That year CP had in OKC can’t be overlooked. When he got traded there everybody was thinking oh they gotta be tanking. And he took them to the playoffs and not no 8 or 7 seed. They were 5th!
CP3 is an all-time great when it comes to immediately impacting or changing a team's culture, but he's never changed it enough to win a title. He got close, but as per usual, in pivotal games, was nowhere to be found. I secretly believe the man has a switch in his mind being controlled by some master puppeteer. The self-destructive plays he makes in the playoffs in certain pivotal games when his team has played well is absolutely baffling. He will have played great surgeon like basketball all series long, then just look like an empty drone in a big decisive game 5.

That's debatable which is why pierce got finals mvp
@@chrisisslick It's not debatable. Giving the FMVP to Pierce, because he was the high-scorer for the Celtics, was lazy and a mistake. KG was better defensively, and still produced on the offense, and was clutch.

I don't consider that Celtics squad as a title team that had one main single alpha leading them to a title. I look at those 08' Celtics like the 04' Pistons. It was a rare team collaborative championship that was primarily won through high intensity defense.
@@QuestionEverything562well said
@@QuestionEverything562 The Pistons had a single clear best player in Ben Wallace. They were a one-star driven team. The media is allowed to acknowledge this, because Ben won too many defensive player of the year awards, and led the league in wrong categories.
The Celtics were a big 3, not a collaborative team. They had great defense, but their stars were better on the offense than defense.
Glad u said it man KG was the heart and soul of that team and defensive player of the year if I’m not mistaken. He was only 31.
Rashad McCant's take on KG shows his "mental retardation" & jealousy of elite players. That CELTIC squad which included KG were prime & elite. 26-32 is definitely your prime for basketball payers, that’s your phycial peak.
for MOST players. Steph and Lebron are the only two current players I can think of who extended their prime past 32. I personally think Steph now is his best version of himself, almost like 2018 Bron. Seasoned without the drastic drop in physical ability
Does Arenas purposely surround himself with mutes and knuckleheads to make himself sound smarter? What does Rashad McCants add to this show besides making dumb proclamations with zero legitimate reasoning to back himself up? CP3 was my favorite player until he got injured in New Orleans. If you didn't watch CP3 when he was on NO, you just have no idea how good he was. The CP3 we have now is kinda just like a jump shooter or something. The CP3 on NO was like Isiah Thomas on crack, but had the vision of Jason Kidd. He was a transcendent player before the injury.
He used to be one of my favorite players too until I found out about his penchant for hitting players in the nuts.
Clarified why he's one of the least liked players in the league and why Rajon Rondo always gave him a lot of friction.
I disagree with the J Kidd and KG opinion. They were both huge factors on those teams. Neither the Celtics or Mavs would have gotten those rings without them. Gary Payton wasn't a big factor, I agree. GP was almost a distraction because he was arguing with Wade and showing a bit of jealousy toward Wade being the young new team leader. But KG and J Kidd were both major on those teams.

@@YoungRocc I agree GP was well past his prime and they still might have won with someone else, but he gets credit for taking/hitting a huge shot in the finals. J Kidd was well past his prime too but was still great defensibly (personally I wouldn't say key but he played a role and that team was NOT stacked. Jason Terry was the second best player!). KG was close to his prim and easily the second best player on that championship team.
Yes, but Kidd was not the main man on the Mavs. It's like when Oscar won with Kareem's 71' Bucks. Kareem was the main man. KG gets more credit than Kidd, but KG doesn't deserve as much credit as a Jordan in 98' or a Hakeem in 94'. KG wasn't their real main man on offense, but he was their best defensive anchor.
The narrative is not that CP3 chokes in the playoffs. The narrative is that he's gotten injured in pivotal points in multiple playoff runs. And that's not a negative since he can't do anything about his body failing him.
Take better care of himself? He's had out of shape middle aged man shoulders for most of his career.

1. a player's prime can be somewhat subjective based on the player but from what i've seen majority of star players reach their reach their physical primes 26ish to 27ish, and their mental prime 28. they don't really start falling off until at least 32-33 if there were no major injuries.
2. it depends solely on how he performs for that ring. if he is a bench warmer, barely getting playing time, a few assists, a 3 here and there then yea it won't mean much. but if he has some random resurgence of ability and dominates multiple key games throughout the playoff run, hitting big shots, playing in crunch time, making the right plays leading to victories, then you won't be able to deny the positive impact on his legacy.
Cp3 should go into coaching immediately after playing and taking some time to spend with his family. I think it’ll fit him great
Agreed
I think he won’t because he made so much money playing, but he would be a good coach, specially in a generation that has not played him like Brandon Jennings

Honestly Cp3 is still a starting PG on this league. He’s 11th in the league in assist. The warriors had to make that move but let’s see ya say this when he’s starting for the Lakers next season
The reason we chase rings is because it is something tangible that says yes you are the best and no one can take that away.
Yes the ring hit different for MJ than it would for CP3 because one went and took it where another had to chase it.
For the sake of the argument. KG didn’t win a ring with the T Wolves when he was that guy. His ring on the Celtics isn’t the same because of the team up. Still in his prime though.🏀
This is a wild topic coming from Ring-less Players
I agree with Gil that CP3 at this point in his career that winning a chip doesn't do alot and move him to higher tiers than he already is. However, hypothetically if he did win on the Warriors, they are probably gonna run no more than 7 to 8 deep which is no slouch. Plus, considering where the Warriors are, just saying, what if the Warriors make history? What if the Warriors make history do the impossible being a 7th, 8th, or play-in seed and win it all? I think it is safe to say that Curry is the best teammate Chris has teamed with and with the Warriors championship pedigree even though they are aging/regressing as long as Steph is alive and kickin' I can't count them out yet. People also have to understand that every team CP3 has played with has no kind of championship pedigree so who knows. But I do agree that had he won a chip in Phoenix (which he prolly should have if DBook played better and Giannis not turning into Superman) would have more weight.
It’s Like When Tracy Mcgrady On The 2013 Spurs It Wouldn’t Have Meant Anything.

I agree with Gil on this one. Your contribution to the championship will be the deciding factor on significant and where you land in history. CP3 spent the better part of a decade as the NBA’s top PG so him winning a title in year 18 or some shit, averaging four points a game off of someone’s bench does nothing for his legacy.
It's possible as long as he's playing to win or lose depends on if he catches a break...so many random ppl have rings so why can't he end up with one?
They right several NBA players won multiple NBA championships as bench players And u don’t even think about them.
One example is Robert Horry, he won 7 NBA championships with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs.
He was a clutch shooter. But for most of his career. he was coming off the bench, so nobody considers him a “goat.”Despite having all those rings.

The reason why KGs numbers went down was because he teamed up with two other all stars…
He was obviously still within his prime, you could argue maybe the latter end
He was thee GUY that impacted Boston the most that helped them win a title and get there twice. His defense and leadership were instrumental to that squad.
KG won DPOY that year. Boston was 19th in pace. They weren't trying to score a million points.
He’d be a good fit on the heat bench
This man had an opportunity to join Dwade, Lebron, and Bosh but didn't want to change his number because he cared more about his Brand. He cared more about chasing the bag and his brand then getting a ring. coupled with the fact he chokes when he's the focal point. It's not surprising

If chris Paul says he thinks he gonna win a ring...as oppose to he gonna win...it tells that he likes his chances...even with the team he with now...cause lets see what he sees...if he was almost there with houston and got injured...finals maybe...then with suns..made the finals but with a team that wasnt ready...now if g/s should make the playin...and make it to the playoffs..if would be hard not to think a chip is a possibility...just think of all the teams he been in...the team he with now...has a better win ratio in finals...so you can see where he thinks..he can win a chip...and be a huge contributor doing it
