- We are so excited to welcome our 8-week old chicks to our backyard flock. We got three hens: Barred or Plymouth Rock "Roxanne," Silver Laced Wyandotte "Wilma," and a Leghorn "Luanne." Meet them in this video and check out how I set the coop up for their arrival!

I start this video off by going over everything that I put in the coop to get it ready for the chickens! For their food, they are going on a starter/grower mix since they will be exactly 8 weeks old, which is when you can switch from starter to grower food. Generally speaking the higher protein the better but that is more expensive! Then they need the grit to help them digest and a calcium supplement to make firm eggshells. They do not need much of this and will only eat what they need so feel free to put a lot out! Lastly, I am going to add a vitamin supplement to their water for the first two days to ease the transition. I set this all up in the coop and then head out to go pick them up! We ended up with three hens: Barred or Plymouth Rock "Roxanne," Silver Laced Wyandotte "Wilma," and a Leghorn "Luanne." They are all 8 weeks old, subscribe to our channel to watch them grow up!

I luv chickens
My cousin in Indiana built a chicken coop for her daughters. Great pet/learning experience for kids
Definitely! It is funny how they warm up to people and become like pets!
The 🐓🐓🐓’s are so cute!!!
Thank you Susan!
Looks LinkedIn your coop needs more ventilation, and I always try to keep minimum food in the coop
check out my coop updates video!
Them some nice birds
Thank you bubba
I built a chicken coop when I was little with my dad...such a cute video! 😀
Thank you :) we loved putting it together!
We another video about that if you are interested!
Libby Flanagan definitely watching it!!
Omg they are all so cute!! So interesting, thanks for sharing! Keep us updated on them ☺️
I will!!
New chickens!!! So exciting! I’m still waiting for my city to make owning hens legal (they are drafting an ordinance now! 🎉). So happy for you! Thanks for sharing your chicken journey :) So excited to watch your ownership journey!
Ah thank you! I hope that it goes through soon!
@@LibbyFlanagan Me too! its been long awaited for sure!
Great video! Such cute chickees! lol my wife's name is Roxanne.
Well Roxanne is my favorite :) she is the only one who lets my hold her!
Very cool! Can’t wait for organic eggs. :0)
Me neither! Learning patience on the farm :)
Hey Libby, just found your channel and subscribed! Excited to follow along!
Ah awesome! I love your channel! So happy to have connected!
This is so neat! They are different! I mean hehe they look different than the ones I’ve seen, we used to have one chicken, which we raised since it was a chick one ended up bad and the other we took her to a farm because she was poking my dogs nose 😓
I am a little worried about that because our dog keeps sticking her nose in there but I think she will learn quickly
Awee love this! I want to raise chickens! New sub!
Thank you!! I have been looking forward to this for a long time :)
Those 3 are beautiful
How did the chicken's do after those two days of being out there with that feeder?
How much did you pay for feathered out chick's in your area?
25 each, they did great!
@@LibbyFlanagan that's amazing. How long did it take them to get a handle on sticking the head into the feeder?
A couple of weeks
Just had to get big enough to reach
I like Roxanne! When will they start laying eggs?
I love her too! Around 4-6 months!
If you have any tips for raising chickens, let us know! Which is your favorite chick?!
I like Roxanne best but that feels like having a favorite kid lol like you’re not really allowed to have a favorite 😂😂😂 They are much bigger than I expected! Is that normal?
The guy said they are 8 weeks but I think they might be a little closer to 9. They grow really fast at first so even one week makes a bug difference. I love Roxanne's look but Luanne is the sweetest :)
@@LibbyFlanagan OK that makes sense. I am learning so much about chicken care through youtube but haven't started learning so much about chicks :) Can't wait to see more of them in future videos!
