Filmed on Sony a7S III and the NEW 20-70mm F/4 G Lens! 🤓 Review: czcams.com/video/xy3TFzTj9iA/video.html

I've been watching a ton of itinerary videos for Japan and this by far is the best! Love the video structure and commentary. thanks for sharing!
Dude that is an amazing content. I like the format, photos, the way you are honest and go into detail about things. Thumbs up!
Great job on the video you two! Thanks for making it.

Im going with my dad ! I’m in Japan and my dad is here for vacations 🎉thanks for the video ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Can't wait to go!! thank you for reassuring my decision!! awesome video!
I just spent 3 months in Osaka and it was fantastic. Really funny to see so many familiar sights here in your video. It seems like everyone on CZcams has been passing through Osaka recently. I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.
Jason Please do a Tokyo and a Kyoto one!! Please and also a mt fuji if you can please
your editing/camera is freaking BEAUTIFUL!! doesn't matter if it doesn't have much food recs, BEE-YOO-TEEFUL. very much enjoyed watching this! i've been watching a lot of videos to prep for my trip, but yours is not to be missed. thank you!

Glad the visual imageries help!
We love Osaka! I cant wait to go back!
Thank you for the itinerary and tips. Currently doing research for a Japan trip later this year.
Hey Jason really like the Video.. Specially the small exposure advices you gave were great...!
Hope to see more of these Videos :)
I loved your video edition. Awesome work. Also I've been to Japan back in 2004 but i didn't get to see Osaka. Seems like a fun place! Greetings from Croatia
Great video to help me plan my trip in May thank you!
Great video!
you packed a ton in 48hours! love this thanks :)
Amazing to watch this, some of those shots look sooo dope! Hoping to visit Osaka one day
This was legit such an informative Japan travel video. Thanks for making this content man.
Feels awesome to re-live the areas you filmed, and dear god the lens and post-edits are drop dead gorgeous
Appreciate it man! Thank you!
Super helpful for my upcoming trip! The cinematic section was *chef's kiss*.
Because of the pandemic, I lost my Olympic tickets and travel itinerary to Osaka, Yokohama, and Tokyo. This fired me up to try again. 🏯🗾
Great video! I'm going to Japan in May and the idea is to spend 2 days in Osaka, so this was perfect. Thank you!
The cinematic section was really cool, it was like. a quick overview and then got all the details, loved hearing all the details
Gotta say thank you for sharing Jason! Loved the cinematic shots and overall travel trips you shared. Looking forward to more of your Japan travel vids.
I lived in Osaka 7 years ago and I so badly want to go back. I love Japan.
why did you leave?
@@DDHDTV family illness
Perfect share! We are going for the first time. Live near Universal in the US but now I might do Universal Osaka! 🎉
Just came back from Osaka. Great place, but wish I had checked this video first
Absolute banger video brotha. Hyped af for Super Nintendo World
Best review of super nintendo world !!thank you! only when you are single man or a club going, you will need more days in Osaka because night life is awesome there!
will be in Osaka in April, you're video is very helpful and I like the photo tips, since i'm a photog, too. looking forward to the trip.... this
Hey Jason!!! Super fan here!!! Love love the video, as we are planning to go to Japan in December! Thanks for all the recommendations!
enjoy!!
You got me at “the book that we roomed” lol
Just what I'm looking for. Thanks
Will be visiting OSAKA next month. Thanks for the tips!
Have a good time!!
Super helpful and amazing footage, thanks man!
Thank you!
Great content. Love the concept of showing cinematic footage first and then going into detail. ✅
Awesome! Thank you for the feedback! I’d love to do more cinematic stuff!
This was beautiful man. Thanks for this art
I’ve been on a round the world trip recently and Osaka was one of those destinations and I have to say, it was absolutely incredible. Wanted to go to Japan for so long and after being there it was everything I wanted it to be and more. Very hospitable, incredibly clean and well maintained, beautiful country, highly recommend a trip there!
WOW! That cinematic portion was absolutely breathtaking!
Thank you!!
sincerely your video is super amazing, really detailed informative... next time when I go to Osaka definitely I will follow this schedule, thank you so much for your effort!!!
nice video, thanks
Omg thank you for this video!!! We can’t wait to go there this April!!! :)
Enjoy! Please come back and comment about how your trip went!
Really enjoyed it, makes me more excited to go to Japan…
I would be fascinated to see you do something akin to the street photography video with Professor Hines that goes into what you record travel video… Started playing around with my phone gimbal again, but its obviously a whole new skill set and my photography brain doesn’t have the same concepts for doing things in motion…
Thank you! I actually have done something similar for Travel Filmmaking back in 2019: geni.us/g8dIM It's a link to a playlist of videos I've done on Japan as well. There is a particular video that I've done that focuses on gimbal motions as well! Hope it's what you were looking for!
I enjoyed your video very much, nice production
Awesome video Jason! I want to visit Japan one day 😭
This sort of video is interesting, because even if I went to Osaka, it wouldn't ever occur to me to go to theme parks or fish restaurants. Would definitely hit the castle and the temples though! So this is educational
I was only able to spend 2 days in Osaka on my recent trip but it kept snowing off and on both days and it was so beautiful. Dotonburi at night is one of my favorite things I've ever experienced!!
nice!! the snow scene in Japan definitely elevates it to another level!
Man I miss Japan, dude I work for Universal and we just had our employee night for our Hollywood Nintendo World and it's cool but feels a lot smaller than the park in Osaka. Time to use that employee privilege and go to Osaka Universal for free! Now if only I had money...
I just went to Japan a week ago, and boy I'm already nostalgic 😭 I loved it so much, especially the FOOD... I almost did everything you did, except for Universal Studios, sadly. Have to go there next time. What a wonderful trip I had but I didnt get to see you which is a bummer, just like the tsutenaku tower being in renovation. Great instructive guide as always !
Just means you gotta come back soon! 😏
Shinsaibashi is probably my favorite market in the world
Thanks, is fantastic all
Very helpful !! Make more!
Thank you!! We are planning on it!
I am afraid of eating pufferfish, but I love the way the street looks, the food looks amazing
I need the Kyoto and the Tokyo guides lol please
Nice work on the shots, seen dozens of videos but this one kill it
really appreciate the compliment, thanks Fernando!
Wow professional video making n opening
This video was so entertainig and informative, loved the cinematic intro and the additional vlog style itinerary
very happy to hear that!
u helped make my osaka trip even better
hey! been following your camera / filming guides a lot and am actually about to go to japan next month to get more vlogs in so this is perfect haha
i think one thing i want to mention ( i dont know the exact details) but i think you get can a 1 day / 2 day OSAKA pass which would let you go to those places you visited + more for a relative fair price
I am just fall in love with your voice! 😁😁
Thank you!!!’
Love it! The cinematic section was truly amazing! It made me want to move to Japan... But I already live here :) What kind of gimbal did you use for your moving shots? Aloha from Yokohama🤙
Is it possible to move to Japan again? 😏 I used the new DJI RS3 Mini!!
@@JasonVong Lol! I've been here for almost 30 years, and I still can't believe I live in Japan. That RS3 Mini is smooth!! If you ever need a tour of Yokohama please let me know.
Super Nintendo world looks fun!
Jason, I love the new format. I appreciate this a great deal. Do you have anything in the works for Seoul?
Nothing on Seoul! But would love to go back and create something cool!
The timing of this video could not be more perfect; was going to plan my Osaka itinerary literally this evening :D
I really hope I'm able to purchase the 20-70mm lens in March while I'm in Japan 🤞
If you have an extra 90 minutes, I strongly suggest joining a meetup. Here you can meet and speak to locals who love speaking English and meeting foreigners.
How do you do that?
Headed in May!
please share how you edit the color of cinematic vlog it’s so good! I’m desperate thank you 😢 Anw thank you for your vlog i’m going to Japan in few days and your videos are amazing!!!
love the video, have any similars for kyoto and tokyo?
Nice video! Brazilian dude here going to Japan in 3 weeks 😍 gonna take your suggestions 😊
enjoy!!
You must be a director of cinematography. First video of Japan I’ve been wowed over. Pls take more in depth of daily life’s or bars…. Food…..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Cheers
I loved the book the you roomed
Excellent and very honest présentation
If you bought the osaka amazing pass it will save you lots for entrance fees and transportation
🎉🎉🎉 Just ordered my tickets to Universal n Super Nintendo World! Brah, if I never watch your video, I would’ve missed da window to buy online… I’m only in Osaka from March 25 to 30 and ONLY had tickets available for the 26… 31300yen & the watches where “no stock” on that day😭😭😭… hopefully I can snag one when I get there. Mahaloz for posting y’all’s travels and spots to hit in and around Osaka! Will be using my ZV-1F and 24-70 gm ii to capture all my travels! If you got spots to shoot Mt Fuji in or around the west side of Fuji, PLEASE 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 make a video or leave some suggestions if can, greatly appreciated🤙🏽! My main goals fo dis trip is mainly Sakura & Fuji-san… da rest is xtra! Mahaloz again!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Glad you secured tickets for USJ and SNW! Have a good time!
Great tips! Hopefully we could go to Osaka this year. Debating whether to check out Super Mario at US in LA first or just go straight to US Osaka
I can’t say for sure but if it was me, I’d still go to Osaka first. I imagine the crowd in the US will be insane since it just opened
Great video! Hope you do more of these. Enjoyed all the insight!
You could of mentioned that Osaka is a great base to spend a week to see it AND do day trips to places like Kobe, Nara, Hiroshima etc.
Very true!
You should buy the Osaka amazing one day pass for ¥2800 and it includes most every popular site in Osaka and transportation. And is easy to meet the ¥6000 but you only spent ¥2800 and it is not in rush.
The "slum" area of Tennoji and Tobita Shinchi should be on every photographers' list of shooting locations.
amazing quality! Made me want to go back to Japan again! How do you feel about the lens being f4? Did it feel like enough? I’ve been debating that or the Tamron 20-40
If you have time, check out my review. I linked it in the pin comment of this video. But essentially I enjoyed the extra reach this lens provides me over the Tamron. Both are excellent choices but if low light is too much of an issue, go Tamron! Or the Sony for the flexibility and add a prime lens to your kit!
that's awesome footage. Inspirational Jason
I'm heading to Japan in March 2024 with an organized group that does give you a lot of freedom and
my starting point is Osaka.
Leaving Amsterdam on March 16 and arriving in Osaka on March 17, getting a free day on March 18 to explore Osaka on my own/with other group members before going to Koyasan on March 19, so under the best circumstances I have one evening, one whole day and maybe one morning.
The things I'd like to visit in Osaka are Osaka Castle, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and DenDen town so I wonder if these are realistic goals for a full day in Osaka.
I also want to go to Osaka nice vlog
Thanks for free travel video toturial I recently watched it..
What do you do with your camera gear when you go on the theme park rides? I am going to USJ in two weeks and want to bring a7riv with me. thanks!
damn this whole edit was impressive af
Thank you!! 🥹🥹🥹
Hi Jason, great video! How do you go about white balancing and color when you’re filming a variety of lights conditions? Does adding a LUT and shoot on flat hide the white balancing differences?
I just mainly stick to Sunny WB. If it looks too warm indoors, I would dial it down to something cooler. If it's too cool in the shade, I would switch to Shade WB. Now that you brought it up, the LUT does help hide some minor imperfect color imbalance - but it's always best to shoot properly in the moment.
Hello Jason, I love the looks of your footages. Did you shoot in Slog3 then color grade it with a lut in post?
For the night stuff only I shot SLOG3. The rest no picture profile. I used a mixture of different warm tone luts in post!
You go to shinsekai to eat eat kushikatsu!
Jason please help with a monitor question. Trying to find a monitor for my a7iv where I can see the AF square box, face tracking and tapping for autofocus ON the actual external monitor as well as the sony lcd screen while recording video. Can't seem to find any monitor that supports this. I've seen the portkeys monitor that supports touch to autofocus but I find it so strange that there isn't one monitor on the market that shows the touch tracking box on it. I feel like I would constantly be looking at the LCD screen which defeats the whole purpose of a monitor. Any advice?
Nice video, I'm a local. Osaka Castle looked up at night from a distance is most beautiful, the castle tower floating in the night sky can be seen.
Besides, the Osaka Museum of History alone is not 600 yen.
You didn't seem to realize it's importance though, the site where the museum was located is the remains of Naniwanomiya, Japan's first capital where called this country 日本 (Japan) about 650 AD.
Also, there was the first shrine called the Ikutama Shrine built when the first emperor Jinmu came here to create Yamato about 500 BC.
The shrine was moved to Namba when Osaka Castle was built though, there's accumulated most important historical symbols in Japan.
Nice! Thanks for the tidbit!
We just got back and we skipped Univeral and went to Awaji(?) island where you can go zip lining through Godzilla’s mouth!
For super nintendo world, can you leave then come back? Or does it depend on your time?
I like this format better & enjoy the planning part.
How’s your experience with the new 20-70mm? Will you keep it for future trip or going back to 24-70mm gm?
Thank you! If you have the time, definitely check out my review on the 20-70mm: czcams.com/video/xy3TFzTj9iA/video.html
Short answer is: It will not be in my kit, at least not for now. I will continue using the 2470GMII (handheld) + 14GM on Gimbal
was just wondering. How much time did u save in every ride with the express pass at Universal studios?
