Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

PLEASE STOP CALLING IT BARN. IT'S A HOME. FAN ALL THE WAY FROM PUERTO RICO
What a unique lovely couple you are..I enjoy your ambition a lot..
Many good wishes and health of course much happiness along with the animal kingdom 🍵✌
Goats should be kept in groups of AT LEAST three.
Looks like a mulberry you used as the anchor
Portugal is so beautiful
“Theo” you have such an amazing outlook on life, it makes me smile so hard to hear you talk about how thankful you are for your life 🥰 x
When Theo gets his bench he's 'The man that stares at goats' ...🐐👍🏻🐐
Hahaha
😆
😆😆😆😆
🤣🤣🤣
He will have to learn goat talk, can't be that difficult, can it ?
The goats are going to get a 'house', and they are going to live in a barn. Oh how tables have turned.... Hahaha!
IKR!? I find the irony in all this very funny. His denial makes him refer to the goat house and not the correct term....BARN!!! lol
Bahahaha!
What a gift today. A video full of scenery, adventure, spring time colors, furry friends, chickens, sunshine, fishing, bike riding all bursting with happiness. Thank you T and B.
@Patti Johnson What a lovely succinct comment. I agree with every word.🌀💫💙
I really enjoyed it also! I love the build but today was a real treat.
This was a nice change of pace, you guys have been working so hard on your new home, it's nice to see you enjoying Portugal.
Beautiful mountain, my mother's name; Estrela. Well timed video, it is Mothers Day in Canada, Toronto. And seeing that carving of the Virgin brings in the blessings, mother Estrela Rest In Peace; 1937-2021. Thanks so much for the blessing.
Mothers day here in New Zealand too.
I see the dates doe your mother. Rest In Peace. I lost my Mum less than a year ago (she was born in 1931). Sending hugs (from Ottawa).
You may need to protect the tree trunks from the goats. Food for thought.
Yes! Exactly my thought. Our goats ate everything they could reach. The bark and lower branches are likely at risk. That said, goats are the best. ❤️
Very true, speaking from experience 😉
you can put tin collars around them it will hopefully stop them climbing them and ultimately eating them. But Im sure there are plenty of people around you with goats that will have all the info you need. :)
Portugal is the only place in Europe I’ve ever been to and it is beautiful. I hope one day soon you can tour the Algarve; it’s stunning. YES please, when lockdown restrictions are lifted and you are ready to do trips here and there PLEASE do some vlogging about Interesting/beautiful/wild Portugal. I would love to see you explore it fully.
I have always wanted to go to Portugal. Would love to see more of it.
I tink your fences may be too low. Goats are excapologists. I think you may be in for fun times chasing them around. Good luck, I hope it all works out, you deserve it. You're both doing a great job.
1.5m high I bought. Hoping that does the trick for pigmy goats
A friend has pygmy goats and they are ingenious at escaping. Will headbut anything towards fence and use it to get over it ie branches, food containers. They sussed out working together as a team/herd how to do this! It will make future vlogs even more interesting! Lovely to see the trips out and to see why you both love Portugal. One question - when you get back on a van road trip are you looking for volunteers to house/animal sit?? Count me in.
The look on Theo's face when he was out fishing looked so peaceful. Goats will be a fun addition. I hope those mountaineers ended up being OK. So thankful for rescue people.
“Savor every moment”. It’s what you do. And it’s why we love going along with you.
The cinematography in this series just gets better and better!
Hi there! I'm Portuguese, I love your videos and the way you say Covilhã 😄 but I have to say, Serra the Estrela is not the biggest Portuguese Mountain. The biggest is Pico, an island in Azores. You should go there because you'll love it for sure!
She did say mainland Portugal....
Actually, Serra da Estrela is the biggest mountain in Portugal, and Pico is the tallest mountain in Portugal, but Estrela is also the tallest land point in mainland Portugal.
I have never been to Portugal and it is on my list of places I would love to visit. Your videos have made me even more determined to go onw day.
Thank you!
a movable electric fence is described at > sheraton park farms < on youtube , so your goats / sheep / chicken/ etc. can work on different Parts of Your land. Or Joe Salatin . Even the home for these animals has some wheels and can be moved around.
Theo you are hilarious and good use of the strapping/tree/off-load! Lovin the progress of the land and your sacred space! Bea, all that sanding and oiling of the chestnut - so beautiful!!! And yeah, goats are coming 😊✨🥰
The professionalism of your vlog is spoiling me for other vloggers. Such a pleasure. Definitely improves my Wednesdays and Sundays. Thank you. Love love the picturesque barn and all the he interesting vegetation. But the real appeal, of course, is in your personalities! Sunny, industrious, funny...the list goes on.
It’s nice to see Theo relaxing and having fun for a change after all that hard work last winter. Enjoy!
You two are such upbeat people. I loved the re cap on your progress over time. You are such hard workers, and your home and property look absolutley beautiful. Enjoy your accents, and laughter. Keep up the good work❣
So having found this great channel a few weeks ago and catching up on previous videos, I’m up to date. Wow what an awesome adventure by you two lovely people. Now 73 and having been in Lockdown for over 15 months I have enjoyed your videos. In my career I worked both on location and in studios with film companies and some great Editors. So I just want to say that you both should be very proud on both Filming and Editing skills.
Looking forward to seeing the fence up and the gates ready for the Goats. 👍 that’s for getting posts off your truck. Your both stars xx
Aw guys this video has made me very happy before work. I'm British born, my other half is Portuguese. We both are living in north of England now, but when we first met we lived in Covilha. It has been so nice to see it again 13 years later. Love the videos!
Keep the good work, drop a message if you guys need anything, like Michelle said, we lived in the area and know it very well! You are doing great, take care!
I love Sundays...and Wednesdays..at least 30 minutes each day to watch you guys!??
I hope the mountain rescue team managed to help/ save whoever was injured. God bless, nobody was hurt badly
Looks like was a 50 year old man who got badly injured after he fells, not sure if he was climbing or not.
Bea, Theo, thank you for another lovely video. You two are the sweetest people on CZcams. You're always cheerful, upbeat and smiling your way through your adventure. I look forward to seeing your Goats. They are fun animals, and I reckon you'll be treating them like pets within the week. They are lovely creatures, very affectionate and responsive. They also have an uncanny knack of getting themselves into trouble. You'll be amazed at how they can do that! One lovely thing about them is they eat almost everything. When I had mine, the only things that would end up in the bin was plastics and tin cans. They love all sorts of vegetables and fruit scraps and they will even eat tea bags! You'll have loads of fun with them. Good luck and keep up the wonderful videos. You two are great!
Fernando is the best representation of the expression "curious cat" 😁, he just has to be in on everything ☺️
Actually, Fernando has the same "spirit" of the people from that region, come to think of it. Since nothing new really happens in small villages, anything or anyone new is always on the "news" the next day ("news" meaning every old lady, and others too, already circulated it around the village ☺️)....
... like the day I accepted a donkey cart ride from the river beach from an old lady who was there washing her laundry in the river, old-times-style 🙂.... the next day the "news" was around, that I had ridden a donkey cart ☺️
@@grandmasstories3418 Haha! Sounds like fun times!
I love your homesteading progress videos, but, this out and about is wonderful too!
Kind of essential to having as little understanding of the environment you are living in. Thanks for anything you film. I enjoy it all.
Theo there is never any reason not to give you and Bee a thumbs up. Nice mixture today.
Theo, you are hilarious. 🤣I loved your opening statement. We need to be thankful for what we have. My husband and I feel the same way. 😊
Blessings, 😊💕🙏🏻🇨🇦
Prayers for the mountaineers🙏
Your property is Coming along beautifully ❤️
Love your choices in music, gives all you do an element of calm. Love what your doing. Stay safe.
Before I get into watching the video, have a happy mother's day! You are a mom for all your animals!
It's good to see you getting a little relaxation time in, Theo, doing some fishing. You two work so hard all the time, I'm glad you have time to do something fun, too!
Unloading a pallet of lime!! Bee😍 is definitely a keeper Theo 👍. Beautiful video guys ❤️
🥰
OMG, I want to move to Portugal tomorrow and become a citizen of that beautiful country💖!
🇵🇹✌
I am looking forward to the goats. They will thrive at your property. Enjoy!
I clicked the thumbs up “for that”. Ingenuity and the best stack of poles ever!
I absolutely LOVE your channel
Thanks for showing us the countryside. Theo's "fishing hole" is beautiful.
Can’t see “lik s’ comments on tv so I’m using my phone to tell you both how much we enjoy your videos. Love your humor and Beas laughter,
And, Theo, your way of working out of hard situations like pulling the logs off th truck! WOW!
Theo, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. LOVED the video and looking forward to more. Both of you have been working so hard I felt good you took a break. Your videos are out of this world!💕💕
Today’s video should be titled “Theo the Magnificent”. Love to see you both so happy!
Whatever you decide with your videos, it's ok, I so much enjoyed this one too!!! You definitely know how to do it!
You are doing such a great job along these difficult times! Thank you so much!❤️
Thanks ❤️🐐
iv been watching you guys for years now and finally I'm 7 weeks away from my van build being complete and starting to travel after nearly 3 years of saving, I cant wait. love watching your videos
I’d already clicked the thumbs up button by the time Theo did the fence poles, but here’s a ⭐️ instead! 🐐🐐🐕🐈⬛🐓. I can’t wait to see the goat house. 🌞😷😎🌸
Be sure to put fencing around the trunks of your cork trees! Goats love to strip the bark off of trees and it will kill your cork trees. You wouldn't want your protected cork trees to die.
Wow really
@@bigmamma6946 🇬🇧 Yep. There are places in UK where goats are used to clear rough, briary and sapling trees.
How to speak Portuguese. Lesson n. 1: How to say Covilhã:
1-cover your nose and say "haaa!"
2- uncover your nose and try to say "haaa!" the same way.
3-Finally, there you have it : Covilh"haaa!"
🤣🇵🇹
🤣🤣🤣🙏
This was so refreshing...not only was it lovely to see you all relaxing ( apart from bea and that exhausted delivery) but it was a little reminder of you traveling in the van! I thought while you were at the lake ..you could bring the van so you could both enjoy a sunset / sunrise ! Oh and can’t wait for the goats complex to start! ❤️ 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
The video does not Begin without Fernando! I love this cat and look forward to his mischief
That carving is so beautiful.
Nice to see you out enjoying life and taking a break from the build 😀
You guys are one of the most positive channels on YT. I have 2/14-year-old twin daughters. I feel like you guys are such a positive role models. Your channel is awesome thanks for all the amazing content a new subscriber
Yes please, create more videos showing you and Bea exploring Portugal. Maybe even some local overnight or weekend van tours.
I enjoy watching your adventures. I really like, you take time to enjoy the beauty around you
Great video. Love learning about Portugal and seeing some of the sights. Can’t wait till you get your goats. We had chickens last summer and are getting more early June. They have such great personalities and the eggs are a bonus.
My typical Sunday afternoon, catching up with The Indie Projects!😀
You are so right. Theo it’s so important to have quality time. Feels so much worth while after chilling for a time, hope Bea does the same. X
I came for the cats, now I'm subscribing for the goats!
I came for the house build, and now I’m watching fences 🤐
@@barriegannon3572 I came for the location and now also watching the goats and fences lol
yes! mix in some videos of you two having fun seeing the country... loved it!
Thank you for showing us around your adopted home. We spent almost a year living in Armaçao de Pêra, and doing lots of travelling in our van. I miss it so much, and it was wonderful to see a glimpse of your bit of paradise ❤️
Every Sunday, if eight o'clock and I'm still a long way from home, it means it was a good Sunday!
Great to see Theo having some fun! Can't wait to see the goats!
It was so interesting. . Yes I would love to see more of Portugal . Show us the beauty of Portugal. 😁😂
Living the dream. My favorite peeps to have Sunday morning coffee with. Happy Mother’s Day Bee. 😘😘😘😘
Awe Thank you for doing this videos. It gives me such SAUDADES for my mother land. Yes please do more like that when you can. Theo i am so excited for the GOATS!! Beijinhos!!
Fernando approved your method to get the fence posts off the back of the truck 😄
🤣
Was a nice adventure. Excited about Theo's goats lol they will eat up trees keep. Them from your fruit trees.
Love you both, amazing couple, nothing is too hard to do......ideas are fast and furious....what a lovely surprise to see a couple working together, sharing everything , and so industrious, it’s a pleasure to watch your videos and see the animals. How clever you are!! From UK
Love all of your videos! Love to read the comments too. We are one big happy family of followers of yours. See you next time!!!
OMG..Goats!! I'm in luff! Yes, they DO eat your clothes off the line/floor mats/car parts...but hell, they smile like quokka's while doing so. Very excited to see the goats coming!!! :)
Just some lessons learned from my goats:
1.) They can jump over 4'
2.) They will strip the bottom branches of your trees
3.) They are basically the most adorable animals you can get
However i think with the space you have, probably don't need to worry about fence hopping. Hope they work out well for you guys!
They also climb trees.
@@cepearle7072 yeah, i had heard that, but thank goodness i didn't have to deal with mine doing that haha. They were a handful already
Loving your friendship with Ken from okportugal❤️ glad you have connected and taking a break from all the hard work. Love watching both your channels, watching from South Africa x 🇿🇦
Thanks Tessi 😊❤️👍
Oh wow. Goats. I had baby goats. Wait until you see their new born babies. Yesss
Your property knows you love it. It's glowing. 🌄 Incredible video. Love the fence post removal. Thank you, thank you.
A friend has a great fishing trick for the lake where he fishes. He sinks a plastic bottle filled with pigs liver(?) in a specific place where only he knows. He gets his fish 🐠👍
Yes, it's called chumming the water. You can do the same with a can of dog food with nail holes in it. Throw it in the lake near where you want to fish and come back in a few hours and catch some😊
My dad would do that at camp before we left for the winter. Throw them out in front of our dock.
So beautiful every week. When you started talking about fencing, my first guess was animal rescue. I can picture you welcoming several animals over the years. What a beautiful world you are creating. I feel like you need one of those big signs over the entry to the land and a name for the land. “Something something. Home of the Indie Projects”
I think they need a guardian dog for the chickens and goats haha! A big fluffy one!
Absolutely bloomin brilliant! Back to what we want. Definitely more travelling videos rather than watching you knock 7 bells out of a wall. Love you guys xx
Here comes Inspector Fernando, just making sure none of the fence posts broke. I’m so glad that Ginjey Bear is back in the videos, there for a while I thought something may have happened to her. Theo, now is when you need your holy jeans back on and your knees can get tanned. Your place is really coming along and still can’t wait til you move in your new home. Have you two realized how many times you still refer to it as the barn?!, lol. Love to all of you from Louisiana, USA.
Seeing how good you are with animals I think you should call the goat paddock “The Goat Resort”
🤣🤣🙌
@@theindieprojects also if they eat cork I wonder how hard that will be on their digestive tracts. Not like regular bark! Danger?
But typical ornery goat manner would make it the Goat Retort.
What about the Goatel?
@@merlindeful
Excellent suggestion
👁👁Thank you for letting us see around Portugal a bit💝
Would LOVE to see more👍🏼
👏🏼✌🏽❤🙏
❤️🤗
Hi Guys my name is Angelo im Portugues and I would like to let you know that I love what you doing on your beautiful Land . I Love People like you coming to my Country . You are Amazing People God bless you .
You would make the BEST PARENTS. Make a tree house for them to play in too. I just love you guys. Fun loving people who think of others to help your friends or strangers. YOU'RE great people. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. 🐟 🐟
Aww.....gingy bear (?) still has a limp on his right back leg 😞 Bless his heart ❤️
"Her"
We think she’s fine and it’s just because it’s shaved 🙏
Hey Theo and B as I was watching this video I felt the need to stop it and comment and just say this video is amazing. Your videos have always been good but this blew my mind with the b roll. You just inspired me to take a video course, save up for a van and start making CZcams videos. 😂
That’s so lovely to hear thank you ❤️
yeah, yeah , yeah finally goats - love them. the cutest and most clever guys ever.
I hope that the outcome, on the mountain top, was ok and that the missing were found alive and well.
I LOVED that you shared some of Portugal with us! Obrigada ~ yes, please do more. And want it fun to see Ken in the video too. Good for you for getting out and enjoying yourselves!
goats, eh. wrap those tree trucks with chicken wire.
Yeah, goats eat anything and everything! Can’t wait to see them, goats are so fun to watch ☺️
Agreed, you don't want them to girdle and kill your beautiful cork trees.
cork trees are grade 1 listed in P.
you cannot fell or interfere with them
not an ideal site ?
Happy Mother's Day Bee! Your a mama to all your fur babies. I'm loving how your place is coming together so nicely. You two are hard workers.
Wow, you two are really settling in on the farm life. I love that you have slowed down and are enjoying some personal time to make friends and get out in the community. I see so many You Tubers who are just rushing through to get on to the next project. Life is a journey that is ever evolving and so important to just enjoy the ride. You guys have a great place to just "Be" who you are and we are lucky enough to be able to go along for the ride with you. Of course we would love to see all of the sites of Portugal.
Theo, I use to have friends who had a goat castle is what I called it, for a house. It was round like a silo or grain bin and then they made an external winding ramp that went up to the roof for the goats to climb and play on. Like a big playground and house all in one. Just remember to keep your goat structures away from the fence line because they will use them to jump right over your fence. I agree with the wrapping of the tree trunks, because they will peel that bark right off. Maybe you could build them a tree house...lol. after the amazing chicken coop I'm sure you will come up with your own goat castle. Pets to Gingy and Furnando 🐾. When your done with your house you can start renting out the caravan as a BNB so you can have caretakers to live there to tend the animals when you want to go on your travels. What a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
One more thing Theo... I've had my best luck by using small hooks and worms with a bobber to catch most lake or pond fish. It's more relaxing and if your laws allow you could throw a couple of poles out at once. Have fun, I see some Big fish tales coming soon😄
Can I move into your goat pen? Knowing Theo it will be a palace with its own estate! Seriously though he is so clever and I love his enthusiasm. Love to you all xxxx
Yes, I'd love to see more places in Portugal!
Yayyyy it's indie project time 🙃🙂
❤️
Some really beautiful re-watchable videos. Loving watching your barn conversion, and your adventures, Smashing it!
I'm always in such a nice, calm mood after watching your videos. I've had my eyes on Portugal pre-pandemic. As much as I love watching content of your build and outings with friends, I would also love seeing more content of you guys exploring more of your part of this beautiful country.
I had a friend who got goats for a small farm. Lots of work. She enjoyed them most when they were young. Like someone else said, they were talented escape artists. Got into lots of mischief. She also discovered that despite folklore, goats can't safely eat anything without getting sick.
Sandra Westley from the UK watch Goat Anarchy, they love having places to play, also Weed ‘em and reap they bread lovely goats, but also have loads of climbing areas as goats like to be climbing, if they get board they get into mischief
It's great to see you enjoying yourselves. Lidl is a great shop to get a good choice of foods+. Please update as to what happened at the highest mountain in Portugal, hope all was okay. Enjoyed the video. Take care
Hii! Portuguese here studying in Covilhã! So the mountaineers were a couple, and the man fell 7m down on a difficult location, the rescue team were able to rescue them, and the man is now at the hospital with multiple fractures, the woman is fine.
By all means, show us videos of the areas you travel outside your home. Everything looks beautiful. It also gives you a break from so much work.
goats will eat anything..make sure you cork trees are protected,,was good watching today..you two are living the dream..and you are very thankful for it..it shows
Sometimes, you need to fence the base of your trees off to keep the goats from destroying them. Not always.
Theo, check out the CZcams channel, Weed’em & Reap. It’s a family in Arizona that raise goats and more.
You can gain a lot of ideas and learn much from them. Plus, they are a fun family.
Yes! Weed 'em and Reap are fantastic, also Roots and Refuge are great goaty people too :D
Also Lumnah Acres is a good homestead channel to check out.
Here. Omens Inspector Fernando, just making sure none of the fence posts broke. I’m so glad that Ginjey Bear is back in the videos. Theo, news when you need your holy jeans back on and your knees can get tanned. Your place is really coming along and still can’t wait til you move in your new home. Have you two realized how many times you still refer to it as the barn?! Love to all of you from Louisiana, USA.
