I would change the business name. Simple option to rid yourself of anything the old owners did to disrupt the brand. Then, approach the situation like a new videographer in town - who happens to have the connections/Rolodex that the old business had to rebuild those connections. Obviously a lot of steps there, but that option would rid your connection of association of anyone who was unreliable/bad at business.
