The recipe for orange Julius is easy. The reason it’s different now is because they can’t use raw egg white to make it frothy. They use egg white protein powder now. The original was oj, egg white, vanilla, ice & then blend.

Bob's Big Boy, Van Nuys Airport, Wednesday night cruising with classic and sports cars. General Motors, classic signs, Shakeys Pizza, A &W, Pioneer Chicken, Phil Ahns Moongate Restaurant, Drive ins, drive in Restaurants, Orange Julius, filming and so much more. Thanks for the memories.

15:36 - Very Nice to see that Vintage BMX is represented there! The E.T. bike was a model from Kuwahara because it's the same brand, model, that "Elliot" rode in the movie. Kuwahara was a Japanese brand of course, but BMX is definitely rooted in the Valley and many of the bikes were produced in SoCal. I just recently saw that they released a 40th anniversary edition of the bike! Also, there is a movie called "joe kid on a stingray" that talks about the birth of BMX until the present.

Iconic neon history is so awesome to look at! You are correct in saying the museum is for you…I think it would be for many people who love this kind of history. I really enjoy fast food history. It may be because food ties us with so many memories.
I’m not sure if it was that particular Bob’s Big Boy, but I know I’ve been to what looks like that same place every time I had gone to California to visit my birthplace. I love it when the fast food places from days gone by, still look and feel like they did many years ago….I recently commented to a friend that McDonalds is now a brown or black box, instead of the iconic slant roof with the two arches…some that was fun to go to eat, is now a dull box. I miss those days.
Wonderful look into the past! Next time try the burger! 😎

"In 2002 Kuwahara decided to reissue the ET model as part of the ET anniversary and the first year anniversary of the opening of Universal Studios in Japan. Kuwahara made a limited run of 300 bikes which used NOS (New Old Stock) frame and fork kits from the early 80's and later model parts that were similar (but not authentic) for a special anniversary edition of the ET Kuwahara that was known as the KZ-2.5"🚴👽

This really has me busting with nostalgia, especially for those signs. l literally drove past the Mustang liquor store on Sherman Way yesterday and wondered for the umpteenth time whatever happened to that neon horse that was taken down about a decade ago. Now l know, at least it was salvaged and restored. There's a painted horse there now. l worked at that very Del Taco 44 years ago and grew up just a few blocks away and now live 3 miles away. ln 55 years, l hadn't travelled farther east than the Grand Canyon, but on the second day visiting my sister in Florida a couple years ago, who do l bump into on Market St.? Adam! Then l find out a few months ago he was in my own backyard just for the heck of it, that's nuts! Now l'm def going to check out that museum. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks!

Wow , this video warmed my heart and gave me all kinds of nostalgic feels and happiness . I was born in Van Nuys and I recognize so much of this stuff. I have an uncle and cousin in The Stuntman's Hall of Fame , Junior Bear Hudkins and Bobbie Herron . My great uncle Ace Hudkins along with his brother Art owned Hudkins' Brother's Movieland Ranch and they were the original owners of Trigger and Silver . Silver's real name was High Yo Silver and actually 6 horses played Silver . Tonto owned his own horse . My uncle Ace used to rent wagons and ranch stuff plus horses of course to all the studios and he would then have the studio making the Western hire his nephews to do stunts in the movies and it was so much fun hearing about the ranch and hearing the stories of movie stars . Dale Evens had to make payments on Trigger . My cousin Bobby Herron was stunt double for Robert Conrad in Wild Wild West . Bobby also was head of the Stuntman's association at one time . Now the Ranch was eventually sold and is now part of Forest Lawn Glendale . My Aunt Liz used to work at Sportsman Lodge . Great memories . Thank you so much Adam .

I've been wondering if you'd notice this on your own, but there's a black speck on your lens that's been on left side of your videos for the past couple of weeks. Just thought you should know :)
Okay, I see that later in the video it disappeared. Never mind!
**Edit** And the speck returned for the outdoor scenes at the end.

Pioneer Chicken, I loved that place growing up in Los Angeles, the chicken there was so unique to all the other places that offered up the yardbird, great memories. Love me some Bob's Big Boy as well, sadly haven't been there in ages, but maybe on my next road trip?

Awesome museum. I went to the Bob's Big Boy in Culver City in the 1970's-early 1980. The Busch Gardens was in Van Nuys and had a great show and it was at the Budweiser facility. Went there in the mid 1970's.

We had a Malibu Grand Prix in Cincinnati Ohio. It was the ultimate in go cart racing. The track was tougher than most where your lap times were clocked. To race an actual current drivers license was required, and a Malibu racer drivers license was issued for an additional charge. The race cars were expensive and it insured they were misused. It was really fun, but got expensive at the same time.

Adam, there's a Veggie Grill (Vegan Restaurant) across the street from Bob's Big Boy. They too are an LA landmark with many locations all over California. I absolutely love Veggie Grill and highly recommend you and Daphne to try them. You will not be disappointed by their food, but more than likely quite surprised.

The old hod dog spot across from Bobs was an LA landmark, not that Vegetarian chain restaurant.
