I work at a mini golf and laser tag place and SO many people come for first dates. Most of the time the guy pays but it's also only $16 for 2 people to do mini golf

Splitting the bill isn't exactly splitting check each outing but for example, one person pays for the first date then the other person pays the second date and so on. Doesn't put the burden all on one in a relationship but mutual investment (emotionally and financially) in building it on a solid foundation.

At 47, I think the best first date is going to a furniture store. Bring drinks, preferably slightly spiked, and wander the store chatting, comparing your furniture styles, but then also act like a completely disagreeing couple whenever approached by sales folks. Obviously if you end up testing mattresses, the date is going well. If you get stuck on end tablea or maybe a floor lamp, it’s either a bad sign or a fetish in common.
If they say no then the rest of the hot air balloon ride will be awkward.
