This is such a great scene because Daniel is able to console his teacher/mentor, and Daniel also gives Miyagi insight into the fact that Miyagi was a good son to his father.

I remember when that scene came on and there was dead silence in the movie theatre. I mean, there was no noise, not a sound. It was as though Pat Morita opened up a very rare part of himself and was sharing Mr. Miyagi's grief with us. 36+ years later and it's still surreal.

I wonder what role Mr Miyagi would have had if Pat Morita was still alive and accepted to be in Cobra Kai. I know this has nothing to do with this scene but I wonder if I’m the only one who has thought of this question. As far as this scene, it’s wonderful how Mr Miyagi is always imposing wisdom to Daniel but you get these little gems where the student also teaches the master. Daniel is very carefully welcoming Mr Miyagi to the father has passed away club but is also blessed to have him as his mentor.

I believe that if Mr. Miyagi was still alive for Cobra Kai, the story of Cobra Kai would have already ended because he would have punished them all by now 😂.

Hmm, I have this on blu-ray and notice the color is different here than on my Laserdisc. Both look good but I prefer the look of the LD which has a more orange sunset.

I feel the karate kid series are like the gospels in the Bible where Miyagi (Jesus) telling and teaching us; Cobra Kai is more Old Testament where- some how- you know the main character- still- is Mr. Miyagi- along with the prophets (Johnny, Chozen, Daniel, etc.) while going against the Devil (Silver)- or the false prophet type (Kreese).
