Hi Mark, I just discovered you about a month ago and am in love with this technique. I always use a black base because it gives the colors just the right amount of shading. I also use pigments once I can see the halo of the color just to give it a different look. Thank you so much Mark, I think you are amazing!!!!
Thank you so much! They are so much fun and I know quite a few of us are playing with these at the moment. I only discovered them in January and been experimenting ever since. I really appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support- so thank you so much for being here! Hope you continue to enjoy what you see.
Pastel but with a luminous quality. Angelic. Love love love love
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful marbleized effect. This would be a terrific background for a stencil!
I think so too! Maybe I should…Thank you so much 😊
Mit diesen Pearlfarben ergibt es tolle Muster und Effekte 🤩👏👍🙏❤️🙋🏼♀️🇨🇭
Thank you so much 😊
Mark c'est très intéressant de voir d'autres possibilités avec ces peintures Pearl et c'est très doux. Donc pourquoi pas !! ❤❤❤👏👏👏
Thank you 😊
Beautiful outcome working with a dried black base. 😍 I’ve noticed that w my pours, as well - less flow without the wet liquid base. Great experiment! The end result reminds me of a lovely opal. ✨💎✨TFS!!👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much 😊
This will be beautiful against a dark wall. Thanks for sharing Mark. I so appreciate your experimentation and expertise
Thank you so much Carla 😊
OMG Mark…I think this is your best piece ever! You art inspires me so much!!!!
Thank you so much 😀
I just wanted to say that I love watching you and your art is beautiful! I paint to help with anxiety and PTSD and most of the time it works 😅 thank you for all you do ❤
That’s amazing and thank you for sharing that with me. I appreciate you 🙏🤩
Mark, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
I have always gone overboard with my iridescent and metalics. You are teaching me moderation in all things...
You are very welcome and thank you so much for your kind words 😊🙏
❤❤❤❤ you are always so informative and have encouraged me to get back into my art after a huge loss of my husband, hes been gone for a year this month after a very long battle with throat cancer that metastasized and went to his brain I just want to thank you that's all❤
Firstly I’m so so sorry to hear of your loss. You must be devastated and I hope you find some comfort with your art. Just don’t put pressure on yourself and enjoy the process 💜💜💜
I’m so sorry for your loss….

Wow! You have to show us with the varnish on it. This is really beautiful. Reminds me of ink painting with alcohol. Stunning pic
Thank you so much - I will, once it’s done I’ll post it here for you to see
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt Thankyou, I suspect you will be thrilled with it. I have mixed some paints today, will be trying some things out tomorrow
This is beautiful. Love the way the paint colors look so soft.
Thank you so much!
Love the softness of this painting!
Thank you so much 😀
Looks like petrol!! I love it, I've always been mesmerised by puddles of petrol on the road so this is a top tier painting for me!
Yes! I know what you mean. Thank you 😊
It's still GORGEOUS!! 💜😍💜😍💜😍💜
Thank you 😊
Rainbow clouds! Beautiful
Thank you 🙏
Thank you, I am loving this Mark! One could create a beautiful, ethereal background for a painting! ❤
Glad you like it! Thank you 😊
Nice pastel version of these paints. Got to experiment in order to learn. Wonderful Soft Result. I love how it shimmers in the light. Very Nice Mark😊
Thank you so much Daisy 😀
Mark, I love the muted tones. It is so soft and calm. I think this one has moved up to my third favorite. I definitely like when you use the marble in your creations. It really makes a difference bringing the colors together. Thank you for showing what happens when you have a dry base. I find it very interesting. Take good care. Denise❤
Glad you like it! Thank you so much Denise xx
Thank You Mark! Very interesting to see the reaction. I really appreciate your continued experimentation !
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching 😊
I love the pastel look. It is beautiful
Thank you so much Holly 😊
Mark this is so absolutely beautiful. I am going to try this as I have a jar of each one of these mixed already. But, I think once dry I may use a Mandela stencil. I think this makes a gorgeous painting in its own as well. So soft and beautiful. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much. I was thinking of embellishing it as I think it makes a cool background for something. Have so much fun and let me know how you get on
It must be mesmerizing to watch the pearlescents develop and come into their own. That was the perfect use for a marble too! Everything came out beautifully, Mark.
Thank you Patty. Yes absolutely- I just love watching them transform 😊
WOW, MARK, WOW!!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY 💯 BEAUTIFUL!!! ❤❤❤
Beautiful Mark!❤❤. Love those paints!
Thanks so much 😊😊
WOOOOOW Mark, I am absolutely stunned. This piece is soooo beautiful. I love how it dried. The colours are so precious. Definitely one of my favourite pieces.
Funny part: at the beginning of the video I thought: "Well Mark, you better add enough green to the canvas so that I won't be disappointed." And now look at the end result: great amount of a lovely green 💚
You made my day. Thanks 🖒💖
Haha 😂 thank you Michaela. There is always room for green 💯 💚💚💚
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt yesssss 💚💚💚🍀

Hi Mark
I wanted to show you a photo of a Dutch pour
Bloom. But you don’t have anything that I can send a photo of it. On the bottom side, looks like paint spilling down. I don’t know how they did this. Whether sprayed with water or another technique. Just wondering if you possibly know how to do it. It’s a beautiful piece. Thank you!
@@beckyjenkins197 hi Becky. Send me an email markjratcliffeart@gmail.com - do you know who the artist is because they might also have a video? Send it over and I can take a look 👀
Thanks so much. I’ve wondered how it would work without the black liquid. Now I know.
You’re so welcome! Thanks for your support
This is gorgeous!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much 😊
So soft and beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
I love this!! This gives such depth & layers to the canvas. I can imagine walking by & being surprised as it changes in the light!! Such fun to experiment & learn. Please post/show when you have completed it. 💖💖💖
Thank you so much! 😊
This is beautiful! I love it!
Thank you so much!
Hello Mark ☕️ I want to jump in those puddles 😊
Thank you 😊
The shimmer and hues of colour at the end are gorgeous Mark! What a satisfying outcome. You must be so pleased ❤🎉
Thank you so much 😊
Mark this is wonderful❤
Thank you 😊
Love the softer pastel look created in this piece. I keep putting off using my pearlescent paints as I don’t want to waste them. Watching the videos in this series is helping me to choose which technique to use them with. Thank you for your inspirational content and for always replying to my comments. 🌈
You are so welcome and thank you so much for your kind words of support x
Love this Mark!
Thank you 🤩
Love the outcome! I'm gonna have to try this!
You should! Thank you 😊
Stunning !
Thank you!
Super beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Yet another stunner Mark. Have you managed to varnish any of this series yet? I bet it really makes them pop, this one will look awesome with varnish I’m sure. I did start to think you were going to run out of paint, well done you for stretching it out.
Thank you 😊 No I haven’t varnished any yet. Big job ahead 😊
I love your work. With the pearlescent paints, I sometimes wish the development of the colors could be stopped between when the colors start to develop and full development. I like the look of the hint of color on the edges..
Thank you very much!
So soft and delicate!! Love it!! Thanks Mark for sharing this with us. Have a wonderful day. 😊💖
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you Judy 🙏😊
Thanks mark an interesting experiment ❤

Thanks so much!
NICE SO SOFT !
Thank you 😋
Hi Mark, that’s really interesting 😊 I did a travelling open cup with theses paints with a liquid black base in my last video and I had the same result, muted pastel colours, however when I varnished it brought the colours to life. Lovely piece Mark 😊
Thank you so much. So much fun experimenting 😊
Beautiful, i love seeing when you use the marbel it makes soo lovely pattern, must try that. I have tried but my marbel whas to small....love your videos you make a lot of beautiful things, thank you fore sharing that whith us..👍💙🥰
Thank you! I’m so happy you enjoy the videos. Thank you again for all your support
Complimenti 👏👏👏
Thank you 😊
Can’t wait to get started with my pearlescent paints. I wonder if it would work to mix in puddles of with other paint?
Go for it! Just remember the Pearlescent’s need a dark color to go with it to help it change color and pop. And also remember when layering the effect opaque and transparent will have on the effect
Love this. Have you ever tried using a midnight blue instead of Lamp Black base?
I’ve not… not yet 😊
I Like The Pastel colors. I enjoy seeing whats the end result. So how about adding some gold acrylic to mix? Thanks for the inspiration inspiration!
Thank you so much - did you see the one I released Monday with gold in?
Yes I did & i commented to u. But that was a bit different than this one. Love em all !!
There's so many different techniques I've tried with these paints and I still have more mixed up and I'm probably going to pour over that 2 ft by 3 foot 1 that swipe I'm just not doing it. But I love that effect you got you could always do something on top of it I think it's beautiful. And I love pastel.
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Mark. I wanted to ask you about the base paint color. I have used black, and the colors come out beautiful. What do you think about a dark blue, or dark green, as the base? Would the light bounce back from something besides black? Thanks for any help you can give me. And thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us.
Hi Michelle, it would if they base was dark. Dark opaque bases are the best 👍🏻
Needs a super gloss 😮
Yep! I need to varnish soon haha
Hello Mark, I love this piece. The colors is so soft. 💗 The color is more delicate.
You demonstrated the impact of the wet black paint under the pearlescente paint. It's so interesting. 🤩
Yesterday i see a video on youtube. The guy explain than we can mix those colors you use with other primary and tertiary colors. The video is not for pouring but I believe we could apply it.
If you're ever interested in seeing the video, I'll leave you the contact details.

The name of the channel is "Royal Talens"
Have good day to you sweet Mark !! 🌈🌈🌈
Thank you so much Caroline I’ll be sure to check out your recommendation 😊
Super👍 très bonne expérience, ces Peintures ne fonctionnent que sur le noir, peut-être tu aurais dû peindre la toile en noir🤔 Bonne journée 🎨🙂
Thank you 😊 I did paint the canvas black - that was part of the experiment 🙏😊
I don't understand where the colors came from. Are the different white have color in them
Pearlescent paints “look” white but when they are mixed with a dark color like black they react and turn into a color - it’s all to do with the transparency and how the light bounces off the background and through the paints too
What if a liquid black paint was the base for those puddles
Thank you. I’ve already tried that in my previous pieces; if you haven’t seen I have a pearlescent playlist so please check it out if you’re interested 😊
Have you tried this result under a black light? I'm wondering 🤔
I haven’t…. Hmm… 🙏😊
Not as vibrant than with the black puddle, but I do love these muted colors!
Thank you 😊
