FIRST DRIVE: Koenigsegg Chimera - 1600bhp, Manual, Agera RS/Jesko/CC850 Mash-Up!

- Christian von Koenigsegg is a glutton for engineering punishment. His Swedish hypercar company currently builds the Jesko (which has just set the 0-400km/h-0 record) and it’ll soon start delivering the new CC850 and Gemera to customers. That’s three distinct models, each with their own head-scratchingly complex innovations.
And yet, amongst all this, he said “yes” to a request from a customer who wanted their older-model Agera RS melded with the best bits of a Jesko and CC850 to create an absolute one-off.
Many engineering headaches later we have this, the Chimera, which blends an Agera RS with the 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from a Jesko and the fiendishly complex manual-cum-automatic gearbox from the CC850.

This thing has all the best 3 ''gearbox modes'' in one. Koenigsegg's engineering is the most underrated in the whole auto industry. This man will go down in history as one of the all time greats.

Ferrari and Lamborghini have been around forever so naturally they should get more praise. Bugatti got picked up by normies because when the Veyron came out it was the most expensive car in the world, the fastest, a truly incredible car and had lots of marketing. Those factors lead to it being idealized in non car culture 'i woke up in a new Bugatti' comes to mind.
Ask any car guy about Koenigsegg and they will tell you they love them. Also if Koenigsegg was as popular as Bugatti i don't think you would like them as much.
I believe his engineering team deserves some credit as well.

A Koenigsegg is essentially a piston drive jet on four wheels. The craftsmanship built into each one is astonishing. Mr. Koenigsegg sets a very high standard of manufacturing seldom seen in the manufacturing world. Every person who loves speed would love to own a Koenigsegg car. The sounds the motors make is classical music. Bravo Koenigsegg.

In many aspects they exceed the top of aerospace. Their carbon fiber work is peerless. The general engineering and design work is a thing of such technical brilliance that it is almost art. They are top tier

This is literally the car of my dreams and fantasies. After the CC850 came out, I actually fanatsized driving an Agera with the gearbox from the CC850 and the the engine from a Jesko. BEST THING I'VE SEEN ALL DAY.

@@Druze_Tito Nah nah I've always been into anything with an internal combustion engines, especially cars and this imo is the most perfect car for an enthusiast I've seen in the 17 years of my life. It's simplistically elegant, the power to weight ratio's perfect, it has the V8 and the most perfect gearbox.

@@chalkandcheese1868 Not necessarily. Koenigseggs WILL sell, to those who can afford them, of course. The brand, the engineering, the history, everything. This is one of the most legendary and unique hypercar brands out there. As a car person, I'm sure Von Koenigsegg himself would be very passionate to share his interest with others, and his own brand that he is passionate about. He would be proud to show off Koenigsegg's latest work, and it sure is impressive stuff.
Also, it doesn't really make sense to be desperate getting people to buy Koenigseggs because there are only so many who can actually afford them, lol. It kinda just happens, whether you're desperate or not it's not gonna make a difference. Either way, there is no reason for him or his brand to be desperate. These exclusive hypercars will sell.

There's at least two different ways to seeing the reasoning for the decision for himself being the spokesperson for his company. One very positive, and one not so much.

Christian is a pure genius and the definition of an automotive enthusiast. He genuinely loves learning and engineering and it shows in everything he puts his mind to. Mr. Koenigsegg, I salute you and your team for bringing us some of the most amazingly engineered automobiles the world has ever seen
A stick shift hypercar is something else. Koenigsegg really did the impossible that I don’t think anyone asked.
I asked. Sadly, I can’t afford one of these.
All enthusiasts would love to see Koenigsegg at Le Mans. Christian's pursuit of driving and engineering excellence is top-tier.

Endurance racing and exotic cars are sort of different things - when racing there is so many rules that the cars must conform to. And on top of that racing cars are tools so they are used as such.
They tried to do that once, they were making a car for the GT1 class, and when the car was essentially completed the FIA change the GT1 rulebook that made the car ineligible to race, carbon monocoque is banned from use and how many car needed to be produced went from 20 to 250 or something like that, which made it impossible for Koenigsegg to race because they can't make that many cars back then

A lot of what's been said rings true with every time I'm in my manual F-type V6 on country roads. It's a brilliant experience.

A lot of people loved the agera rs's design when it was the prime Koenigsegg, this chimera really revived that design with power of the jesko v8. Love to see Koenigsegg be back after a long while!

@@hejzlart nah, I'm talking about the gearbox. With regular cars, slipping through the shifts in a manual car wears out the clutch/clutches the car has quite quickly. But Koenigseggs gearboxes can take a whole lot of beating and their "manual gearbox still kinda is automatic but still feels like a manual. Outworthly freaking cars.
@TheMrTipZy a money shift doesn't wreck the clutch, though. It wrecks the engine. When you money shift you shock load the engine into an overspeed condition, which usually ends in a thrown rod or three.

@@MockingBrd. CC850's gearbox is the same gearbox as that in the Jesko, LST. It only has a simulating pattern of a manual gearbox over the Jesko's automatic gearbox.

I've never heard the jesko at crusing speeds before, the drive by clip of the chimera sounds beautiful. Crazy how such a powerful, utterly feral engine can also be so tame and relaxed sounding.
Manual transmissions are the ultimate...maybe not the fastest shifts, but they just merge your soul with the vehicles soul...better control..higher top speeds...pure manual love plain and simple..

I fitted my car with an automated brake. It was so boring before, but now, being constantly faced with sudden, harsh braking, it's awesome. Really feels great. I'll get a sight reducer next, leaving only small slits to see through. It's gonna be awesome fun!

@@alexluke84 Sure, Bugatti does touch up on the overall attention to the detail to the Nth level, however, I'd say Koenigsegg with their blend of innovative nature as well as refinement and overall materials is another unparalleled beast of its own league. They both have their unique attributes that make them what they are in their respective segments.
Bugatti impresses with inherited wealth and prestige, akin to a successful nepo kid. In contrast, Koenigsegg is like a genius artist, creating groundbreaking innovations from scratch.

The CC8 series of cars has been my favorite car design. So simple, but so elegant. Pairing it with modern tech is just amazing and having a greater that 1:1 bhp:kg ratio is just mental. My goal in life is to drive a CC8 of some kind before I pass.

Coyotes.... an TRC ( That racing Channel ) just built a 4wd Twinning Turbo'd a BEARLY modified 5.0 COYOTE Stock crankshaft stock rods stock Pistons etc can put out 1400+hp on lowwwboost 91octane / 1748hp on e 85 at @ the HUB . ADD JUST A 3 Stage Nitrous 300hp system. All inn the f150 is less than 100000k usd
