I love seeing kitchens! I spied your Yorkshire tea box. I’m a fan of Yorkshire Gold. And I see the Gravy can. Fun insights into your domesticity!
And great book pickups. I’m an SF nut.

Hi Paul….I’m excited that today I purchased a used paperback of Love of Seven Dolls, was $20, pretty cheap. They had one for $60 that was signed by Gallico. Was surprised that he wrote The Poseidon Adventure! Back in the day, I was going to audition for a part in the movie. Your house looks cozy! This was another great video, I always love seeing your little guy, Bernard, also hearing him meow. Question: How many books can you read at a time? Thanks, and have a great day❤

I agree , science fiction is like a mirror held up to many tenets of previous decadent writings and deals with idiosyncratic and tangential themes; that had cult status in prior generations . This is a thread that is continuous in what came to be described as counter culture . It is for me all mad poets brains ; "the other" that liberates . The universe is made of stories ; standfast against those who would stifle the imagination .

I have a bookcase with quite a lot of custard yellow SF Masterworks (and quite a lot of the Fantasy Masterworks as well).
I have noticed that Gollancz have published a couple of books by Sterling E. Lanier and have one by Maureen Duffy in the pipeline in the Masterworks series. Lanier may be better known for being the editor who championed Dune (and his two works are from the early 70s I think).

That's what I love about old books, the smell, the smell of time I always think.

There were several series as percussor to Masterworks The one you may be thinking of was the Gollancz Classic SF collection from the late 80's. It had a lot of the titles that ended up in Masterworks. They have a yellow band on the top of the cover. Some great books in that by.

yes, with a bit of research i've discovered i was dipping into these series back in the 80s, 90s and then the 2000s! my fave design was the 1999 series, i think

@@paulmagrs2474 Yes the 1999 original Masterworks series was the best looking, I have quite a lot of those (more than the yellow spines)

I had a vague ambition a few years ago to collect the full set of Sci--Fi Masterworks books, but I haven't made much progress! I enjoyed Priest's 'The Affirmation' so much on re-reading that it's made me wanting to do a PHD on him.
