OMG! You are SOOOO entertaining! I mean REALLY! I could watch your video all day. You are a natural at this. Keep it up.
Yea she is " soooo entertaining " if you prefer silly and unnecessary jilly girl chatter added to your recipes .
Vincent Brown you must be afraid of cute girls
@@danakarloz5845 what's cute to you is plain and unattractive to me , so if you can come up with a more plausible retort .
Vincent Brown you mean, retort... I’m not particularly fond of stuffy old men who never peaked...
Dana Karloz, Vincent is correct she's a pain in the arse.
Mash sardines with avocado, dill, EVO oil and lemon juice and spread on buttered toast. My favourite breakfast.
Whoa! Sounds amazing!
This sounds good
Omg that sounds so yummy! I'm going to add a egg to that!
I love sardines. I love avocado. I never thought they mix before it hits my belly. Lol. I always like my avocado sweet rather than any other flavor.
genius
I stopped throwing out the oil in the can long ago and now put it in the pan and saute the garlic and whatnot with it. Whole new dimension of flavor. Love the video, because I'm always up for a sardine recipe.
😁💚
That would be great for the baked one
I'm with you, Paul. The lovely flavorful oil is too good to toss. I buy the King Oscar or Season sardines in olive oil. I make a nice plate of salad with olives and chunks of Provolone, pour out the oil from the can onto the salad, then add more olive oil as needed, splash some cider vinegar, add salt & Italian seasoning, throw on some grated Parmesan, top with the sardines. Dinner fit for a monarch!
But the oil in the can has already been heated and it is not a good idea to reheat the oil as the properties will change even more.
@@flowerpetals1396 I'm still alive and, I assure you, WAY older than you. Everyone says it's fishy how I keep hanging on when I throw caution to the wind and live dangerously :-)
One of my memories of hunting with my Dad is the snack we'd eat while in the woods was sardines on a cracker. I still love sardines and every time I eat them, I'm reminded of my Dad.
Wow. They can be good with crackers.
I love those memories with dad. Good fathers can’t be replaced and when they pass they leave a scar because you miss them so much and you remember their love and masculine strength. Many wise lessons were from my dad which I still implement today. And yes sardines on crackers are delicious 😋
When buying canned sardines I always make sure to get the ones with the skin, they taste so much better than the skinless kind.
Tried the garlic and herb sardines using the WRITTEN recipe linked above. Turned out well (thanks) but it is different from the recipe on the video. The recipe on the video first instructs to broils the sardine with the butter garlic mixture -- WITHOUT the panko -- for several minutes -- and then, in step two , instructs to add the panko to the butter garlic mixture and pour it over the sardines, and return the dish to the boiler for another 2 minutes. In other words, in this version, the panko is only broiled for 2 minutes and so it does not burn. The written recipe, however, states that you should add the butter garlic mixture INCLUDING the panko to the sardines and then broil for 5 minutes. I followed the written recipe but smelled the panko burning after about 3 minutes -- and pulled the dish from the broiler in the nick of time. In short, this is an excellent recipe, but folks should follow the recipe on the video so that they do not burn the panko. Panko will begin burning after about 2 minutes under the broiler. Thanks.
I sauté the sardines with onions and garlic in oil olive and that’s my sauce … just add crushed pepper; Bones and skin included!
My Italian parents both cooked them in a cast iron skillet until crunchy and put in crusty bread with a little aioli. Yum❣️
This sounds delicious, and I have to try it!
Cast iron rocks!
I eat a tin of these almost daily. A couple of eggs, and a bit of feta. Same way, every time. Glad to see some variety.
Hi
As a omelet? Need a recipe please sounds good. Thanks in advance 😊
I use the oil packed with the sardines. I also add a can of chopped clams. I saute garlic and shallots or whatever type of onion. I add butter and extra virgin olive oil. I also add capers and olives. At the end I add cream and milk and lemon juice. I make pasta but sometimes just have with crusty bread.
I did it!!
58 and I have finally tried Sardines!
I modified your first recipe just a little bit and tossed it with a gluten- free linguini.
Gotta say it was pretty dang good.
Thanks for helping me reach my goal of adding this little tastiness to my culinary repertoire.
Well, I'm 60 and haven't tried them yet, but I've bought them and they're here in my house. I've been dancing around them for two months. I'm not sure what the problem is because I actually love almost all kinds of fish. I'm looking for something crispy, I think.
@@jeanilong4916 GURL! Just do it!!! 😀🤣😉
The thought of not having tried sardines is so sad. lol I’m 63, and my dad and I used to fight over who got the last one in the tin.
You Can extract salt if you put a peeled potato cut in half. The potatoes will act as a sponge. Then take out potato.
Girl, I don't think you missed a thing. You even told us not to cook this dish in white. My favorite part, you got right down to business, you have a good pace to your voice (not too many "umms" or "likes") and your personality is naturally entertaining. Keep up the good work. :)
Growing up with an italian grandmother I got used to eating a lot of simple foods. My favorite was pizza. She would make a good homemade bread dough and put it into a baking pan. Then would come pasta sauce, anchovies, sardines, parmesan cheese. Bake till done. Then my favorite part, put it into the refrigerator until cold. Salty and delicious right out of the fridge. It's likely an acquired taste but to me it was far better than the hot store bought pizzas.
I would die waiting for it! The smeeeeeeeelllll
i love just pan frying them a little crispy and serving on buttered bread with sliced onion! love sardines
No garlic?
@@coldwynn nope, just some raw onion
Adding mustard is great as well.
I just eat sardines right out of the can. Got to taste and love them as a kid. My dad enjoyed them in a sandwich, with Mayo. I know this sounds gross, but having tried it, it is quite tasty. But, just out of the can is my fav. A can for lunch is filling and delicious.
Me too. Eat straight out the can and light season wz black pepper with crackers.
Mustard sardines are my favorite, on crackers, right out of the can. The mustard cuts both the oiliness and excess fishiness.
Oh yeah. You betcha. I will make a full on meal and add some crackers and cheese, olives and maybe something pickled. Preferably pickles onions
Mine dad as well. We would buy sardines from the war surplus store in military green cans. We needed to pull the key off the lid and open them by rolling the lid off with the key. Sandwiches, soda crackers, cheese, or straight out of the can. Didn't matter. Still eat them to this day. But I must say, they don't seem to taste the the same as in those days. But I'm 71 years old, so most things don't taste the same or as well as they did when I had an appetite.
@@myopinion3496 I had forgotten about rolling the lid open with the key!
When we start making Sardines gourmet, the demand goes up and so does the price. At a time lobsters was cheap and served to Prison inmates, now it's rich people's food.
The Fozzy Bear there were actually riots in prisons over the amount lobster served.
Really? I love lobsters
Same with oysters, they were sixpence a pail.
In Mexico the same thing happened with avocados. Those were reeeeally cheap until gringos started to put them on toast.
@@larrysergueisuckdick9221 same with tacos, quesadillas, chamorros, brisket, alitas!!!!(chicken wings) super caras! , tuetanos!!
Bones and skin are where nutrients are..big plus is vitamin D..
Calcium in bones 💯
Meh I see the sardines as a good source of protein, the amount of calcium and vitamin D you lose from the bones and skin are not a huge impact in my opinion.
@@joshuaborromeo6702 though they taste good and it’s healthy so a win win scenario
@Terry Moore: That's not true

I’ve loved sardines ever since I can remember. My go-to recipe is just olive oil, a little anchovy, garlic, sardines, pasta, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, Italian parsley, and a little lemon zest. Voila!!! It taste great!!! With fish being expensive as it is, I would prefer to eat sardines than the supposed “fresh fish” in the deli department at the local grocery stores.
My son loves sardines, but has them on toast for breakfast or dinner, I will use them now in a pasta sauce. I cannot believe i did not realize that myself considering i put tuna in a tomato sauce. so thanks for the recipe. Super. Your grilled sardines reminds me of spending time with my grandmother in Portugal. Grilled Sardines & a hunk of bread is lunch.
This makes me happy! Anchovies....especially white anchovies and sardines are goldmines of flavor!
My wedding catering service actually had a sardine pie on their menu. My husband turned up his nose when I decided it needed to be at the event. Everyone including him were surprised how delicious it was. Thankfully, the caterers had put aside a whole pie for me to freeze. I only order them from Swanson's Foods online as they stock no-salt sardines as well as lower sodium.
It's difficult by me anyways to find low sodium canned fish. Would love to eat more omega3s
OMG...the arugula is genius! I love that stuff. Thanks for the idea, I often have that on hand.
You are a natural with the camera. Your body language while you walk us through the recipes keeps it fun. On top of that you are incredibly beautiful. I think it's time you have your own show on the food network.
I absolutely love sardines you just made my day with these recipes💥🔥💯
The first recipe looks absolutely fantastic I'm going to do that within the next couple of days for sure.
My wife is a huge fan of Sardines but I’ve never been able to get past how funky they look. I’m definitely going to try both these recipes.
I love these 2 sardine recipes! The urugula added a nice touch. Please, more recipes, Megan!!
Awesome! Finally recipes for sardines, other than straight from the can. Thank you so much.
I'm a sardine believer I couldn't leave her if I tried.

I thought love was just a fairy tale.
I put mashed up tinned sardines in my pot stickers if I have no shrimp. Adds a depth of umami flavour and makes them delicious.
You should add some olives and mint or basil , they smell wonderful that makes everyone come to the table . Try them and you will not be disappointed . 😉
I just stumbled across this. This young lady should have a Food Network show. She's got the whole package... the.looks, the natural ease in front of camera, and that 'perky' personality.....along with knowing how to actually cook stuff. Move over Rachel Ray. And yes, she even touched on why more people should eat so called 'trash fish' like sardines. Well done Ms Mitchell.
Megan. You took simple sardines to a whole new level. Great. I will try this one for sure.
Megan needs her own CZcams cooking show because she is so entertaining to watch.
Never mind a cooking show, she has great acting abilities, she should be in movies, good looks too .
you are right; love the way she dances around a little bit
and she's beautiful.
She has a youtube channel called Megan Mitchell
She's gorgeous but she's not a great cook
LOVE this video. This woman is fun and relaxed and good-looking. Almost made me want to try sardines.
Absolutely. Highly doable!
I never thought sardines could be so versatile! Thank you ;))
I tend to eat the Baltic sardines (called sprats) straight from the tin, or on a piece of baguette, with a pretty sizeable glass of vodka. For puttanesca sauce, I use anchovies.
Love sprats.
And they are relatively cheap per can.
Sounds yummy
I plan to put tomato sauce with spaghetti squash as a pasta substitute. Completely stoked to have a new recipe using capers and olives!!!
I eat them straight out the can.
🤣
So do I but I came here because I'm tired of that. I need these oily fish for my cholesterol and triglycerides so I have to eat them often. I need a recipe! The first one is similar to the way my grandmother in Italy would make linguine with tuna sauce! I will make that but I should stay away from 'white' pasta. I don't have whole wheat or whole grain pasta, but I do have farro - a grain similar to barley.
Wow 40 likes for a stupefying post that points out how the whole World eats sardines . Amazing .
@OAK CLIFF Must've been a Sardine! LMAO 👍🍻
I eat the tin as well, it’s where the vitamins are ;)
Sardines are also the second best food (behind liver-which I detest) for Vitamin B-12.
This was an awesome video, and you are a great host for this show. Well done!
I'd like some more keto sardine recipes please, thank you lovely host lady!
I love sardines but I need variety!
I just love this girl. She is witty and smart.

I’m definitely trying these ideas !
Thanks so much 💖
I love watching your videos... you’re entertaining.... adorable!! And full of information ✌️ ❤️
I've always loved sardines, even as a kid.
If you add firmly cooked cauliflower florets in place of arugula this also makes a wonderful meal for the first recipe.
One of the most entertaining recipe videos I have had the pleasure to watch. You are so great at this.
What a natural
Loved the video it was so entertaining and comforting.
I love sardines. When I was a kid I couldn't stand them. My Dad used to eat them and then when I got older I tasted some again and really liked them. I never knew there were different recipes for them. I usually eat them out of the can with some saltine crackers, lol. thanks for the recipe.
Yup. Saltines and sardines. That’s better than all this nonsense. 🤣
Best personality ever for a cooking show. Glad I found this
I LOVE this recipes! Delicious and nutritious. Thank you!
Just made this- it was fantastic ! thank you
Yummy, also tomatoe sardines, add onions.on top of white rice, yeah.
oOo I've always wondered what to eat the tomato version with. Before this video I saw the tomato sardines in instant ramen.
Whole wheat toast, tomato sardines, thinly sliced sweet onions marinated with white vinegar. Top with some sliced cherry tomatoes, salt, pepper, and fresh basil optional.
She's gorgeous and I love the recipes

I love your vivacious personality and the way you present your videos, not at all dull! A sardine spokesperson for sure! Patted them dry, tucked them into bed, read them a story, hilarious! Hello from Australia.
To avoid splattering, hold the can/jar (or whatever) lower and pour with the open end pointed toward the back of the stove.

you cant take the salt out but if you add potato, the high potassium content will mitigate the salty taste, as sodium (na) and potasium (K) have a symbiotic relationship
