms to follow is the key. You can literally be working on this at home daily which is what I keep telling people to do. This is the fastest way to get this stuff. You get this and your powering the swing with the legs and hips not the arms. This will take your swing to whole new level.

      @@paulwilsongolf Thank you. I have a club by the couch and constantly pick it up to practice this. Another feeling I have to keep from using my arms is feeling like my lead arm stays on my chest longer while I use my legs. Keeps my from pulling with my arms. Is that okay as another feeling to have?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety +1

      That's great. This is what it takes. Make sure you are hinging and rehinging to get the wrists super loose. Yes, the arm connected to the body is fine. Move the body to move the arm. Loose wrists releasing to get the power.

    Hello ,Paul The problem I'm having with the Body Swing letting my arms move because of my hip turn.it making me get stuck and I end up pushing the ball. Help!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety

      The last section of The Body Swing is called Fix You Own Swing. You need to learn the 2 drills. The push would be that you have the right path. You need to loosen the wrists doing the roll over drill. So you get it hooking then you add body again to straighten it back out. You are pushing it because you are firing the lower 100%. So the first thing you need to do is roll the wrists from the top and hit 10 hooks in a row. This speeds up the release. Now you can drive the lower harder to straighten it out. If you blow it right do it again. Do this but early: czcams.com/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/video.html
      Here are the drills (wrists):
      czcams.com/video/M868QsTlGt4/video.html
      czcams.com/video/N-nGM6yN790/video.html
      czcams.com/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/video.html
      Remember to roll it from the top to get it hooking. Forget direction. You only care about the spin.

      Most all pros teach the L to L drill\. It's been around forever. For this explanation I want you thinking about extending the arms. Usually I am having people roll it from the top and getting it hooking which would be quite different to what others teach.

    I am 70 and have problem turning my shoulders . I am able to hit ball solid and effortless but ball goes left off tee or with an iron. How do I compensate for lack of full shoulder turn?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Před 2 lety

      For those who have trouble turning the shoulders I typically get them to lift the left heel and turn the hips away from the target going back. The bigger turn (no matter how you do it) is going to be better than not turning. czcams.com/video/DPkgxvsy9CA/video.html
      Give this a try. The shot left is you tilting left. So if you stick with your current turn you need more tilt. czcams.com/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/video.html
