To have 2 would mess the film
So instead they just went the probably logical route and chose Kano instead
That way the could flesh out the grudge between him and Sonya if he ever comes back for the sequel
And 2, we'll really have something to look forward to in the sequel

I think the real reason they were complaining about the Dick Punches was because it was highly effective tactic Johnny kept spamming
But saying "His move is too effective" wouldn't fly in court, so they went with the "sexual assault" angle
The counter argument to the "it's sexual assault" is to point out that lots of other kinds of assault, attempted murder, and murder happen at an MK.
But the difference between those other things and the dick punch is that the dick punch is childish AF.
Just to remind everyone, Johnny Cage won't be in the new movie because the Producer said and I quote "I early on felt uncomfortable having a white male lead kind of lead that charge in the first movie."
Should make a sketch of Johnny suing the Producers for discrimination especially since hes one of the original characters.

I hate the producer the main character of mk has always been liu kang well except in deception
Tbf there is a lot in the acting industry where white actors take roles away from people of colour example Scarlet Johanson in Ghost in the Shell playing a character that is literally a Japanese woman. Mortal Kombat has a diverse cast of characters and having the joke character that's literally a white actor be the hero would be playing directly into that issue of white actors taking roles from others. To further that point the main protagonist of Mortal Kombat is Liu Kang a Chinese man so it would actually be taking a role from a person of colour. It's not them having a shitty racist reason, it's that there is an issue in the industry and having a literal white actor joke character as the hero plays into the white actors take roles from people of colour and that the white guy always saves the day which combined made them uncomfortable with it. If you had a cast of massively diverse characters but make the hero the white guy again it basically makes it like 90-95% of movies in Hollywood and makes having a movie of diverse characters pointless if those diverse characters are just left to the side in the end. Like it's fine having a white person save the day in your movie, but when you have the opportunity of doing something different and to show diversity you should do it.

Johnny Cage or Liu Kang are sort of the MC's of the new Mk games, they could probably make it work as a fish out of water story for johnny. Instead of it just being a random character, created just for the movie.
I’m not saying it wouldn’t work. That was criticism of Tom Cruise not Johnny Cage. Though.. he’d make a good older Johnny cage. I sort of want to see the young cocky smug Johnny cage show up in the movies first snd then become the Johnny cage in The newer MK films over time.
But, yea I remember years ago when they were trying to make a top gun 2 with younger actors as the lead. They couldn’t get Tom Cruise to agree to it unless they made him the main character. I don’t remember what came of it, cause I didn’t think a Top Gun 2 is necessary. Especially 30 - 40yrs later.
Just add something about scientology in it somewhere regardless of plot or sense and Tom will agree to be in it for free.
