      I've heard a lot of these 718 GT4 aftermarket exhaust videos, and this car just doesn't sound good. I don't know why it sounds terrible. It's nothing like a GT3 (I know; they are different engines), even though they are both high-revving flat 6. The sound is just like a normal car.

I can't remember which side it uses. It will do this even if the car is off, and it sometimes throws people because it comes on after they have turned the car off and while it is just sitting there. If you had just been on a spirited drive when you heard the sound, that is probably what it was.

      @sixpotshot Před 4 lety +2

      I don’t think it does. And if you read the Sport Auto - French edition neither do they. It is just not simply a matter of exhaust and for that this exhaust is not better than the original 981 GT4’s plus if you add a Sharkwerks exhaust to the 981 GT4 than this 718 even with this special exhaust will be dropped for dead. Like for like stands no chance. It is only faster around a track because its Michelin compound rubber being more recent is faster.

I have 160 mi on my GT4, I did the exhaust valve mod and I love how it sounds now (though still breaking-in and keeping it under 4500rpm). I believe US bound cars do not have the particulate filters but there is conflicting info on that. Your JCR exhaust sounds great, congrats.

      Nick, the US (and many other non-EU GT4/Spyder) versions have the filter with the ceramic matrix inside, but they do not have the precious metal coating nor the monitoring hardware. So, both US and EU cars sound almost the same, while the EU version actually filters particulate. Check out this forum, and look for the posts by JCR, there is a lot of info on the filters (GPF / OPF).

    Alot and I mean alot of people complain about a lack of or reduction in horsepower when a car is modified. Theirs been quite a few channels that have done an opf delete and jcr back section and when they take it to the dyno they're upset. When you do this type of stuff even on a naturally aspirated car with such a restrictive exhaust it's probably a good idea to have the car re mapped after that is where you will see your gains. The gt4 4.0 is actually closer to a 500hp motor the factory tuning and restrictive exhaust is what makes it sit at 420. That said I can't wait until someone supercharges or turbos one of these motors the 981 generation is a lesser car and had an extreamly underwhelming motor... The new 718 Gen is basically a 911 turbo motor without the turbos. A set of turbos or super charger and 10psi I'd guess will bring this to around 600hp or so. So if it isn't already quick at 420 quicker with Boltons and a tune it's going to be a monster with a little boost.

    Great sound, thats really proper! And watching more about watches would be great as well. You could make everything look good in a video anyways :)

    Luke,
    Love the exhaust. I’m taking possession of a GT4 in September. Was wondering, is that the silenced or non-silenced JCR and are they inconel or megaphone tips (seem to recall hearing inconel)?
    Thanks

      It’s the silenced version, apparently there is 1db difference but because I have the flap mod and can keep them open all the time mine is most likely louder than others.
