Every football fan knows there is this type of elegance that you see in certain world class players. I’m not talking about messi or ronaldo machines. I’m talking about ice cold blooded never panic always elegant with every touch of the ball kind of players. The generation that I have seen playing. I can name Riquelme, Bergkamp, Rui Costa , Andrea Pirlo, Pablo Aimar, Iniesta, ZINEDINE ZIDANE. All the players had this elegant way of controlling or moving with the ball. It’s beautiful. It’s disappearing. It’s all speed and power nowadays.
football is nothing without those artists
Ask Iniesta about Michael Laudrup? ;o)
A player with impeccable control and precision with a football will always find a way to overcome speed and power. There might not be any notable players with those qualities right now, but sooner rather than later, I'm sure one will emerge into the limelight.
wtf???
why you have to compare an elegant player like messi to a poacher-goalscorer like CR7??
@@ronny5788 Messi elegant player lol🤣🤣🤣
He just got left leg😆😆😆
The fact that Thomas Müller's favorite player is Riquelme tells a lot. They are both players that don't get the recognition they deserve, yet have been constantly crucial for every single win of their respective team. Their greatest technical characteristics is off the radar, that's why they're so great
Underrated! This new generation of fans won’t understand!!
Roman came within 20minutes of winning a world cup for Argentina and cementing his legacy forever and then the craziest substitution in the history of football happened. Germany vs Argentina in the quarterfinals of the world cup 2006, Argentina were winning 1 nil and this genius was at the heart of every thing good that Argentina did on that day, then Jose Pekerman made the ill-advised, costly and grievous mistake of taking off Roman. Germany equalized and went on to win that game on penalties. Italy became champions eventually but it ought to have been Argentina. Such a shame! Roman Riquelme was and is a true definition of what a playmaker in the game of football is.
I love the intro...Riquelme was something else ! Magical !
The name is Riquelme , Juan Roman Riquelme.
Something about that Irish guy
For a country with so few people, pound for pound Argentina has produced the most what I would call attacking playmaker geniuses.
@@HeyFrankyes it is compared to the other powerhouses of football (Italy 60m and Germany 80m, Brasil almost 210m, France almost 70m)
Nobody played like riquelme. He had an exceptional touch and exquisite footwork but it was his football intelligence that i loved.
For me he was like Messi in the sence of being capable to read the play before that your adversary. But his style was rather unique. Players are not like this anymore.
Roman like Laudrup , Bagio
@@cuongtran-fl4vr naah.
Was lucky enough to see this man play at ibrox in the champions league years ago playing for villareal....Best player I've seen live. Best compliment I can pay him is that nobody could get close to him....looked like he was 2-3 steps ahead off everybody else. Class player 👏
I say this as a Colombian, that Juan Roman is by far (and it's not even close) my favorite footballer to watch of all time. He made me fall in love with watching Boca matches, he was that otherworldly. There really isn't anybody like him in the current generation and we are lesser for it.
Thank you. My childhood hero, and my favorite player of all time.
Love from India!!! He is one of the those players who can single handily controls the pace of the game. Having played forward mid myself I can simple see his first touch is the difference to set the tone of the game. One touch can initiate a attack. Most underrated footballer of all time in my view.
Unfortunately the media didn't support this maestro, my idol, ❤
Juan roman riquelme is one the best footballers of all time. When you mention Riquelme, you mention Ronaldo Nazario, Messi, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldinho and this kind of players, as he was on that level in terms of skill, elegance, touch, technical ability, football intelligence and passing ability etc... Boca Juniors is a club that produced Maradona, Riquelme, Tevez, Palermo and many more. Riquelme is the last true number 10..Legendary
This intro is amazing.
What a vídeo. What a player. The last 10.
My idol!!!!
"It seems that his brain keeps the memory of football of all time" - Jorge Valdano
My favorite midfielder. Smooth like butter.
Great video. No youtube clip can capture the essence of Riqeuleme - how he found space for his teammates, how he controlled the tempo of the games, how he turned the most sublime skills into simple routines. But this is as close as one can get to it. Ray Hudson's words were a perfect introduction too. Thanks for uploading this.
Miss him
Roman, I am thrilled that I got to see you play at Boca, winning the Apertura, Clausura, Libertadores, Intercontinental. I remember skipping school and listening to the game against Real Madrid in Tokyo on the radio. You changed a generation of football. Gracias Roman!
ESTOY LLORANDO! LO AMO CON TODO MI CORAZON!
The charisma and elegance of that man is just... breathtaking!
Riquelme had an excellent career. Played for Boca Juniors for around 15 years. Won several Argentina primera league titles, 3 Copa Libertadores, Copa Argentina, Recopa Sudamericana and intercontinental Cup beating Real Madrid aka Fifa club World Cup. Played in only one world up and was involved in one of the best goals in world cup history vs Serbia and got most assists in the competition. Played in 2 Copa Americas and was the main reasons why they went to final in 2007. By himself dragged Villarreal to the CL by dominating Everton and lead them to the Semi finals and was very unlucky not to make the final in 2006.
الساحر الفنان ريكيلمي
Remember watching this genius at his peak, elegant and effortless when in full flow.
Beautiful. El Ultimo Diez
Boca Juniors star and the last and best 10 in world football!
Imposible no emocionarse. Juan Román Riquelme. El ultimo 10
This video is perfect, it should have a million views, thanks for make the video, and eternal thanks Roman for your magic.
No lo vi jugar, que tristeza, soy fan de este hombre
Roman is my best player ever .
Technically perfect. So elegant, he is like the small version of zidane, strong, great balance and coordination, great vision and first touch. Makes football look easy, he should have achieved more with the talent he possessed.
Do you mean small because of his size? Because Roman was 1,83 and Zinedine 1,85 🤔
Zinedine Zidane after playing his last match for Real Madrid: "Riquelme is magic. He ruined my goodbye match with his quality. He drove us all crazy. It's an honor have retired with his shirt in my hands."
To think that Man United wanted him back when he was leaving Villareal but he decided to come back to Boca
Achieved more? He won 3 Libertadores and 1 Club world cup final against Real Madrid in wich he carried the whole team. Also he achieved: 6 League titles with boca and one argentinian cup with boca. 1 Intertoto with Villareal, 1 Champions league semifinal with Villareal, 1 Gold Olympic medal with Argentina, 1 southamerican sub 20, 1 World cup sub 20.
small version of zidane? here we are here comparing one of the most underrated players of all time with one of the most overrated players of all time
When someone tells me life is so unlucky, they don't know it's nothing because current generation is so unlucky that they never saw Roman ever.
I wish my son could've seen this man at his prime. Pure football
At his best there was no one like him. He was art. He was different.
Thank god we have Messi tho
@@AjayKannaSV well messi is god tho we can't compare gods with humans. 🙏 But Roman was a Demi God too 🙏 Surely one of greats in Argentines. 🙏💙
I saw him countless times in La Bombonera, I cannot describe with words what that was like. I was there in 1998, 1999, 2000, then when he came back to Boca from 2007 to 2014.
Grandisimo!!!! Inmenso!!!! descomunal!!!!! Roman Riquelme.....The F Best!!!!!!!!!!
🐐 Riquelme was phenomenal
Goosebumps! El Ultimo Diez! What a football genius!
Riquelme, what an Icon. Some action with Argentina was missed in this video. The games from Beijing with Leo, Di Maria, Aguero were something else. Leo could had won some major trophy if Roman hadn't resigned from the national team. He was an artist on the field.
the best of the best!
The greatest I've ever seen
He is the best. He was treated unfairly by media. I liked the title (when football becomes art) and
Maestro Jogava demais !!!!
The top players history! Celebriti Román Riquelme!!!
Gênio Gênio Gênius Ruan Roman Riquelme And Zinedine Zidane And Ronaldinho Gaúcho The Best Player History!!!😍🔥🇦🇷🇫🇷🇧🇷❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This video hits hard… he was so underrated
Lovely Comp 🙏🏾❤️

The player that had me mesmerized as a kid and get into football was Ariel Ortega.
Happy birth day romi...i love you ❤
Se llama juan roman riquelme junto a palermo y bianchi conquistaron ese mundo con respeto idolos son todo hermosos wow
POR MAS JUGADORES COMO #RIQUELME
Magic
One of the most underrated players of all time, sad that he never achieved his full potential. This guy could have been as good as Zidane
He already as good as Zidane..only because he play for boca juniors most of his carreer ..people underrated him
@@OlengGerrard for me, Roman is the most iconic player of the Copa Libertadores history. He single handedly won the cup in the 2007 after he came from Villareal. For Boca fans, Roman is the top icon that the club has. Even more important than Diego.
But, one thing is true. He had the talent to archieve even more than he did.
@@OlengGerrard boca junior is a great club , greater that psg , spurs , arsenal , Manchester city , sevilla , borussia , roma , valencia , lazio in the list goes on . boca junior lo mas grande .
He was as good as zidane and for me he was even better. People just don't rate Roman because he spent most time in South America. When he played in Spain, outside south america, he single handedly carried a below mid table team to champions league semi final. Roman was really something else. I wish people would have watched him more.
Roman ruined Zidane last match (Zidane words) because he singlehandled the match with a victory.
The ultimate number 8/10 the game has ever seen. If KDB is our generations goat the Juan is our God.
the king roman
La 12 💙💛
my friend mira el partido vs Real Madrid en el año 2000 y te juro que te enamoras
My idol. Comfortable for the eyes to watch him playing.
Hasta siempre, señor presidente!
Grandissimo calciatore Riquelme!
Roman: No estas tan lejos de Maradona
Wow
One of my favourite players
Harsh reality for harsh players he can always find a pass and a goal strong number ten not a moment wasn't wasted I like his Panna rolls and his sorted of double kick movement of free kicks like a ballerina strong
The only player that can make the Germans sit back
It's rare to see a significant homegrown playmaker like Riquelme would shine in national. He spend less of his career in Europe and more time in Argentina league with Boca Junior FC during his peak. While most of the best Argentinian that got called up came from european club, Riquelme is a homegrown man that didn't let his national team down. He literally represent as a Boca player to Argentina very well. That's why he's underrated
What are you talking about? How old are you?
Most great Argentinean and South American playmakers were homegrown... Riquelme, DiStefano, Moreno, Borghi, Aimar, Alonso, Bochini, etc. And not only playmakers... Tevez, Sivori, Kempes, etc. The list goes on...
My man
One of the most underrated players
God
……「 天才‼️ 」とは… この人の為の言葉や…。
i miss watching him play so much
❤️❤️❤️
💙💙
Si no te gusta Román no te gusta el futbol
Football today is poor in terms of quality and creative players. The playmaker role 10 is extinct.. So sad to see. Players are running faster and play in transition alot more these days but one thing that always beats speed and athleticism is elengence and skill... The likes of Riquelme, Zidane, Ronaldinho etc.. Possessed.
