Other than installing and removing, I don’t find it to be a huge drawback. I’ve done black rock crawling trails with this tent on the roof and it doesn’t make it feel significantly more top heavy. I’m curious what tents you’re comparing it to as competition

Just for the sake of my electric bill I connect it to a WeMo plug and have it programmed to come on about 4 hours before my departure time

@@DirtRoadTherapy thank you. The kat, I had on my truck in North Dakota, back in 2013 lasted 2 years. I plugged it in over night , it was fine, but now I live in southern Michigan. And I have my grandfather 2007 ford explore from Florida. 50,000 miles north of rust. And I know it will need help this winter. Thank you best wishes

Absolutely you’ll be good! The greens there can be challenging because there are much larger rocks than we have on most green trails here, but their trails are wide and you can work your way around most of them. If you don’t have rock sliders, definitely get some before you go unless you don’t care about rocker damage!

@@DirtRoadTherapy I do care about body damage. My 2000 is actually in good shape. Maybe I should not do this trail then. Thanks for your help. What places would you suggest? Rauch Creek?

@@markc6207 rockers are the only body damage you’d really need to be concerned about there. Rausch creek greens generally have much smaller rocks, same with AOAA.

That’s awesome you did Canyon Rim! Canaan is definitely more longer and maybe a bit more difficult that is where we camped the second night. The road across the sky I believe it’s called, is the gravel road through Dolly Sods. I’m sure if you’re familiar with that area, you’ve been on that road maybe just haven’t heard it called that.

You’re right, I never heard it called that. But we have camped at Red Creek Campground on Dolly Sods for years, and love watching sunrises at Bear Rocks. Dolly Sods is our happy place. There are still so many hiking trails up there we have not yet done. We will definitely be back. Thanks for the info on the Canaan Loop Road! Is it suitable for an off road camping trailer?

@laurenhoward8397 I think you’ll be fine with the trailer. Shouldn’t be any need to back up or turn around. There are several creek crossings and some small rocks and ruts but if you made it through Canyon Rim you’re fine!

Thanks you, happy to have you along! I was just wheeling in NC and TN with Nate and the TORQ locker was functioning flawlessly. I rode with him down i40 to do Hurricane Creek. The JT handles perfectly on road, and has no lack of traction in the tough stuff. Definitely recommend it

I appreciate that. I’d love to check it out sometime but I’ve heard it’s not “kid friendly” is that true? I can’t see going back to this place again without my son. We checked out Locust Post Brewery last time which was great

@@DirtRoadTherapy I've lived here in Little Orleans for over twelve years now and Bill's is definitely kid friendly. Heck, our Parish Priest, Father Jack, frequents the place after Mass on Saturdays. Don't know where you got that idea from but it's not true. Heck, my first experience at Bill's was back in 1971 as a Boy Scout hiking the C&O Canal Trail as a teenager.

A stock SUV would be fine! If it’s been wet, avoid the area near Bond’s Landing, there are a number of mandatory stream crossings and that’s where the rutted and muddy areas are. Everything on higher ground with gravel will be perfect fine
