- I just really hate the mirage I can't really put it into the cleanest of words how much I absolutely loathe and despise the mirage every single time I come across it in a multiplayer environment because I always have to think to myself "Is the really worth my time? Is this guy really gonna give me a fair fight or am I about to get gyped here?" Like come on man it's SOOOOOOO bad. The thing is LITERALLY INVINCIBLE TO SARH MISSILES!!!!! I just want to never ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER have to fight another mirage 2000 in DCS that has the jammer available to it because it's just the most annoying thing on the planet for this game. It’s more of an issue for 15E specifically as well. For my time in the 15E vs M2K’s about 9.5/10 times my Sparrow won’t track. It’s only the case like 3-4/10 times in the Hornet or Tomcat. Also the head on IR lock range on the M2K is reduced a lot too so I can’t even 18nm 9M them as a counter lmao. Plus the M2K being the best BFM plane in the game (yeah Hornet is technically better but not when configured for the average PvP server loadout).
But nah clearly we are just bad and need to get better.
So true! The F-15E does just suck really really bad at Fox-1 b/c of lack of features needed for the sparrow to function. And if you’re not experiencing the problem on the 14/18 it’s most likely b/c the 7P, as implemented by ED incorrectly, it doesn’t actually matter if you illuminate the target or not
@PrezDCS I did some dedicated MP test a while ago, actually when the module came out.
I think there is a specific problem with the F-15E, because I tried the same AIM-7M with F-14, F-15C and F-15E Vs M-2000C jamming, and F-15E was the worst.
So let's say the ECCM modes are not simulated yet 😅
@@JoJo-vm8vk Yeah, I know they aren't simulated, that's been publicly stated by RB. Hopefully they can get back to work on the module and fix up the issues like that.
Even outside sparrows not tracking, it’s the king of BVR, it has the ability to keep you defensive. And if you try and notch to merge it’s fast enough to close the gap 9 times out of 10 you die to the magic…
I've not had much trouble spoofing the magic IIs, but OMG do I absolutely hate merging with it. That UFO is the worst thing to fight next to a clean hornet.
@@PrezDCS it’s probably tomcat cope, if they fire within a mile side aspect I’m almost always dead. Running away is boring and multipathing 530s isn’t reliable.
@@Joemate23 Notching's fairly hard in the tomcat, although chaff is quite effective against the mirage thankfully. If you've got tally it should be easy to spot the launch since the magic isn't smokeless.

@@Joemate23 Perhaps meming the missile with a sudden jerk of the pitch axis to induce an AoA desync just like 50% of the mirages I encounter do would help out lol
M2k falls in an awkward area. Too good for ECW servers. To dominate for fox 1 servers. And can hold its own in a fox 3 meta server. Even if it only has 2 BVR missiles.
The guys that fly it in Fox-3 arenas are real ballsy that's for sure. You're right tho that it's just too good for it's era and just barely passing for anything newer.
i gave up on making the aim-7 work in dcs, so now i fly the viper in fox-1 server.
I urge you to reconsider. Sure, it’s not super fast (I think it underperforms just slightly) but it’s a sure fire way to get a head on kill outside the range of a heater. I enjoy them quite a lot. Most people just have no idea what the useable range of missiles actually is/how to Fox-1 fight
@@PrezDCS with a 9m, you can launch on people from 10nm if they are burning and flying at 20k with you flying at 20k. Lots of people don't expect it and don't defend. But yeah aim-7 if you have a brain is definitely better for head-on.
@@loonbell People keep telling me that about the winder, but I just don’t trust it enough to try cuz I tend to assume the other guy is aware of me if he’s co-alt and nose hot at the range you could shoot the sidewinder
Really nice headtracking settings man, what do you use and how do you setup your curves?
I've got a wireless DeLan clip for my head tracker, and I use a PS3 Eye to track it. It's good, but the low resolution camera(640x480) makes it kind of jittery at times specifically when zoomed in a lot. It also makes using it for 3D motion kind of iffy . Rotation works just fine. The actual software I use is FaceTrackNoIRv200 which is the paid version. It's only like 5 bucks. As for the curves, I've got all of it set linearly. 25 degrees left or right goes the full 180. Pitch is 15 up or down for the full 90. Roll is set for 50 degrees equal 90. The only translation axis I have active is the X-axis for side to side motion so I can look over the side and around most things.
I 100% agree with you, the Mirage is part of the reason why TBF died(that and the dogshit new PvE scenario that somehow made it past teating). Most people didn't believe me when i told them the AIM-7s didnt track on the F-15s because of the jammer, and the amount of people who said it was fair because "it only had 4 missiles" was obsurd. Even Tempest himself said it was balanced because the K/D on the F-15C and Su-27 was higher. Now whenever i see one i just book it to the nearest SAM, theres really nothing else you can do.
I think TBF died mostly because they went to Engima's version 2 code when they really shouldn't have b/c the zones just do not work for large the large strike based aircraft we have in late cold war. But yes, the mirage is ridiculous and anyone saying it isn't is a psychic casualty
@@PrezDCSyeah when they switched to V2 that's when I stopped playing. Talking with Enigma it seemed like V2 could've just been a rewrite of V1 with the Frontlines, but instead of that they copied to the hex format which really didn't work with the 4th gen jets as well. Then theres PG V2 which completely killed the server.
They had a good thing going, but now contention will fill the void and I think it’s very good the way it works.
@@PrezDCS shame, TBF was amazing. I had some great moments on that server, but like you said contention is also pretty good. Going to be even better when the F-4 drops
@@PrezDCS It isn't about the M-2000C, it's a problem on the F-15E. Other modules with AIM-7 don't behave like that.
The problem in my opinion with the M2K is that in 90% of the servers it’s effective in there is really no counter to it besides the weapon count on other jets, servers like buddyspike where you have the aim 54 which is not the best but at the same time it makes it so the M2K cannot just curbstomp anything it gives it a challenge because it has to kinda be a little more cautious I want to use the mirage more because I love the aircraft but I don’t want people mad at me so I’ve been hesitant on playing it 😅
As long as you always make sure the jammer is turned off then it's no problem. The issue is always the jammer and most people turn it on to automatic either b/c it's part of the procedure they learned or b/c of the autostart procedure. Most people don't know that it does this. Just don't use the jammer and you'll be a hero in my book.
The Mirage 2000 is a pleasure to fly, give it a try. I assure you with only 2 fox 1, no SA screen, you wont feel invincible.

The point of the video is talking about the jammer on the mirage, not the mirage itself. I'm not afraid of a mirage without a jammer

The Mirage can handle its own on a fox 3 meta server. 90% of fox 3 users don't give the missile any guidance and it goes dumb while the pilot is running away. Or... just bleed/defeat the missile. Also the 530 can do a 15-20nm kill regularly if deployed correctly. And then those fox 3 users cry when it comes to a merge and blame Razbam because of their lack of skill and say it's a UFO.

I think F-14s should start turning on their jammers when fighting M2000s
Unfortunately, this is an asymmetrical implementation of the jammer. I wish it gave me a forcefield tho lol

As an f14 pilot i love mirages that run from me on the deck. If you've accelerated during a dive, the tomcat can keep mach 1.4 at the deck, and the only thing that can save those m2000 is their sam site
When they run it's just super annoying to me. Now I have to waste extra gas and time to maybe catch him before he gets to his airfield which almost never happens. Just not fun.
@@PrezDCS that's generally annoying, but every time I chase someone in that fashion I feel like an absolute evil in a horror movie, sitting there and watching the distance decreasing, knowing that my prey won't escape and will run out of gas before my f14a. Personally, that feeling makes up for the annoyance

It’ll never happen. Most people would just stop playing red. Half the time I go on contention, if it’s not totally full, the only fixed wings are M2Ks. It would kill the server. RB or ED just need to disable ECM or make it an option in the ME. Cuz it’s just so dumb
