      Absolute BS.
      How are you going to marry someone if you don’t know them intimately? Love is being comfortable with one another enough to share intimacy. How are you supposed to know that from a side hug? Not to mention they are very strict about divorce and they can only get one under certain extreme circumstances. These girls are at a very high risk of living in a loveless marriage and being stuck. That is no way to live your life.

Like someone had to stay at home and help the mother raise all those kids cause Jim Bob doesn't look like his much help. Probably had a vote and the poor girl lost that or the rest of them were like I'm getting out of here as quick as I can!!!

    • @cyberwolf_1013

      That's the cult mentality coming into play. In the Quiverfull movement, of which the Duggars are major followers, the man of the house is second only to God. So what he says should be taken as God's word. The daughters should remain pure for their future husbands whom the dad has to approve of. This is the courting thing where families get together and arrange their children for marriage.

      The problem is that these couples "court" for about 3 months, get engaged, then are married 3 months after that. It's hardly enough time to get to know someone. Especially if you're 19 or 20. They act on their hormones which means marrying the first person you want to kiss.

      "Watered-down education?" I can bet you that the Duggar children are probably 10x smarter than the average high school graduate attending public school. Just because you don't share the same religious views and the same way of life as them, doesn't make them stupid. Everyone talks about women's rights to choose their path in life, but they forget to mention that it's okay for a woman to WANT to become a wife and mother. If a woman is content in that life and she's happy, then why should SHE be looked down upon? Not ALL women want to go to college or start a career! And never once in all the years and episodes, I've watched, have I EVER heard the Duggars say that college was forbidden. Please find me proof of that! There isn't any because it's a false allegation. I'm sure if one of them desired to go to college and become a doctor, the etc..their family would stand behind them all the way. But, so far, It's not what they've chosen and I don't see anyone FORCING them down the aisle or forcing them to have children. It's their choice, it's their religion, and it's their life! When did "housewife" become a dirty, taboo word anyway? What's ironic, is that these young women are probably far happier in their lives than other young women who ARE going to college and striving to break the glass ceiling. Quit being so judemental!

Matthew 11:19 is the verse I am talking about, so they would be condemning Jesus if he was here.

    • @GaylaBarrett
      @GaylaBarrett Před 6 lety +24

      Elizabeth LovesYT Just had to come on here to clarify. This verse isn't saying that Jesus drank "so much" or was a "drunkard". The Lord himself is speaking in this verse and is saying what people call him. He speaks about John first and says because he doesn't indulge in what the world does, he's a demon. So he's being chastised for living differently. And because the Lord eats and drinks "he is a glutton and a drunkard". Eating and drinking doesn't mean "eating and drinking alcohol". It was a time of feast and communion. Christ “did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.” (1 Peter 2:22) I hope I'm making sense, but scripture isn't always literal. The Lord often speaks in parables, so you have to have wisdom and discernment for what you're reading to fully understand the meaning. Have a nice day!

    I think that kissing before marriage was one Duggar couple’s idea, and then the rest are like trying to “one up” the rest of their siblings by continuing that tradition. I think one of them will seriously be like “we didn’t meet until our wedding!”

    I don’t see a problem with them living how they want as long as it’s a CHOICE. Not a family choice, but a choice that they each have. The choice to chose their own lives, paths and make their own decisions. I get that feeling that this is not the case. It seems like they’re stuck with the ways they’re raised and aren’t allowed to make their own rules as adults.

    I can't imagine not being allowed to have physical intimacy like kissing before marriage. In my experience it is such an important part of the process. If kissing and physical intimacy were off the table in my last relationship I might still be with him because our physical incompatibility is what caused our breakup. And if I were still with him I would never have gotten together with the man I'm with now who is the love of my life.

      Why does that make them sick? What is truly SICK are the people going out and having one night stands and casual sex every weekend, and then running off to the nearest abortion clinic. That's sick. Married couples conceving children in wedlock is the way it was meant to be.

    Forget physical intimacy. There's no way to build emotional intimacy either if all of your interactions before marriage are supervised. They're getting married to complete strangers. What an easy way to end up with an abuser.

    We all know a big reason they have such short courtships and engagements is largely because they are dying for physical touch and privacy.
    I understand waiting until marriage but imagine how much longer their courtships and engagements would be if they allowed for some reasonably physical touch (hand holding, hugs, kissing, etc,) and privacy.
    I also know their family frowns upon divorce. So since you married someone you barely knew they could actually be a horrible match for you once you truly get to known them. No Duggar courtships and engagement last more then a year. Most of them only officially dating each other for 6-9 months before getting married. There is no way in hell I would do like that. They are still in the honeymoon phases of their relationship (the new relationship honeymoon period and engagement honeymoon period) when they get married. Then they have the honeymoon phase of being wed and never are able to talk and go through the hard things until after the fact.
    I much prefer the Bates family over the Duggar’s. They let the couples set their own boundaries for their relationships and allow for privacy (meaning non-chaperoned dates, private communication, access to social media). They allow their girls to make there own decisions. They are encourage higher education to all of them. Their most recently married daughter had been with her boyfriend for about 3 years before getting married. There is not nearly as much rushing around with them. They still have more traditional religious values and ways but they don’t force it upon their children or others.
