  • Watch closely, you can see the tree fall on the right side of the screen. You might want to back it up and play it a few times to really get a good look at the tree as it falls. This is Q001 CSX Number One Train.......Filmed on 5/2/17 in Dunkirk NY.

      Stop time depends on many things including total weight of the train and speed. This train is a lighter train with semi truck trailers so it can stop in a shorter distance

    Please mount the camcorder on a tripod to make the video steady.
    Always show a train entering a grade crossing. If there had been a collision, you would have missed it.

    • @robertgift
      @robertgift Před 7 lety +2

      If they can separate the train and unblock the grade crossing, but do not, you fine the railroad if it is a well used crossing. The bigger the impact on the community, the bigger the fine.
      Some railroad employees are lazy and do not care. You make them care with huge fines.

    This happened to me as a conductor. It was at night, raining cats and dogs, wind blowing left to right and we came around a corner doing 50. We didn't see the tree until 2 seconds before we hit it. It covered the whole track and was as tall as we were. We plowed thru it only to hit another locus tree. It didn't throw us into an emergency stop so we continued. We pulled over a few miles later for a passing train so I checked and we had the top of the tree across the front of the train.
