Honor Magic 4 Pro Review | One Month Later...

- Reviewing the Honor Magic 4 Pro, their first major 2022 flagship smartphone with the 'Eye of Muse' camera. I've been testing it out as my full time phone for the past week after nearly a month of casual play, so here's my final verdict on the Honor Magic 4 Pro experience.
That enormous camera setup is pretty good for everyday snaps, despite the lack of OIS. From low light photos to zoom pics, you'll get some eye catching and natural looking results. Unfortunately I did also see some laggy performance and serious judders when shooting video with the Magic 4 Pro, which will hopefully be resolved soon.
Gaming is perfectly possible and battery life is dependable too. Honor's Magic UI serves up some slick features, although the lack of customisation compared with rivals can be irksome. Still, no real complaints with the media smarts - the Honor Magic 4 Pro is a great way to take in some Netflix, Disney Plus etc. Or hey, some Tech Spurt, why not.

Bought the x9 5g for my mom last month. Was okay but nothing special for the price camera was slightly below average for the price but with enough light is decent but the 6.8 inch screen was perfect for anyone wanting a big screen(i dont believe that smaller brands like infinix can deliver reliable enough software support but they have decent phones for under rm 1k) Hoping honor software support is decent enough but after the split with huawei magic ui has many bugs comparedto emui. Software wise from experience i would rate the stability Oneui/Emui>Miui/magic> coloros

Came from s22 ultra and I just gave a chance to try honor magic 4 pro. Maybe because the updates but the zoom quality now is so much better than the s22 ultra. I am very surprised.

The bugs with a newly launched phone are 'normal' but the two year update thingy...for a 1k euro phone....that's a deal breaker.
Tbf most people with a phone go on contracts, in UK that's 84 percent, which after 2 years they upgrade anyways, so why have 4 years or 5 when most people are moving torwarss only needing 2
Looks similar to my mate 40 pro. Wonder how' its optics compares to this one. As I'm pretty content with kirin 9000 processor as it plays all high ends smooth without getting heat and great battery life. Only reason for upgrading would be Google apps and camera if it is better
The ultimate version ranks first on dxomark, the pro is at 14 on that list. So its pretty good camera wise

Ich habe es direkt gekauft. War jahrelang Huawei User und hätte auch gerne das P50 gekauft... Aber ohne 5g war es nicht useful für mich!! Ich hab das honor ausgepackt und mit dem device Clone komplett kopiert von meinem Huawei P30 Pro. Nutze es nun 4 Tage seit es endlich ankam und bin shock verliebt! Die camera ist unfassbar gut, selbst meine iPhone 13 pro nutzenden Kollegen, die generell gegen mein Android phone agieren, sind mehr als begeistert. Bin mega happy! Die Funktionen sind sehr an Huawei abgelehnt bzw adaptiert! Also ich habe bemerkt, dass es einiges gibt, das ich intuitiv huawei like nutze, und es ist still the same... Selbst als ich aus meinem P30 pro den sim Halter raus genommen hatte, war es kein Problem den ins honor zu platzieren, versehentlich!!
Der Akku ist völlig ok, wenn ich ein s22 mit 3700mAh vergleiche

Other than the video judder I haven't experience any of the bugs you mention. Had my phone 1 week now. The camera is very good but still a little behind my P40 Pro which I'm having to dump now due to the Google issue. The charging is great and I'm looking forward to the free watch and charging stand I'll recieve in a few weeks.

The huawei phones arguably have the best cameras on a phone I'd keep the phone just for the camera

I just bought a Honor phone as a spare for less than $200. This phone is much thinner than my original iPhone, and it charges fast, doesn't heat up when playing games, and has a lot of memory. Especially the craftsmanship is excellent. And it supports both fingerprint and face unlock. I've been using much more expensive iPhones before, but I feel like the current iPhones are really not as good as they used to be in terms of quality.

Shame that on some of the stuff you are wrong, as this is one of the phones which support 4 key navigation buttons, making it much easier to get to the notification bar. So opposite what you were actualy saying.
I thought Honor models always had Google Services and it was just the parent company's Huawei models that were denied.

Lots of bugs, CZcams lagging, zoomed camera lagging when moving phone, overheating all the time but the worst thing is notification about low battery. When dropped to 20% , every percent drop is annoying sound which You can't switch off.(checked with Honor support team). Don't bother

Freaken awesome phone. Just a heads up Deezer decreases speaker quality I compared it to youtube music and wow difference is night and day and my deezer is running on Hi Fi Quality

Thank u for the review, I have always faced issues with the curved screens in finding a screen guard, so what are u thoughts on that..and .currently using a Huawei p30 which is working fantastic since last 4 yrs and I guess it's the last Huawei with android , so planning to switch to Honor as it has most of the Huawei features like two tap screen shot capture, 4 button navigation which allows u to put down the notification without having to drag ur thumb up like Samsung and other phones , can u check if it has the 4 button navigation like p30 and finally when compared to Samsung what is ur advsie when it comes to battery life etc because my current P30 is million times better then Samsung
Only Tempered Glass that works are those UV Light activated TG. Used one when I was still with Huawei and it works so well.

There’s nothing Magic about this phone!
Pre-ordered it in France, but Honor still didn't send the phones, so we are waiting... As it's not out yet, I guess it's pretty normal to have bugs. Look at the Iphone and Galaxys the first weeks after their releases.
But, I'm more concerned about the update situation. I hope Honor will change that quickly, because no one will pay a 1000eur phone for only 2years update, except Huawei fans like me.
You should known that the battery is trash garbage, and with heavy use the battery will last just 3 hours screen on time!
Big mistake from you who pre-order this overpriced crap phone, which has the shorter battery life ever on flagship phone, you will be disappointed!

Recently purchased this, good phone but the battery and video recording let the phone down. Nearly every video I take freezes, pretty frustrating 🤦♂️

This smartphone is exactly the same price as s22 plus in my country
lovely phone, amazing, yet a disaster. im stuck on April 2022 security patch with flinger print problems accessing apps with it. Even shockingly Huawei released the July 2022 on my p40 Pro and my Mate 40 Pro. Im quite upset with honor..
Any updates to iron out the quirks yet?
@@1991bw yes I have August 2022 security patches and all the issues I was facing including the fingerprint problems have been fixed. There are improvements I've noticed in picture quality and sharpness.

Bought one, but I sent it back to Curry's. The screen frozen twice in a day while on Netflix, the camera was sluggish, it got very hot from the first day, the battery was really bad...sorry to disappoint you, guys. I'll keep my Mate 20 Pro another year.

I thought I would like a more symmetrical camera module design on the rear, but that large orifice makes it seem your holding an unpleasant medical device - especially with a siver model.
A large squarish / rectangularish one would be preferable .. but still .... ya gotta be different to stand out.

Mine disconnects while I am on Fb video chat and if I try to charge it over video call won't charge. Also cannot find how to turn dots in numbers in notifications settings. Also shows me 5G at the signal but in video chat shows me poor signal.

Why my m4p camera keep on "unable to connect camera", and i need to keep on clear cache, restart hp 😭😭. This is sickening. After restart, sometimes can use the camera, sometimes need to restart and restart again. At time i can use the camera, the pict is not that sharp, video also not clear

I would've thought it would take the software stuff and camera optimisations from Huawei. Why is it like this? I even see that on DXO mark my P40 Pro has done better than this. They just brought this phone to my country now and I am not going to upgrade based on all the reviews. I need Google because while I can survive without it most days, I still have to carry my brilliant Mate 20 Pro because Uber isn't available on my P40 Pro. So I need Google back unfortunately. I'll have to wait for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra which apparently will have Leica optics now. I am very sad for Huawei. They were really shaking up the industry. Now Leica has left them as well as Google. 😔
I have the same problem with P40 Pro, but now I use Uber from Uber Eats! There's the option to select Ride instead of food, and hopefully it works. I haven't tried yet.

I updated my Huawei mate 40 pro to the honor magic 4 pro. Its still running Huawei's emui system with a great camrea. Love it
