- I honestly can't believe that Charles Martel continues to be a solid investment as a commander even half-way through 2020. ► I do feel that while Charles Martel has increased in relevance leading into Season 4 of kvk, I suspect that role will start to diminish leading into Season 5 of kvk with the addition of Theodora and YSS.

The counter is really constaintine not martel. Constantine and Richard can do too.
Since you gonna have support tree Richard can line up a damage reduction buff. As long as you not rallying with edward/Alex,Richard should be better in any other case. Even in the case of saladin, because the existence of constaintine, you should still do better.
0.2% actually 1 single gold start is 0.12% staring upto 6 stars so your 530 odd martel sculptures is worth about 80 to 90 gold stars and thats very good and makes a difference
@ChisguleGaming I’m still waiting and hoping that ROK will put king Leonidas on the mobile edition of this game. I’m over trying to get Ceaser at this point. I just want to add Leonidas.

I got this commander,he is so lit!!!
Charles has always been underrated, even more so now.
I use him on all 5 accounts, have him maxed on 4 of them. He's the only gold key commander that I'll use universals on. He is important enough to me that I'm sacrificing that efficiency to get him up to speed faster.

Martel is great for rally attacks and is great with Æthelflæd because of how she is also beneficial in rally attacks. Martel is my favorite in protecting my city and defeating enemies.

I think Martel is S tier in open field because he can tank and help boost the nuking damage of his secondary commander. He is also still one of the top garrison commanders. Technically the only gold key commander worth spending universal sculptures.
Well, being 3 months in and after receiving Charles with a gold key : NOT A SINGLE SCULPTURE CAME OUT OF THE GOLD KEYS... Watching your inventory just makes me want to quit this game
You really need to be patient and active tho. Believe me. Find and very active alliance and go step by step, if you are investing you better do it wisely.
I'm not sure what level of spending you do, if any. Chisgule has admitted to spending thousands of dollars on the gameb and has played for over 600 days. There's a HUGE difference between where he's at vs MOST players.
Almost 400 days in, finally cracked and put 15 universals into him to make him 5511. Gold key drops are abysmal.

Great vid Chis (and I used to be a hater :P). I don't know if it's just me but some more content on equipment for f2p, low & mid-spenders would be useful. First, I see many not caring enough about it. Many haven't thought about where to get material. How many commanders should one focus on for equipment? Which epic equipment matters most? Should one work on Silent Trial or Delane? From what point (of spending) should you actually even care about crafting Scola's coin? (I see f2p crafting nothing and working on Scola's for ever). Endless content :D
Another comment is that getting Martel from gold keys alone if you're not spending might still take you 2 years. So there's a counter to the argument against not using universals. Thanks to gold keys, Martel is among the only commanders f2p can aim to max "quickly".

about martel cesar pairing ...damage boost of martel only will work and even after the 4 turns of francia shield the boost bonus will not work ( during martel active skill cycle and after it's end )
You get only 20 attack and defense from cesar active skill
and about the shield like you said it will last only 2 turns and damage boost for 4 turns

Hey Chisgule ! I was hoping you could point me in the right direction . The very first wheel for YSG just came out and I’m gonna go all in on the wheel , I have about 160 Gold universal sculps, would you recommend putting everything into YSG along with the wheel and get him as powerful I can ? Or get my Charles to 5511 then throw the rest of my sculps into YSG? Btw my YSG is 5000 and my Charles is 5100

Yes. One of each.
Martel , Guan, Alex all gave infantry speed, but when it comes down to different roles, I’d give up his speed build on right side of infantry tree to trade them in for heavier tankier build on garrison and defense. He’s not a chaser, just like ancient times infantry, he waits others to charge in and swing his mighty hammer 🔨 to consume them! Lol 😝 in 1113, we had a player paired maxed Mattel with mm2 in sunset, I call this pair bunker hill, as chisgul hit the point: his 30% attack rate with mm2 20% attack can cause sustain aoe! Can’t wait until chisgul talk about Constantine! 🔥🔥🚀🪐
Hey Chisgule. So I understand your point about universals and not dumping them on him but I have two things to say: 1) why should I wait YEARS for a chance to get him on gold keys before using him 2) those extra heads you get after expertising him are not useless.. You can use them as gold stars to upgrade other commanders AND you guy exchange them pre-kvk
Well I followed the same logic on gold key commanders and not using universals and I will say that from gold chests alone...it would be prolly 3 or 4 years..maybe.
So i dont see harm if they are a top tier S+ commander but 5/5/1/1 and then focus YSG/Alex coming down the road for newer players. You dont wanna dump all universals into him because you will slowly get some from chests as well.
His point about wasted heads is spot on though. Using golden heads for stars or prekvk is utter crap value. Sure its SOMETHING but if you could have back 500 universal heads and use those 500 martel heads instead...would you?
What's the greater value? Yes they work for stars/prekvk but with consideration to the value of a single universal head...that is a garbage return on those. He is not wrong...

For rallying cites mehmed is god in early middle and late game
I would say F2P in a new kingdom likely shouldn’t be rallying player cities. Mehmed is certainly the best early game legendary, although caesar and Freddy are often used. I would argue that city rally commanders should not be a high priority for F2P in the early game

For me, I encourage ppl to put some gold head on Charles. bring him to 5511 and let gold keys do the rest. So you can use him since Kvk1. Otherwise, you will have to wait around 200-300 days before you can use him.
I tend to agree with you, but I can't decide whether to use the universals for Charles 5511 or Richard 5511. I'm leaning toward Charles.

just a word of caution specifically to commanders with shield effects, weve already started to see them insert effects into arms training that pierce/ignore shields... do keep that in mind that much like the heal effects being targeted by a handful of popular commanders... popular effects like this may also suffer soon from a similar scrutiny although it may only be from 1 commander potentially within the next 3-4 months gauging when the next set of commanders may be revealed, as well as potentially commanders that strip buffs... if they can put it in a scenario, event effect... it can very easily be seen in a commander.
Which so much builds with so many vommanders how do you choose who your going to use for what like to make Charles open field vs garrison ik stuff like what you have and don't have would take part but let's say your looking to eventually have everyone

Quick Question, I tried to attack barbs with my Seondeok and it only allows her with my troops. But when I put my Lohar it allows me to add another commander. Can someone explain this??

When you pair martel with Alex then whose shield will go off ? and will the damage increase from martel will still activate because it says when the shield is active ?
The primary commander's shield go first and then the secondary commander's shield
There is a 2 second delay between active skills. The damage bonus from Charles lasts for 4 seconds even if his shield is destroyed.
I was in contact with vip support and martels first skill DOES NOT apply to skill damage
