@@chrisrakow9745 they don’t need their help, they just need to follow their example. The problem with the AC movie was that it strayed so far from what AC was that it was basically unrecognisable as having anything to do with AC. If they took out the Animus(or whatever that thing was), it could’ve just been a film about a guy in the present interspersed with flashbacks of some other guy. Take the great stories of AC and Horizon and just turn them into shows. Don’t mess with them too much and the people that don’t play games will enjoy them for what they are. I don’t know what percentage of viewers of TLOU weren’t gamers but I bet it was a sizeable chunk of them.

@@chrisrakow9745 I'll take a 6 season Grand Theft Auto anthology that adapts the stories of the first five 3D era games (GTA 3, San Andreas, Vice City, GTA 4 and GTA 5), culminating in a 6th season that releases alongside Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2030 and features the same story as the game. (This comment is sarcasm in case it's not obvious)

Same with resident evil. Instead of having a show about an established main character (besides a wesker that apparently survived re5) they made an original storyline with characters you cant care about. It doesnt matter which gender or race any of them were, they would still be trash. Labeling everything as woke anytime it has a black or female character in it is how the term lost meaning long ago. There are good ways to switch things up and there are bad ways, the RE show decided to go the lazy route so it ended up terrible outside of Lance Reddicks acting (yeah he looked like blade but he was the only part of the show that wasnt terrible, if it gave him a decent storyline and made him the main character it may have at least been ok)

It’s both, people have gotten so used to the subversive messaging they don’t notice anymore.
Def agree the story for resident evil focusing on the dad instead of the tough rebel daughter would have been way more interesting.
Anyways, the Halo show is a better example of being trash because of story changes. At least was watchable since wasn’t extra woke.
Ironically the Witcher story changes dont even bother me , it’s just the blatant progressive woke crap that has ruined it.

They learned, they just don’t care. They would rather promote their work agenda, than produce quality stories. Their track record over the past 4 years shows that
Don't feel too bad Jenkins. You got to twist around episode 3 and 5 at least. Plus whatever you do to season 2 or whenever you get to adapting part 2 of the game, it won't be hated much more than what was originally in game.

You know it hurts because you can honestly believe that THIS is the reason why it succeded.
The lesson is that when fans say they want to see a live action adaptation of a video game... they REALLY mean they want to see the exact thing they saw while they were playing but in live action, which is basically not an adaptation at all! just live action shot for shots 😅

I have played The Last Of Us Part 1 at least a dozen times, & I can say that this show is the best videogame adaptation (film or movie) ever! It does what any good adaptation should do; be mostly loyal to the original source material, but change just enough so there's something new yet still enjoyable to watch. For example, about 80% of what we see in the 1st 3 episodes is from the 1st few levels of the game, but the remaining 20% is things like expanded backstory & more development for certain characters we didn't originally get.

@@atanor9787 I cannot comment on Arcane as an adaptation because I know nothing about the game. What I can is that it was brilliant without knowing a single detail about the game. It was simply a brilliant piece of story telling and character development.

They had to block it from they’re minds as it’s too traumatic
It also helped that the games creator is executive producer on the show.
The reason The Last of Us worked as well as a series was that the game was basically written that way in the first place.

To be fair though show does genuinely make some noticeable changes, like when Joel askes tommy to take Ellie to the fireflies, there isn't this underserved tension between them, and Ellie doesn't run off with a horse to the abandoned house.
Instead Joel pleads with his brother to take her so he doesn't go through the trauma of loosing another daughter which Tommy reasonable understands. And Ellie gets an actual say
"What did we learn?: Absolutely nothing". Truer words will never be spoken.
I can recommend listening to the show's podcast about behind the scenes and it's really good.

Hollywood on game adaptations in the past: We don’t understand gamers because don’t really play video games.
The moral of the story is so true: they won't learn from this. They'll try spin-offs and knock-offs but they won't remember the simple recepe of just "adapt the good story".
