    Very impressive boat especially their brand new 55. But my heart is set on the TS5 ...for now !!!😛😜😀

    Like these boats a lot as well. Our only deterrent for this brand purchase is bed accommodations. My bride (just turned 70) absolutely refuses to have to crawl into bed. Has to be a partial or full island bed. Find a way to do that on the 51 (or the new 48) and we're in !!

      Hi Richard, yes the beds are what much of the industry is focused on these days for the reasons you mentioned, but obviously it all comes down to what you are willing to compromise as it really blows out the beam of the hull to be able to walk around and sit down on the bed. The beds on the Outremer 51 allow the owners to get in via the end so at least you don't have to crawl over one another so it offers the same outcome as an island bed, just that you can't walk around it. Brent.

      @@MultihullCentral1 . Brent, it is not the same outcome at all. For $1 Million +, it needs to be better. Of all the sailing people out there today (and there are many more now), they do not do 15-18 knot sailing most of the time. They get to an anchorage and stay for a while, or tie up to a marina and do the same. Yes, quick passages can be desirable, no doubt, yet off the racecourse, accommodations are most desired. Even LaVagabonde relishes "land time" to sleep in a "bed" while at the same time enjoy "flying along the water."
      .
      The two should be attainable, even for Outremer, the 51 and above (maybe the new 4X). Perhaps we go 10-12 knots instead of 15-18. I mean, even the fastest monohulls have realized that a wider aft bean is better for speed and accommodations. But hey. I'm just a buyer looking to spend my hard-earned dollars.

      Outremer 7x with a walk around berth is on the way! I’d like to crew and learn from your experiences, sharing the passion for sailing!

    Gorgeous Boats. My Question: with the O45, now 48'. The 51 is only 1 meter longer, 1/3m wider, but 3t heavier. Other than length, beam, weight, how would you compare these two boats? What are the big differences? I've only seen the 5x at boat shows in the US, one person told me the headroom in the 45 is just as good as the 51. Given the choice between the 45(48), older 49, and 51, what are the tradeoffs? Thanks.

    • @MultihullCentral1
      @MultihullCentral1  Před 5 lety +4

      Hi Mark, the Outremer 51 remains the sweet spot for the brand because its a great trade off between size that is still manageable by a couple, yet has the waterline length for performance and payload for common comfort requests. I agree down below there is actually not that big a difference and i think thats definitely a benefit for the O45, however there is certainly a more generous living layout in the saloon and cockpit .Though the cockpit is not walk through, its HUGE in terms of seating and makes a nice outdoor living room with the curtains dropped. The O49 is the O51's predecessor so it hull is shorter but essentially the same, as is the layout. You miss out on then nice modern styling updates internally and the raked bows. Obviously the O51 is more expensive than the O45 too. Thanks for your comments! Brent.

    Mark. Great video. Know the tough question how would you compare the O51 with the Seawind 1600

    • @MultihullCentral1
      @MultihullCentral1  Před 5 lety

      hey Chris thanks! as mentioned below, there are some big differences between these boats including:
      * Displacement
      * Rudders
      * Fitout
      * Bedding
      * Helm
      * Location of pick up or shipping
      etc etc etc
      I think it comes back to personal preference around these items.
      Brent.

      I love them both I just don’t like standing out in the weather on the helm where the sea wind is under cover , but I’m sure I could handle it great vessel I’d love on RV
