But if you're missing more than 17 games in a season, and still getting paid that salary anyway, u don't deserve super max to begin with
Crazy it’s like we’re tryna figure out a solution for these millionaires
Thank You

The fact the league even had to implement a rule like this says alot about the guys playing today.
It’s about the way the game is played. Not the guys
@@welpbuddy4417 nahh. Def the guys my guy.. the way it’s played has no affect on anything.. mfs don’t play defense anyways.. so guys are basically half ass playing.. a bunch of actively inactives on the court.

McCants has the hardest time, grasping the simplest concepts.
BRUH!!!....FACTS!!!!!
I think he got this concept. I think his point came from "aint no way a player or the player ass. is going to let this slide when it can be proven otherwise." And I agree. I get what Gil and Kenyon were saying but if you CAN play, you are gonna fight to make that happen. Thats what I got from McCants.
Thank you
I think 8 times out of 10 he acts oblivious or argues the opposite side of the debate on purpose for entertainment reasons. Gotta remember, this is a show and still entertainment at the end of the day. They're tryna raise views and fan interaction, like this comment section, to boost popularity. Therefore, they need it to be controversial at times and have someone argue the opposite side or else the show would overall be boring and bland if everyone is just agreeing all the time. It's a strategy that's clearly working
Dude had to have been trolling! 🧌
the NBPA also agreed with the rules so... its also their fault
Well when we have players who can't win awards like McCollum and Grant Williams what do you expect 😂
The NBA 65 game rule is good
Because the lesser players (majority) want more accolades and used the only leverage they have over stars (health)
What's crazy is that all of the money is guaranteed. The players complain about the amount of games, but don't want to take the pay cut if they shrink the season.
@@MrDiMES123 and these accolades will make them get paid more than they will usually be without them. Smart

It’s not the hat. 😂
Its the player's fault.
1) If they never took advantage with load management, we wouldnt be here.
2) The player's association AGREED to these terms.
Do the players really decide on the load management?
@@penkima4923 Is this a serious question? I have a better question.... Have ever called out sick from work when you weren't?
@@machomusprime50 I do know something about that. The NBA teams has to pay fines, if a player is out due to his own announcement, but he's not diagnosed with an injury. Most work places don't have to pay these type of fines. And this certainly is not load management. Embiid does this all the time.
Now it's your turn to answer my question.
I love the rule 65 games is fair. They most likely won’t change the rule because of how the players abused load management.
I agree. Just honor your contract and have some integrity. Do it for the fans
The rule is being abused by owners now. I get the spirit of the rule but its now punishing players for the wrong reasons.
Exactly! The players have themselves to blame. If they weren't abusing the load management, this rule wouldn't exist.
@@GoingMach5 the owners gotta look out for the bottom line because how it was going fans were saying why buy tickets to games. Can’t have that lol. Gotta show the consumer you care about the product being on the floor
Its honestly a pointless rule. Just going back to the 2018-19 season, no single season ever had 10+ of the Top 30 players play less than 65 games. The narrative has really been blown waayyy out of proportion as if most the stars were playing 55 games a year or something.
I think it's wild on one hand that the players don't want to play 82 games but also the owners will keep players from playing 82 games but then ticket prices they keep going up
🚨 You speak the truth sir! 🙏
Keep thinking bro! You almost got the whole game figured out that it might be all a money ploy or something. Even all the way down to the sports betting 😉
The fact that players is saying 65 games is too much and they need to miss more then 17 games is wild lol

ngl, we really can’t imagine running and jumping with the best athletes in the world for +60 games. especially when the pace is so fast now. that has to be lots of wear and tear after some years. especially if they’ve been playing ball since 11-12 years old
That’s not what they are saying. They are calling out the bullshit control that the owners want.
Gil is right.. it's not about the owners always saving money sometimes it's about them not giving certain players so much of it...
but they still gotta give it to someone....its not like mitchell not getting it now saves the nba owners 300M...that is still going to someone...
If there's a 65 game minimum then take off the supermax, and maxes, and just make it about what a team wants to pay someone like baseball does it, and even let players get a 10 yr contract if they so choose to have one.
If i missed as many days in 5 months of work, I'd be fired.
One of the reasons Kareem lasted as long as he did is because he picked his spots. He did not go all out 100% of the time.
Thank you. No one gets it. Players in the 2000s, 90s, 80s, 70s, and so on have played 15 plus years with minimal injuries they played through for these small contracts.
Now we have guys such as Ben Simmons getting max deals while missing a whole season in street clothes. Players back then played their positions. Pg shot minimal shots, rebounds, and blocks. They maximized assist and steals.
Every position was given the task of their name as executed.
Now Players are getting injured faster because a guard is shooting, passing, rebounding, stealing, and blocking for 35 minutes. Players are more athletic and greedy.
Kareem depending on his skill, a lot of these players depend on their athleticism. Some of these guys have to go 100% to stay in the league. These guys better change the way they play
What Gilbert Arenas saying about the team doctors prolonging your recovery to mess with your all-star chances aren't really going to fly in the long term. NBA players talk amongst each other. NBA team organizations that pull dirty stuff like that get known really quick and are usually the one intentionally losing out in the free agency market. Not all nba teams would plan to adopt this dirty method because of how greasy the details are. Even the fans would not want their hometown team to use these type of dirty tactics against their own players. Especially not in the modern era where social media eventually exposes everything.
Fox deserves a supermax
No questions asked
Agreed 26 points 6asts scoring PG
Thank you! Who is Gil trying to fool? 🤦🏾♂️
Fact still remains, SAC would rather they pick 6 others guards for All-NBA. Gil is speaking to the things done behind the scene.
All the players that will make an All NBA will be getting Max money anyway. Also, just because you’re eligible for a Super Max does mean they’ll get it.
Exactly. We’ll see how it plays out. Only the current team can pay a player the super max and most gms and owners will not just give it to a guy that isn’t him.
People act as if these players are machines injury’s will always be apart of the game shìt any sport you’re bound to miss time just don’t miss games like Ben Simmons
The point of the rookie-super max is the team that homegrowns a player can have leverage against competing teams. They can offer more money if the player stays. The rationale that owners want to cheap out and find ways to not pay; then the star athlete can just take it to free agency and let the market decide. It might work on role players where their incentives don't hit, but the flaw with that are the contract incentives themselves.
An nba team can have up to two supermaxes, but they're not obligated to use them.
200 ms instead of 260 million omg how tf are these athletes supposed to feed they family and take care of them dang man we should protest the NBA... this is outrageous

Yt people crying 😢 😭
Great show
The rule needs to be adjusted for injury. That's the only issue I see within the rule. They need to change it to a games missed requirement instead of a games played one. This allows them to go based on the games a player has missed while excluding ones missed due to injury. Someone who can reach Adam Silver needs to get this idea to him ASAP so players don't miss out on awards they deserve. Injuries aren't anyone's fault and they shouldn't be punished for it.
That opens up Pandora’s box because now you have to define what an “injury” is. What’s the difference in a “sprained” ankle and a sprained MCL? Back spasms vs broken nose? It’s a games played and missed requirement; to be eligible play 65 or miss no more than 17.
It’s the way the game is being played. The movements and pace. It’s extremely hard on the body.
@@LewGardnerit literally does not open up a single paradox. Injuries is being hurt to the point where the pain is unbearable to play. Whether if it’s evidently by watching the player or the player saying there selves. Not a single person that works in a hospital talks about.
@@welpbuddy4417that’s my point, who determines pain threshold? Making one player push through a ankle sprain but allowing another player to sit with a shoulder sprain.

Players own fault wanting the season shorter with load management. Now athletes are gonna eventually take their health and time more serious, Gilbert is 100% right the owners still run the league, years before players took advantage but not anymore.
If I wasn’t for rules like this , everybody know these stars wouldn’t even play 40 💀
Niggas would pull beal’s or Zion’s and play 30 games a season

Those bench players would get more games under their belt and may make better role players
@@Frank-hk8zzfans don't pay top dollar to watch role players
what about the contact kickers for getting awards? seems the owners would be on board with it, having all nba plyer, but not having to pay like it
Lets not forget the owners already put them through a full screening before deals. They actually early discovered cancer on one player during the trade for KD to Brooklyn.
This is going to turn in to a layer/agent war.
And yes, you can get add more tests to delay a player ready to play... easily.
I don’t think awards should determine if a player can or cannot sign a supermax.
Every team should have a certain number of supermax available (1 or 2) and they should give it to whoever they want.
I love that about nba players 😂😂 they don’t wanna play and claim hurt like Leonard but when it’s time to sign the contract they be more than ready to play 😂
Why would a small market team want a star player not to get to 65 so they don't have to pay them the super max? That player's gonna walk to a big market team.
McCants really is slow. Bruh really thinks that “I’m ready to play” is going to convince the team to play him if they see saving money by sitting you down. He’s just arguing to arguing. Their bank account will always trump the players.

Gil’s right it’s going to be more strategy behind these contracts and injury stuff and ultimately the owners will cave, as Nick Wildes would say “this is a classic 2, right eventually down the line”
Let’s see how many games these disqualified players actually miss before we say 65 games is too harsh a limit. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that no player at that level is missing it by one game and playing 64 when all is said and done. Donovan and embid are probably going to end up somewhere in the high 50s at most for games played. Maybe they’ll lower the threshold to 60 games which I think is fair leeway to account for an injury to player that has to miss a significant time. Lower games than that probably makes load management excuses more prevalent again
These way better when Kenyon on
3:16 does that force those now super max players to play at a super max level and become cornerstones of franchises?
Wouldn't that mean if the player is actually worth a max, some other team who needs them can offer that? The team would just shoot themselves in the foot at that point. And it would make that player not even want to be on that team after being f***** over like that
That's also one thing I do like about Tom Brady, he would make sure his receivers hit there incentives if they told him.
The best ability is AVAILABILITY
😂 peep how they try and trick us. At 1:48 they name players that replace Mitchell, they say D Fox, Trae Young, Maxey. ALL max worthy players. Then they say the owners will “try” and give the award to players that are already maxed. SMH the best players are max!!!
Is he wearing that hat outside 😂😂😂
Martin and McCants crazy if they don't think this stuff happens in real life... Where u think the movie gets it's from
What other business awards employees for not showing up to work?
the rule was implemente so that players can’t get max dollars for not playing . that being said , if one guy falls out of all nba someone else gets that spot and super max . so even if it helps one owner it hurts the next one .
what rashad said at 6 minute mark is spot on ! you go get another opinion , you rehab , you come back and test . do you know what because all of those things show : WANT TO . as opposed to players wanting to see how long they can ride the line of getting paid and being lazy
Isn’t all nba now any position. So its not two guards, two forwards and a centre anymore. This makes the 65 game rule not so bad. It would be bad if Embiid went down and you had to replace him with another centre that didn’t deserve it, then that centre becomes eligible for a super max but these players can be replaced with the next beat player after then regardless of position.
Well this how i feel..if they want more games to rest..all they need to do is tell the fans..like me..when the stars are not playing..so fans who really can't afford them tickets..who probably saved up for months..for him and his family..Can rest his pockets too. Because we can still support the team at home on the TV. I think that is fair
KMart with the Iceberg joint ✊🏾
It's going to hurt the league in the next round of negotiations with sponsors, tv contracts, and ticket sales. Why pay x amount if elite players may only play 80% (barring real injuries) of regular season games? It's also going to trickle down to players pay, if this continues to happen. They need to figure this out.
Availability has always factored into awards anyway. Especially in regards to something like MVP, it's been an unwritten rule since forever. I believe they actually went with 65 because you can count one hand the guys who've won MVP and played less than 65 games.

What player in the last 20 years has won mvp or 1st team and miss that Many Games, I don't think any. So its almost a pointless argument

To be honest back in the day, the players would play through that 🤷🏽♂️
Players are paid to play. If you're hurt, you still get paid. However, with the new rule, you won't get paid the big bucks. You'll stick get paid, just not the max. I think that's fair. I don't know what they're complaining about. It's just a rule that's urging them to play through. If you're really hurt and you can't play, well, is it fair to be paid partially for being injured? Fans pay to watch. If you not playing, people don't watch, and there goes the revenue that pays their salary. They should get over this issue.
whats stopping players from just asking for guaranteed money in their next contracts and not to care about ‘incentives’
What are you really asking here? NBA contracts are guaranteed for the most part. An incentive is exactly what the word defines; in lay man terms if a player performs better than projected than they’ll receive additional dollars (i.e. a bonus for the 9 to 5ers)
They're super Maks deal isn't for the players it's for small market teens making it easier to retain their star players, so I'm not sure why an owner we deliberately make it harder to retain his own star player if that's the case just trade him or let them walk like Michael Jordan did he own the hornets
The owners are deff gonna get mad soon about it too. I understand the rule and i like it but the owners gonna get tight having to pay someone who really isn’t all nba material the super max. Sooner or later it’s gonna become a bigger issues
Why would they.. either way it go they gone pay someone.. if it was reversed they would still have to pay
They MIGHT drop it down to 60. No less than that.
Why they always act like it’s only 10 players in the nba lmao
Shit is so annoying they act dense on purpose
BUT…if I am healthy and I need to play the last game of the season to be eligible for the Super Max, and you make me sit out: in suing. And I’m pretty sure I’d win (in THAT instance)
Jordan played hurt. KD tried to play even tho he knew his leg hurt that year. Players need play. Keep it 65

Bro playing 65 games is not a lot to ask for. If players have an issue they should address it with the union to strengthen their negotiating power in the future.
The NBA Player's Union is the strongest sports union and one of the strongest in the US, they had to make one concession and suddenly the players are crying like the world is on fire. 😂
"Bro playing 65 games is not a lot to ask for."
Playing 65 games is a lot to ask for. And 65 games would be enough to determine accurate standing for the playoffs. The regular season should be shortened to 65 games from 82 games.
"Supermax eligibility isn’t just determined by end-of-season accolades, though. Beyond winning MVP, DPOY or getting an All-NBA nod, players also have to be with the same teams that drafted them unless they were traded within the first four years of their careers."
Gil not telling the entire story but you shouldn't be surprised.
I am looking at the MVP award for the last 30 years. Not many played less than 65 games. Excluding Malone in 99 and LeBron in 2012 because of Lockouts. Since 94 only Giannis won MVP in 2020 playing 62 games, the next player close to that was Embiid playing 66 last year. So I dont know why the players are so bent on the rule when it has always kinda been this way.
EMBIID also won with just 43 wins ahahhaha
AND he got 45 wins the previous season..
HE wasnt even winning...
All I know is that Kawhi and Anthony Davis are probably gonna play the most games they ever played since this rule went into place. that's not a coincidence. Also, thats good for the game if you ask me.
Anthony Davis already has back to back seasons of 70+ games played in Nola, you should be talking about Zion Williamson instead who’s only been able to complete one full season in his nba career.
@@dxmnnndanny2092 fair enough but Davis never had a 70+ game season in a laker uniform but im pretty sure he will this year. He got 62 games in already. Load management was not introduced by the players. Everyone saw how it worked for San Antonio and Tim Duncan and they wanted to replicate that.
So then we see players like bron, kd, Kawhi, pg and others start following that routine. In your mind you think it’s the player, it’s not. The organization wants to prolong the life of the cash cow so they implement load management on these guys.
Bro no player should be all nba 1st team or mvp candidate playing less than 65 games or 50 something games. Y'all always capping for these modern-day players who are getting paid more and playing less.
