  • Palazzo Cini Gallery presents an exhibition of new works by Adrian Ghenie titled 'The Battle Between Carnival and Feast'. The exhibition will be on view during the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale until 18 November 2019.
'The Battle Between Carnival and Feast' presents recent paintings, a number painted specifically for this exhibition. On one hand they reflect the rich maritime history of the city with its many waterways, and on the other the conflict and turmoil caused by today’s geo-political issues. The theme of water unites these works, which are painted in an aqueous palette of deep-sea greens, vivid blues and shimmering greys.
“Painting is still an extremely vital force, able to express the great complexity of our time, and in Ghenie’s work it is the medium for a powerful synthesis of contemporaneity, history, beauty and the grotesque,” comments Luca Massimo Barbero, Director of the Fondazione Cini Institute of Art History.

J'ai découvert cet artiste par hasard en visitant le Palais Cini à l'occasion de la biennale de Venise. Je trouve son oeuvre fascinante.

@@DCeNu If you think this is art there is something wrong with your brain that makes it incapable of experiencing the awe of looking at true art. For normal people this is not art, but stuff that makes you want to bang your head on a wall, probably one of the reasons this kind of stuff gets promoted. That and money laundering ofc.

"For normal people this is not art." How do you define what "normal people" are? How do you know that for "normal people" that is not art? Do you base the comment only on your experience? If yes, the correct form would be "for me, this is not art".
Your comment proves how utterly ill-prepared you are to speak about (good) art. It is, indeed, the great trap of the 21st century that speaking about any subject is possible at any point, but don't forget that the people listening/reading can hear/see and judge you for your lack of knowledge.
