The tank extender is sooo good. I just put one on my bike that looks just like yours. Can’t wait to feel the the extra control from the tank ext on the track. Probably the best upgrade to the bike hands down. I do t think the pops on decel can be totally eliminated with out cutting the fuel.
Adeysworld that’s a good point. On my 09 I only have mode settings no TC, or wheelie. Getting too happy in turns really wakes me up cool vid tho, hopefully see you up there some time!

I was planning to buy an old stock (but brandnew) Yamaha R1 2014 but they said that the Yamaha R1 2016 up is for tall riders? It has better performance but I kinda like the raven style cowling. Somehow I go for looks, anyways it is still an R1 and I couldn't ride that on it's limits coz I'm no motogp rider. I'm caught in deciding wether to buy the new version or the old version? What do you think? Which do you prefer?

@@sponsurd I'm 6'3". The Graves rear sets that I had on this bike were set in too high a position and are not adjustable. So I suffered unitl I changed them

Great job on the bike, As i understand u say u have better wider handlebar position with elbows on top of knees for the twisties with the Graves clip-on (?) , can u share details of the specific (graves) model u used and what settings u did to make it position that way Thanks

Why not go with a full exhaust? Is it a California emissions thing? I know the R1 comes with titanium headers stock but I would figure losing the cat would lighten it up a bit.
808 Racing In the video I said “exhaust and mid pipe”, so I have no cat on the bike now. And like this guy said, stock R1 headers are titanium and good to go from factory. The edge you get from full system riding on the street is almost non existent.

The Furious Walls I have the block off plates installed. The ecu wasn’t tuned yet because the bike didn’t have the miles yet. Since the tune, there’s less popping now.
Actually (I'm an aerospace propulsion systems engineer - I have a 2016 R1) you're better off going to the FT ECU active tune early on, before you get too many miles on the engine... about 300 is a good start. Why you ask... different fuel map characteristics change the operating temperature profiles which change running clearances. You're better off breaking in the engine with the revised thermal characteristics. The stock O2 sensors are not even close to the capability of the Bosch Wide Band. The stock R1 fuel map is a joke. There is an Akro map but you really need to dump the Cat. I'm using the Graves cat eliminator with the graves fuel map and active tune. It works well. Graves made a fuel map for the their cat eliminator system... which is why I chose to try it (don't need dyno time). The active tune will use the fuel map as a nominal solution, the active tune will adjust the nominal up and down based on conditions.
Johnny Chimpo Yah I was at Buttonwillow two weeks ago. Couldn’t ride well because of the super high rearsets. Prob do Chuckwalla next in January. Holler if we cross paths again.

Diggs & Ghost Stock settings. All I do is turn off wheelie control.✊🏽

808 Racing no need for the full trust the headers that come on the 15 and up r1 are perfect from factory

Is all that decel pop normal or do you need a rejet with the Akra?
hans I tuned the ecu after this video once I had enough miles to do so. And since the popping has decreased drastically.
