1v1s are definitely more enjoyable to watch due to the raw nature of skill on dispaly. I think the reason you saw 2s get good views is because views in general are up and you got a bunch of hw2 groups to sign up for the amateur tourney, which = new viewers.
And friends of the amateur players were all watching too. I know pretty much my whole group of hw2 guys was watching because 4 of us were playing
