      I'm having some issues with mine, imma test the ebp sensor tomorrow...I have a 03 f250 6.0...It's doing some erratic surging, already put in a new icp senor and pigtail. My instrument cluster is not working properly. I have read that when they fixed their cluster everything went back to normal...Problem seems like electrical cuz it's not constant. It does it every now and then.

      @paulsperformance  Před 9 měsíci

      @@nelmor29 the instrument clusters on these trucks do fail quite often and they willl cause funky events to happen. I keep a test cluster in my shop as I’ve seen a few. The ones I’ve had caused interior issues though. Guess the age of these trucks is catching up with the modules now.

      Thanks and I did touch base on the egr valve. Checking to make sure it’s not stuck open with heavy soot buildup or just faulty and not springing the valve back closed.

    I’m about to try this on my truck. I put in a new EBP and when I started it I got this code. Most likely that sensor was bad?

    Is it possible for one or both of the large o-rings to go bad and leak boost and exhaust without throwing any codes ?

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 6 měsíci

      Which orings are you referring to?

    • @larryhurley2314
      @larryhurley2314 Před 6 měsíci

      @@paulsperformance mostly the one big one on the cast iron piece. Have soot on the hood directly above the turbo. But I haven't had the chance to actually get a good look at everything. Just a quick glance.

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 6 měsíci

      @@larryhurley2314 the cast iron side of the turbo does not have an oring. Whatever is leaking on exhaust side will be evident and have soot buildup around it. I would doubt it’s the turbo itself unless the clamp has failed or someone has taken it apart before. I would check the firewall area for soot because the y pipe is very common leak. At the bellows or even at the turbo connection.

      @@paulsperformance thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I will look at that. Prior owner had new seals and etc put in mid last year right before I bought it. Been a great truck except for this darn leak. Thank you again.

    My 06 has an under boost code it doesn’t whistle at idle but whistle when I accelerate and my rpms get past like 1500. Kinda breaks up a little on the initial drive then it clears up for the most part. Do you think I need to clean my turbo the veins and ring? Truck doesn’t get drove much it’s got 16300 miles

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It’s possible they are getting stuck. I see them stuck aloe with trucks that sit a lot as moisture settles in the turbo and causes the veins to rust and get sticky.

      Did you ever figure out this problem? Mines is doing the same thing.

  • @BenjaminHansen
    @BenjaminHansen Před 6 měsíci

    Do you ever pressurize the system at the boos intake and check for leaks?

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah sometimes I’ll use a smoke machine to find a leak if I can’t find it visually. Usually there is soot buildup around every leak though but I have had some that were tricky to find.

    • @BenjaminHansen
      @BenjaminHansen Před 6 měsíci

      @@paulsperformance I have a smoke machine and currently getting ready to pull my turbo. Where would I connect my smoke machine? Note- when I tried the pressure test and soapy water, it would not pressurize over 6psi and I kept hearing air leak in the oil filler cap area.

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Depends on which side you’re testing. I have a cap that goes on the front of the turbo and that checks the intake side intercooler,pipes, etc. For the exhaust side I usually take the ebp sensor out and insert smoke in from there. You will have to undo the down pipe and block the opening for the down pipe or else the smoke will just go out the exhaust. Most likely places for leaks are usually the bellow flex pipe on the y pipe assembly for the exhaust side and on the intake side the most common I see it intercooler boots.

    • @BenjaminHansen
      @BenjaminHansen Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@paulsperformance do you know why I cannot hold pressure when I hook up a pressure tester to the face of the turbo? For instance i try to fill it with 10 psi and hold it there, but i constantly need to be pumping air into it just to get it up to 6 psi. I hear air through the oil fill tube.

    • @BenjaminHansen
      @BenjaminHansen Před 6 měsíci

      @@paulsperformance any idea about the air I hear through the oil cap?

    How do you recommend cleaning the turbo vanes

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 9 měsíci

      Needle scaler works nice for getting the rust off. Also can use soft Brillo pad to clean up afterwards.

    • @user-ly7ze7gm7k
      @user-ly7ze7gm7k Před 9 měsíci

      @@paulsperformance might me a long shot but anyway to get them at least somewhat clean without pulling the turbo? Additive maybe

    • @paulsperformance
      @paulsperformance  Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@user-ly7ze7gm7k unfortunately not. You could split the turbo with it still installed though but the turbo isn’t that bad to remove on these but It could be split while still inside the truck which may be easier for you but I can have the whole turbo out in less than 20 minutes but I have done a few. Alternator does not have to come off either. It will come out with everything there. Just a little positioning.
