  • On this episode, Austin and Jon meet up with Nate from Dirt Lifestyle! Our destination is Snowshoe, West Virginia where we find some VERY wet terrain, dramatic weather and rain on and off what seems like every 10 minutes. We camp by a beautiful lake, take in some epic views, and all around have a great time. Oh yeah, and my Yellow XJ decides it should try to change our course from Overlanding to Rock Crawling...or maybe an all day recovery mission!
    I cannot wait to go back to WV and do some more exploring in the dirt roads and trails of this gorgeous state.

    The only thing better than an XJ ghost riding into a creek ditch is multiple videos with said event documenting it 😂🙌

    Thanks for visiting my state. It’s truly a beautiful place that most of the country doesn’t know about.

    I grew up in the Mon Forest. The Cranberry and Gauley district. It's a little bit Squatchy. I heard one from the inside of my tent back in 2012.0 One grandfather mined and worked on the CCC camp and the other logged it.

    I have to get back into the habit of saying out loud... emergency break, park. First several outings I did that. Gotta get back to that every time I get out of the truck. We'll be doing the Canaan Loop in a few days!

    You guys have some awesome looking country. That's a lot different habitat than we are use to out in Arizona.

      What’s crazy is how much it can change from one mile to the next. Today in Pennsylvania over just 12 miles off road I saw sand, sticky mud, thin mud, thick mud, Sandy mud, multiple types of rock in all sizes and consistencies, stream crossings, dense woods, wide open spaces, heavy underbrush (gives the jeep what we call PA Pinstripes) and of course some wildlife

    All terrain tires are good for highways and gravel roads in my opinion, that said I run Goodyear duratracks at the moment and only complaint I have is the side walls,got to be careful with heavy branches and hopping logs, I just killed my 3rd tire today due to this ( been using this model of tire for 10+ years). Gonna go for something when heavier side walls after these are done

      I’ve gotten good wear out of my BFGs and there’s been very few ways they’ve let me down. They’ve never left me sit from a blow out or otherwise. But I’ve got big gashes in at least 2 sidewalls which is sketchy, and they chunked pretty significantly from the first time I took them off road. They’re about 75% worn down now, and they’re giving me terrible death wobble and a constant shimmy because they just won’t balance anymore. Definitely going with a more aggressive tire next time

    Deforestation is from managed clear cutting. IT's not to put in parking lots or buildings.

    U was in my back yard. Can't really tell from the traveling on the video which trail u was on. Alot of them around here but nothing stood out. But camping on chest mountain did. And Cass railroad and snow shoe mountain. But if u ever come back I can send some maps of great spots of camping to things to see all the way to some of are worst jeep trails that the clubs and locals test the rides out on.

    • @DirtRoadTherapy
      @DirtRoadTherapy  Před rokem +1

      So that I’m not blowing up areas with publicly posted routes, GPS tracks are something I share only with Patreon supporters, and for them it is by request. I do want people to get out and explore these areas, so I will hint that we were around the Cheat Wildlife Management Area when we crossed the old steel bridge
