    Elton John lived a very long time in France and knew and appreciated the music of Michel Berger and France Gall a lot, this is the reason why he absolutely wanted to meet them to work with them and then Michel Berger will design the song. "Donner pour donner" that Elton and France will sing ...
    It was Elton who was inspired by Michel Berger's piano and not the other way around because Berger was a much better pianist ...

  • @martine2u
    @martine2u Před 3 lety +64

    You have it the other way around: you feel Michel Berger's vibe in France Gall's (and many others) songs and singing style. Michel Berger shaped the music of the 70s and 80s. He wrote the score for Starmania (you've now listened to "SOS d'un terrien en detresse" and "Ziggy"). His work cannot be ignored if looking at that period. He was a remarkable piano player, song writer and all around influencial artist for some many artists around him (he wrote for many beyond his wife France Gall). You're correct: France Gall is part of the chorus.
    I'm with you: I always loved his message, very positive and hopeful. Always thoughtful and inclusive. A good message I personally took to heart then and continue to cherish. It's also probably the reason these songs have endured and still speak to us to this day.

    A propos, ils se connaissaient avec Elton John. Elton a fait un duo avec France Gall?
    Le rôle de Bruno Marteli, dans le film et la série télévisé "Fame", me faisait penser à lui.
    Oui la musique et, surtout, le piano compte beaucoup car c'est avant tout un compositeur. La voix féminine est bien France Gall, sa femme (avant de le connaitre, elle était une vedette et avait gagné l'Eurovision grâce à une chanson de Serge Gainsbourg, grand auteur que je conseille). Avant qu'il nous décède, il a sortie un album à deux voix, avec sa femme. Sa musique évoluait vers de nouvelles directions mais hélas nous ne sauront jamais jusqu'où il serait aller (exemple: "Laisser passer les rêves").
    En plus d'être le compositeur de la comédie musicale "Starmania", il a aussi travaillé avec des chanteurs comme Johnny Hallyday "Quelque chose de Tennessee" t la reprise de "Diego".
    By the way, they knew each other with Elton John. Elton made a duet with France Gall.
    Bruno Marteli's role in the film and television series "Fame" reminded me of him.
    Yes, music and, above all, the piano counts a lot because it is above all a composer. The female voice is France Gall, his wife (before knowing him, she was a star and had won Eurovision thanks to a song by Serge Gainsbourg, a great author that I recommend). Before he passed away, he released a two-part album with his wife. His music was evolving in new directions but alas we will never know how far he would go (example: "Letting dreams pass").
    Besides being the songwriter of the musical "Starmania", he has also worked with singers like Johnny Hallyday's "Something From Tennessee" and the cover of "Diego".

    Hello Dereck, if you like Michel Berger and his piano style, you should try Veronique Sanson and 'Amoureuse'. Very good pianist and wonderfull voice. She flirted with Michel Berger before he get married to France Gall.

    • @samueldevulder
      @samueldevulder Před 3 lety

      Sanson wasn't flirting. She was somehow engaged with Michel, but dropped him to follow an American singer. Berger was very depressed by this.. Then F.Gall which has been dropped by C.Francois when she won the Eurovision song contest get to fallback on the lone Berger. I had always thought that this song describe the life of F.Gall with C.Francois.

    michel berger was a very good pianist and lyricist! he wrote little wonders, especially for himself, france gall and veronique sanson.
    you hear france gall in the choir.
    two other essential pianists, lyricists and singers: William Sheller and Michel Polnareff

      Berger never wrote any song for Sanson. He produced her first and second albums.

    Michel Berger is famous for Starmania :a musical show. You probably heard about through songs like "SOS d'un terrien en détresse", Ziggy, or le monde est stone. The last one has an English version. See about it, you will find many versions of each song by different artist, but all is written by Michel Berger.

    Cette chanson raconte tout ce qu'elle a pu faire avant qu'il ne la remarque et qu'il devienne marie et femme ❤️

    Love your work Dereck, thank you so much. Michel Berger was the French Elton John indeed, in the 80's he wrote and composed many hits. Speaking of Elton John, you should listen to France Gall - Il jouait du piano debout, this sons is about Elton John. Other songs: Daniel Balavoine - Aimer est plus fort que d'être aimé / (the duet) Daniel Balavoine/France Gall - Quand on a plus rien à perdre.

    Every time I hear this song I get sad thinking about what happened to this family. The singer died of a heart attack prematurely and his 19-year-old daughter followed him a few years later from a genetic disease. France Gall his wife died a few years ago of cancer too. Only his son remains. It's truly sad. 😔

    Michel Berger, France Gall, Daniel Balavoine.... C'est vraiment toute mon enfance.
    Michel Berger est mort en 1995, France Gall en 2018, leur fille Pauline en 1997. Il ne reste que leurs fils, Raphaël.
    Michel Berger a composé beaucoup de chansons, des tubes. Mais il y en a une en particulier qui résonne en moi, c'est: " une minute de silence"...

    Yes It's normal that Michel Berger's songs has France Gall vibes because Michel Berger composed France Gall's songs
    Indeed Berger is a super great melodist not only for her but for him too, he composed many catchy melodies
    You've also reacted to an another one "Le Paradis Blanc"

    Thanks. Here, my suggestions of my Michel's fav songs: "Mademoiselle Chang", "Voyou", "Ça ne tient pas debout", "Quelques mots d'amour", " Ecoute la musique", "Seras-tu là", "Les princes des villes", "Bateau toujours" (a silky duet with Daniel Balavoine),"Chanter pour ceux qui sont loin de chez eux", "Attends moi", "Pour me comprendre", and so many others and absolutely all the tracks (gems) of the album "DOUBLE JEU" which contains only huge duets with France Gall. Especially these followings tracks "Superficiel et léger", "Laisse passer les rêves", "Les élans du cœur", the sad "La petite fille de Calmette", "La négresse blonde", the so emotional song dedicated to Daniel Balavoine", "La lettre" (= the letter).

    You should listen to Starmania (a musical) written by Michel Berger with Daniel Balavoine and France Gall.
    It’s amazing!
    It was then adapted in the US with Cyndi Lauper.
