    This Book is simply required study. It’s like studying Dickens or Shakespeare.
    It represents a masterclass from a grand master of magic.
    I hope this video inspires you to read this with fresh eyes and mind.

    Michael, with every interaction I have with someone I strive to share some of my knowledge and experience. I also leave them with something positive so that they walk away feeling uplifted about themselves. You do the exact same thing. After watching and listening to you I always see the beauty and wonder of this magical world that we live in. Cheers from St Louis USA.

    Thanks so much, Michael!! At least once a year, I read Chapter Two: The Vernon Touch. There are so many valuable lessons just in the one chapter, that it bears repetitive reading. Bill Simon sets the stage for that chapter, and I would also encourage others to read Simon's Observations chapter (introduction) in his fine book, Effective Card Magic. It too, shares many valuable insights and practical information that can be applied to ones magic. I'm loving this series of videos. Props to you, kind sir!!!! And cheers to us 57 year olds!!!! Always the student!!!! Rock on brother!!!

      Cheers Glen; you mentioned Bill Simon. Isn’t his book Effective Card Magic FANTASTIC? That opening chapter is one of the best and most critical piece of reading I have ever come across in all my years of study. This book is on my list to talk about. Cheers Glen is 57 years are rocking.

      @@MichaelVincentMagic I was also going to mention one of my other all-time favorite magic book introductions/preface/opening chapter, which is in Michael Skinner's "Classic Sampler". Skinner's preface is pure gold. William Murray's Profile of Skinner's work is my single favorite intro to a magic book, hands down. His description of taking friends to see Skinner perform at Elaines in Vegas, and their reaction to his work, is just priceless. I read that at least a couple times per year. Not to mention the great material beyond the intro. Cheers, Michael!!

    People will say "What's the point in this, you can look most of the info on magic on the Internet". I'd say "That's not the point. If you grew up in a world with no Internet you'd understand the power of a book. They are still valid today and its just the 'magic' of them. I see a shelf of magic books and get a 'magical' feeling. Its like being in a movie, a shelf full of secrets, a wizards shelf"

      @MichaelVincentMagic  Před 3 lety +3

      Growing up in a world where reading books was a high commodity gave as another world to explore. The internet is a works too, the difference is once you go down this particular road, the trail behind disappears. Once in no way out. With a book, the trail I started on reveals miles stones look look back on to see how far I have come.

    I always LOVE your videos. They are somehow kind of addicting! I have a question for you: do you distinguish between "magic" and "skill"? A routine like this, and many others like this, are presented as "demonstrations of skill". They are very enjoyable to watch when done well. But there is another category of performance in which the performer presents something as "magic".... the only way to really explain it is as if something "really magical" happened. For me, these are two entirely different kinds of experiences, both as a performer and as an observer. I have been thinking about this a lot after investigating a lot of Eugene Burger's thinking on magic. His goal is the the audience member perceive something as entirely magical and doesn't notice there is "slight of hand" involved. What are your thoughts on this? I would love to see an in depth video from you on this :)

    Hey Michael Loving this series, your little reading of Vernon's thoughts on practice caused a question to pop into my head. Obviously you take the study of magic very seriously and it pays off dividends but are there any moves you practice and do for yourself just because it's fun to do?, something that's sort of impractical and wouldn't really work for an audience for instance, I know in my case it's a few coin vanishes that look really good in a mirror or on camera but not so much live but I just find the mechanics of them so tactilely pleasing that I do them all the time.

    • @MichaelVincentMagic

      To be honest, I don’t waste time with that idea. Why waste energy like this when I can use that energy to create a beautiful piece of magic. My time is compromised now because I look after my mother. So I focus on results nothing else.

(also these books, but no sleight of hand, the mark wilson course in magic, the tarbell lessons in magic.) I would like to here from you, because from your advise I can start my way..

Read these books, think, study abs practice like there is no tomorrow. Spend this year on these two books. This will give you a good foundation for the rest of your books.
