Up until now, as a woman I "identified as a feminist" but I think no more. Louis C.K.'s work has gotten me through some really dark times. He never claimed to be perfect, in fact his comedy was all about trying to accept his imperfections, finding the humor in his own self hatred. Upon reflection on his work, he never hid from his actions, he wove them into the fabric of his material and his show. He apologized and owned up to his actions. I do think these allegations from these individuals are opportunistic and riding the coat tails of the current news cycle. I think people who can read between the lines, discerning people who make up Louis C.K.'s core audience, whatever their gender or political affiliations, will stay with him through this media storm. I know I will. I am a woman, until recently a feminist who has experienced sexual assault in various ways, including from an intimate partner. Louis C.K is a thoughtful person, plainly more than capable of self-reflection and attempting atonement through his commendable body of work. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Louis, love to you and I look forward to your work in the future.

This is the most well-written, mindful, and clear-sighted response from a fan I've so far read. You are very perceptive and prudent; something I wish more of the population had. As another person who's been influenced by his work, I completely agree with everything you said.
It is great that people are having a voice, but it is almost being used irresponsibly right now (ironically). Media is showing far too much power. There's no remedial period given to the accused, which is unfair. This isn't condoning such behavior of course. But when it comes to 'sexual misconduct', a whole slew of variables need to be detailed and considered before branding 'abuser' on someone's forehead and destroying their career in less than 2 days. Particularly if they are mistakes of the past. We need balanced, rational judgment. And I hope it's found soon.

I personally love Louis but just because a person mishandled there power isn’t a shocker. This was over a decade ago and he hasn’t done anything else and it was at the start of his care people do that at the start when they don’t know how to use there power they get drunk of it.

Because sexual abuse to women damages them for life, it's not a temporary thing. So if someone does that and changes it doesn't lessen the damage and it's not like they can take it back. Actually he is taking more accountability about it then you expect from him and that's the messed up part. I don't think you even get his point about it all.

It's the same reason why it's a problem to get into a relationship with or sleep with your boss, it can't be a healthy relationship because one person holds power over the other person.
These women had no idea that if they said no he wasn't going to do what he could to tank their careers, there can't be a real 'yes' in those situations.
You people want to remove all nuance and play dumb though because it's easier to argue, you know what I'm saying is true though. If the CEO of the company you work at asks you politely to perform sexual acts on him and you NEED a job at his company to support your family, there's not a real choice. You could be fired the next day.

What he did was creepy and inappropriate but it wasn't criminal. He behaved badly but there was some complicity with his "victims". There's a vast difference between him and Cosby, Weinstein because he never touched anyone physically. I don't see why he is saying he had "power", that's just kowtowing to the MeToo hysterics. All the allegation were before he got his cable show which was what catapulted his career. Before that he was a moderately successful comedian but not a "superstar" type comedian with money, fame and influence.
Point is, what he did was forgivable, people needed to accept his apology and let him go on with his career. I'm still pissed off at the cable network for cancelling his show based on this stuff, it was a severe over reaction. I could understand if he had done something criminal, but he didn't.

I think like... what was he thinking? Sometimes i wonder what that planet is where (mainly) guys live in where it even crosses their minds to behave that way. I think it's totally just to judge that. Judging it made him and especially others who relate to him question themselves, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be. We care enough about him that we judge him and it echoes. He's not a poor guy, honestly he's not. He got rich doing what he loves. He's just a very regular guy, behaviourally, what happened to be unfortunate in his position. I'm glad he's trying to improve.

Like if a homeless guy on the street asks me for 50$ and I say yes because I’m scared, for no particular reason, that he’s gonna mug me, would I be in the right to tell a police officer I just got mugged? I mean you realize by this logic, zero men are safe, we already have trouble reading women’s emotions aside from sexual advances, you can’t expect us all to become facial expression experts just because some women are scared to say no. And to the people who say he “used his position of power”, does this mean that famous people are just not allowed to have sex with anyone who isn’t famous, because after all they might just be consenting because they feel overpowered🙄.
