What I love about these videos is that the message you preach does not only apply to magic, but whatever career you choose. Thank you for helping me, I really appreciate these videos.
Man like I am glad you see deep into my vision. Cheers🙏🏽
Michael ! Not only are you a mentor of magic, you are a mentor of human kindness. God bless !
Incredible! Really strong. I appreciate your honesty in your thoughts about professionalism and your career.
I always enjoy your inspirational message.
The magic was simply beautiful on camera & even though I wasn’t there in person with you I felt the magic come through my screen. Gorgeous! I so value the fact that you are constantly reading and studying your craft & encouraging others to do the same. If you are constantly studying & learning just imagine what beautiful ideas you can continue to create because your mind is being challenged. I don’t know what a Gooner is (lol) but I sure do know what beautiful magic looks like! Thanks for the beautiful magic.
Serenia Taylor thank you Serenia...
Your magic, as usual, is always exquisite. You have the greatest ability to make whoever watches your videos to feel like he's sitting right there with you in your company.
Levels to everything. Jeeeeeeeez I'm always learning with you. I enjoy watching sleight of hand so much, but it's the stories and your dictation talk that I really like my friend. Bless!
Always a pleasure watching a real pro at work
Sir, I watch your videos with a great pleasure. English is not my first language, but the way you speak and pronounce words make my study process much easier. This is a great added bonus to your stories about self discovery and history of magic!
Adamerro thank you sir. Good luck to you on yours magic.👍🏽
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
That was beautiful. The mind blowing trick is just extra. Favorite video thus far. We never stop learning.
Hi Mike im not a professional magician, it has always been a hobby. When i did table hopping performances i had around 25 to 30 different either tricks or routines in my little case. Sponge balls, rope, coins, Thumb tip etc. That way, when i moved to the next table i could show a different performance to the previous one. I agree with you, you cant just do 6 tricks. Some tricks need a table, and some don't, especially when you have to walk around. You need change things to match the situation. Last night at a family gathering, all i had was a deck and card to wallet. I was really asked there to do a mentoring session for the friends son as he has shown an intrest in magic. Just teaching him how to hold and sqaure up the deck, then how to shuffle was i felt really rewarding. I enjoyed it more than the performing. Thanks Mike.👍
It a pleasure to see how your mind works. Thanks.
Always a joy to listen to.
Again, I'm not a magician. Never intended to be as a kid in the 80s just had an on/off interest in magic. Most times I admit, it was just wanting to know how something was done. Attempting basics for family I struggled with, especially "Do it again. Let me touch the prop" which I knew would give it away. I mostly kept to myself as a kid but in the back of my mind, the idea of magic was an escape. I may have had the odd book from the library back then, but struggled to understand them. But, again, the thought of magic, the feeling it would give watching magicians was always nice. A place to disappear into, a place that was nice, a place that was magical.
Why am I saying this? Because I'm not a professional BUT If anyone is learning it, please listen to Michael. The way Michael talks about magic gives me that warm feeling back again. I never want to become a professional, I never really practice, but just listening to him talk about the old masters, the history of magic, its the way I've always thought magicians were.
Its just.....magical.
Just re watched this video Michael and what an excellent one it is! I love your videos and the beauty is, I can re watch them as many times as I like and each time I extract new insight - this is the mark of a truly thought provoking and entertaining video, well done Michael!
I keep coming back to your videos. Whenever you make it back to the States, I’d love to witness your show
Great stuff Michael, I too got my copy from Davenports back in about 1998 at the age of 17 along with The Compete works of Derek Dingle. Two books that I still read and learn from today. With all the FB/Social media magic going on these days it is so soooo refreshing to hear your wise and wonderful guidance
Another wonderful video 🙌😎.. never knew you were a Arsenal fan, I’m a Spurs fan. Thank you again for sharing your wisdom. I could listen allll day long 👍. Love it
Such an inspiration, hope to meet you one day!!! Cheers!!!👍
Your words, Mr. Vincent couldn't be more true of the book, "Cardshark". That book is nothing short of Outstanding! It is also one of my personal favorites. And Jason Ladanye's, "Game Changer" is also in the catagory of incredible!
A master at work 💯💯💯
wonderfull performance,,, so clean,
That trick was awesome !
Fantastic video, Mike with a interesting message. If we want to evolve in magic we should always remain a student of the craft. And that's one of the things I like in your attitude towards magic, you remain a student of the craft despite the years you are into magic but you also Inspire others (me, for example) to remain students of magic. Thanks for that! 🙏
such a great soul, and a master of your craft!
Zanzatbc thank you sir. Just a passionate and perpetual student.🙏🏽
The man, the myth, the legend.
So inspirational
Hello Michael,
I hope you and your mom are well.
This is another compelling conversation for working magicians. Specifically, venue. This definitely resonates with me. It reminded me of an essay in one the "Workers" books by Michael Close regarding venues a magician can perform in and the realization that are few and far between.
-I think that this may well be the reason one man shows have become more popular among magicians. (There are no venues for performing Vernon's cups and balls so I'll make one).
-I tend to think of the venue as the frame around the performance.
-I don't think it is a new problem though and not relegated to the performance of magic alone.
- Houdin and Hofinszer both had salons where they performed under conditions of their own choosing.
-I think it may be a good problem. I feel it will force magicians to seek more traditional theatrical venues to perform in and by extension compel them to utilize more traditional theatrical components to elevate their performances-Scripting, lighting, music, etc.
-Steven Cohen in an interview I recently listened to said that when he was in Japan he performed at bars and clubs in the Ginza district as well as at the Park Hyatt, Tokyo. The reactions he received for his magic when he was performing at the Park Hyatt Tokyo were entirely different in a very positive way even though he was performing the same material in both venues.
P.S. Favorite trick from "Cardshark" is "Time and Again"
Pete Mills I totally agree with your point of view Peter. My last show ever was before Christmas 2019. I presented my full one man show at The Mandarin Hotel Knightsbridge for 30 people. I couldn’t have wished for a better setting and context for my self expression. This is who I am. Now you understand why I had the professional context when I turned professional in 1991. When I hit my 50th Birthday, I said good by to professional magic and when back to being a dedicated student. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
Michael Vincent I don’t remember London well but I think Harrod’s is in Knightsbridge. A bit more upmarket area of London.
Pete Mills it certainly is
That ending making the queens turn to aces! Have no idea how u did that
I now have The Magic Book by Harry Lorayne. It amazes me more that you learnt all these tricks from reading. I'm not a practicing magician, just always had a small interest. Got the book from World of Books. But it amazes me how complicated it can get. Even Harry says some of the routines, even the controlled shuffles are easy to do but difficult to explain.
Steven Whiting I will be doing a video on Harry this week.
A class act (love the shirt)
Good afternoon my friend!
What an amazing video and conversation! Wow,where do I start?...
I am also a fan and follower of Bruce Lee. At one time I came across a lesson he presented on mastery that really made my mind melt and my heart sing.
Bruce presented to become a master is to not be a master. To say one is a master is saying this is an end. There is no more to know or accomplish or strive for.
Even at his level he considered himself a student.
Also to keep yourself open and to allow more to come in and change this not only gives us a deeper connection to our lives and passions it also gives us a deeper connection to the world around us,the universe and even God.
Eternity has no end so neither should our studies or our climb to the next levels.
I was fortunate to come across Michael and his work at the time I began my devotional path as a student of magic.
I started from scratch. I set out on a path seeking out the old books and great teachers.
I could go on for days.. Dai Vernon,Ed Marlo ,Michael Ammar,Daryl,Bill Malone...my list is endless.
I ordered every book Michael mentions and now we may need a new house or build a room just for my book library...
And before I go on too long I have to talk about Jason.
I got turned on to Jason by Michael talking about him and I just fell in love with him so fast. My god, beautiful work guys...And to top it off Jason is so freakin funny. He will make a post or comment and I’ll laugh about it for days. His dvd or download is also incredible. It was one my top picks this year and I can not recommend it enough.
And he is also a killer musician and yes all the ladies and I think most men love him.
My love to you and your mother
Your friend and forever student
Ricky Blevins
Rick Blevins thanks Rick. Just to be clear, it’s free to sign up, my programmes cost, this is my livelihood. Great post thanks for sharing. You are right about Jason, he is 007 in my book, I am happy to be 006 or 8 when he’s in town.
Michael Vincent He would make a good Bond now you mention it...👍❤️
Michael Vincent Apologies my friend. I corrected my post about the Academy.❤️
You're right, I am indeed inspired...
Inspired to never take my eyes off the cards!!! Michael, I'm sure there's a few of your followers on here that love playing with cards constantly, I include myself in that, have you given any thought to possibly doing a signed deck giveaway?? This would be great! 👍🏻
Michael, I absolutely LOVE that you addressed something we don’t often speak of: the gap between formal, close up material and the environment of the working professional. And I appreciate your candor on how that wasn’t for you.
The choice to cease being a working professional for the sake of the art is noble indeed.
What was your profession before your stint as a professional magician?
Christopher Moro I was a Postman....now, a coach and entrepreneur
Michael Vincent what a great evolution of careers!
Christopher Moro it’s fascinating what life throws at you. In my case Magic was my hobby, became my profession, opened doors to other interest. I am also a photojournalist/social commentator with a camera. Journalism was my primary interest. Wheel of life comes full circle. www.fujiwarrior.com
Michael Vincent WOW! What a portfolio of creative work!
Christopher Moro thank you sir. I loved your lockdown matrix good work
Awesome trick... Greetings from a Manchester United fan ;-)
MCMLXXXVII MCMXCVI F.A Cup Magic soon come👊🏾
@@MichaelVincentMagic Well, Arsenal is better than Chelsea, I give you that 😏 All the best to you, Sir!
Didn't get to see this earlier in the week, but it was worth the wait! Thanks, Michael...
If you've retired does that mean you don't do the sets at the Magic Castle anymore? Looking back at those, they always looked good.
Steven Whiting no more Steven. I am back in student mode now. I look after my mother and study for my pleasure not😢
Camera or in person, good magic is always enjoyable. But I have a question, in this stay at home period, what changes you have made to your CARD routines if any.
My friend, that’s a good question, let me think about this as I sense this could be a great video.
You are funny. You need only 3 tricks.🎭
Can you demonstrate some card mentalism tricks like max mevan or something based on mentalism on cards
Khushin Makim I can and do but I need and audience. I will not do any kind of virtual performance during this lockdown.
ALWAYS ON THE MONEY ....MY FRIEND AND YOURS KEVIN REAY HAD THE SAME LOVE 4 MAGIC ....BUT A DISLIKE 4 SOME OF ITS EMPLOYMENY ENVIRONMENTS....HEALTH + PEACE 2ALL
Maestro Vincent:
Is that an impromptu piece or you need to stack the deck beforehand?? It was impressive impressive.
Dreams Dreams 100% IMPROMPTU. I can present this with your shuffled deck in use.
@@MichaelVincentMagic
I will try to get Jason's book. I hope it is not out of stock.
Dreams Dreams send him a message. I am
Sure it’s still available you will love it.
@@MichaelVincentMagic
Maestro Vincent:
In your opinion, what is the most powerful-impressive piece you can perform with a shuffled deck??
